A page-turning paranormal series for fans of Twilight and A Shade of Vampire.Amelia never asked to unleash her inner vampire…she never even knew it existed.Amelia is sucked into a nightmare and killed at the hungry fangs of a monster…but then she wakes up and everything has changed. Her whole life has been a lie. What she thought she was—human—is nothing but a disguise, one she never even knew … but a disguise, one she never even knew she was wearing.
Amelia is a vampire and she always has been.
Her family and even best friend Kendrick have known the truth all along, a lie they claim they kept to protect her. Sixteen going-on-forever, Amelia’s violent hunger could quiet a classroom in seconds. It could expose them and lead to her death. Killing for blood is forbidden—but vampires aren’t the only ones enforcing the rules.
Another race exists that is more than willing to keep the toll down by any means they see fit.
With her life spiraling, Amelia lives in fear of the day she finally loses control. The day she finally kills in cold blood. But then she meets Ty, a guy who is strangely familiar and hides a dark and dangerous secret of his own, and everything changes. Amelia senses Ty’s unnatural strength and, even more than that, for the first time she feels safe from herself.
But lies and secrets won’t stay buried forever as her telling dreams turn into warnings. Amelia is unaware of the superior power she possesses and the danger she is in. Not everyone is who they claim to be. Not even Ty. Falling for him will be impossible not to do, but staying alive after that?
Falling in love may just cost Amelia everything: her friends, her family…even her life.

The debut novel from J.L. Myers, What Lies Inside is an epic addition to the great vampire paranormal romance novels of Bella Forrest, E.M. Knight, and Karpov Kinraid.more
This was an amazing story with wonderful characters! I could not put it down! It is reminiscent of a dark Twilight. When Amelia and Dorian, twin siblings, find out they are vampires it is quite interesting the difference is in how they accept the news. As the story grows it just gets better and better. A fast paced story that you will not want to end!
Kind of a Romeo and Juliet meets Twilight meets Underworld. I loved the story. I think Troy and Marika were minute characters that the story could have lived without, but that’s probably just because I didn’t particularly like them lol. In retrospect, they helped moved the story along. I like that Amelia is a strong female lead.
Wow!! This story will pull you in and you will not be able to put it down. Amelia really struggles with her new life and when she finds Ty it turns upside down all over again. Will they be able to stay together, will Amelia be able to gain control of her desires. I can’t wait to see what happens next in this story line. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
“Gripping, utterly heart-wrenching, and completely suspenseful The plot was amazing, the events surreal, and every page kept your eyes glued
On their 16th birthday, the twins are informed of the circumstances surrounding their birth, which turned them into vampires. Welcome to your new life where your new [seemingly fated] love is also your ancient sworn enemy. There is a lot of background laid out over a short time, but it just adds to the story line, which lends itself to a long tale. I would have liked a little more info earlier on, but then, so would our main characters. I do look forward to the next in the series.
* I was given a copy for an honest [always] review *
I love J.L. Myers’ novels so it’s no surprise that I was delighted to get my hands on What Lies Inside, Book 1 of her new Blood Bound series. This book is, quite simply, a superb vampire paranormal romance and definitely recommended. It had just what I wanted and was well written and with a great plot and great cast of characters. I frankly adore Amelia and Ty And think that the publishers are correct in labeling this the right paranormal series for fans of Twilight and A Shade of Vampire. The rest of the cast of characters is pretty amazing as well. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises – these two books definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book set is most definitely one to read, it is easy to highly recommend.
What Lies Inside was recommended to me so I figured I’d give it a try. I purchased the boxset since it was on sale. I love paranormal reads and I was surprised that I didn’t enjoy this book more than I did. It was an okay read but I thought it could have been better. I enjoyed Amelia, Dorian, Ty and Vanessa and of course, there were characters I disliked. This story has mystery, suspense, enemies, secrets, betrayals and well kept lies. The beginning and middle of the story seemed to flow slow and the ending seemed to happen to fast. Everything significant seemed to happen at the end of the story and then it was bam, the story’s over so you need the next book. The ending wasn’t even that interesting to where it left me wanting to read the next story. However, since I have purchased the boxset I will give the next book a try before I completely delete it off my kindle. I hope it’s better than this one.
I absolutely loved this book!It reminded me of a cross between Twilight and Romeo and Juliet with a suspense twist. Great story and I can’t wait to download the next book in the series. Definitely a great read.
loved Amelia’s story and her spunkiness!! Amelia is a vampire who falls in love with a werewolf, this is a forbidden romance but they both fight for their love. There are a lot of twist and turns in the book that keep you on your toes. Would definitely recommend this book if you like YA paranormal reads.
This book was like if the Twilight books and the Underworld movies got together and had a love child, which made for a great read. I got wrapped up in the story from the get go and had it read in less than three days. I would have had it read sooner if not for life in general and the need for sleep getting in the way. The characters were compelling, making it impossible to not become invested in them. And the story itself was full of twists and turns all surrounding a bigger mystery I can’t wait to delve into in the following books in the series. This was a great read and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good vampire tale.
Amelia is a vampire, but she is only just now finding out. Not what she had in mind for a sweet 16 birthday present. She and her twin, Dorian are trying to balance their new lives as well as a new school. Some of the kids are more welcoming than others. There are secrets to be discovered, and they sometimes lead to more questions. Amelia ends up getting sent back to Alaska to discover more about who they are, and learn more of their history. Things there are not what they seem at all and end up putting her in great danger.
I really fell in love with this book and Amelia. She is a great, strong, young lady. I can’t wait to find out more about her, Marcus, Dorian and Kendrick. Also Ty and Vanessa are great too. Pretty sure Vanessa is hiding a secret, just haven’t figured out what it is yet.
I have enjoyed the other series by this author but this one although good, I just couldn’t get past the teen angst. Nope I wasn’t a fan of Twilight which I saw all of the references to in the blurb and the other reviews so that may be part of it. The writing is good and the story sound but I will pass on going further. Trust me it isn’t the book it is completely me.
