But as the fling begins to morph into something more, an unexpected wedding guest threatens to ruin Rose and Lachlan’s new romance.

Great read…
Every single girl’s dream when traveling to the Highlands!
I didn’t finish. Story did not grab me within the first couple of chapters
I truly love Rose. She is adventurous and feisty and funny and plain old fun, even though she lives a staid life in a dead end job. I adore Lachlan. They have a rocky start but even with that the chemistry is outrageous. I love the setting and the backstory of Katie and Sean. I can not wait to read about Sorcha and Danny. The secondary characters, the wedding, and the gorgeous descriptions of the countryside keep you turning the pages in this wonderful book.

Great story!
Excellent book. Couldn’t put it down.
A fun afternoon read with wonderful characters!
Nasty Book with Scottish Inaccuracies
Oh, where to begin with this book! I found there to be so much wrong with it. I tend to be a sucker for Scottish romance, whether historical, contemporary, or time travel. But perhaps I should have had a little closer look at the description of this particular book. Don’t be fooled by the cover, which looks like a relatively sweet contemporary romance.
First of all, I found it completely ridiculous in terms of the ways these characters acted. Perhaps it is more common of younger people these days, but I, of course, can’t say for certain. But it seems like the heroine spent the bulk of her time drunk or hungover and being either self-conscious or stupid (sometimes in rapid succession). That’s just not a fun thing to read about, at least for me. In one of these drunken hazes, she first sleeps with the hero. She’s so blitzed that she doesn’t even recognize him, needing to check his wallet the morning after to find out his identity; they had met before at a meet-and-greet for all the people who would be at her best friend’s wedding. We were told she was a professional who was normally pretty strait-laced. I don’t believe it. Just like in real life, we judge by what we see, not by what we’re told. The author only showed us the worst aspects of her; it’s hard to imagine her as the woman we were told she was back in New Jersey. Honestly, I just found myself disgusted by that, shall we say, drunk sl*t aspect of the heroine.
Second, I found egregious errors about Scotland in the book. I won’t detail all of them. I actually visited Scotland 18 months ago and spent nearly a week in Nairn, where this particular book takes place. I first knew the author had done little or no research on Scotland, Inverness, and Nairn with her description of the airport and what it was like to get from there to Nairn. First, the description of the airport that did not bear any resemblance to my memory of it. Picture a super small regional airport. There would have no place at baggage claim for the heroine’s best friend to wait and meet her; it isn’t accessible to the general public. Other details about the airport were wrong, too. Even worse, her description of going through Inverness on her way to Nairn from the airport is just completely wrong. The Inverness Airport is to the east of Inverness and so is Nairn. So why would her bestie drive her through Inverness before heading to Nairn? If she had gone straight from the airport to Nairn, which is what seems to have been intimated, she wouldn’t have gone through Inverness at all. After a fair bit of driving in the book, a character said it would take another long while to get to Nairn from their present location. Only about 10 miles separate the Inverness Airport and Nairn; it really doesn’t take that long to go from one to the other unless it’s commute times. That was my experience. The author’s description of Nairn wasn’t accurate either. Oh, and I loved that one of the guys in a bar gave her friend a 1-pound note. The pound note was retired in 1988. They now use pound coins. If this man had one in his possession (which some people still do), it is unlikely he would have it on his person in a bar and give it away to a relative stranger.
All in all, I was disappointed by the sloppy research (from someone who claims to be a historian in their Amazon bio) and the raunchy storyline. Research for authors is so easy these days with the internet so close at hand. Even a map would have shown that Inverness did not lie between the Inverness Airport and Nairn. Do people actually like reading books that are about people just being drunk and stupid? Sigh.
Frankly, it’s trash like this that gives genre romance fiction a bad name. I would give it negative stars if I could.
I received a free copy of this book, but clearly, that did not affect my review.
Witty dialog, engaging charters, action packed adventure filled with emotional thrills, sexy fun twists and undeniable passion. A great read from beginning to end and an exciting journey that kept me on the edge of my seat. Highly entertaining read!
This would have been a much better book without the gratuitous use of vulgarities. In one instance it made no sense at all. The characters and the Scottish setting did not need such language.
The beginning wasn’t good, too much boozing and sex. I was just about to delete it from my e-list, but went on to finish it. It wasn’t the best story, but I did finish it!
I really enjoyed this book. I bought the rest of the series and loved it!
Nice steamy contemporary Scottish laird book! I was hesitant at first because I’m not usually a fan of first-person stories, but the author made the story engaging and it kept my interest the entire book. Lachlan is a dreamboat too.
Great book that takes place in Scotland. Rose comes to the wedding of her best friend amber plans to be the best bridesmaid ever. Only she’s about to let off some much needed pent up frustration and have a little fling. Will it turn into something more or will she go back home in tears?

The book drew me right into the story line, immediately. It’s easy to read and the characters are well developed by the author. The story is believable, also. I highly recommend this book! I can’t wait to read more!!!!

I loved that the author really seemed to know the areas in Scotland she was writing about. I liked that the towns were geographically accurate as well. I like my fiction rooted in reality!
Rose is in Scotland for her best friends wedding. On her first night visiting she makes a fool of herself crashing into Lachlan. Lachlan is bestman and cousin to the groom. During the many crazy antics they get into Rose starts to fall for Lachlan. Now they must figure out if their feelings are real. On its own this book is good as part of a series its a bit confusing. I started in reverse with the third book. Now I’m reading one and still have two to go.

Rose goes to Scotland for her friends wedding and meets the best man Lachlan. He is a true kilt wearing Scotsman and she is totally attracted at first glance. They end up spending a drunken night together which leads to a week of hot steamy lovemaking but when the wedding rolls around his ex shows up wanting another chance. Rose gets her heart broken and heads home as soon as the wedding is over but she is in for a little surprise. Loved this story and the characters are just so funny and fun I could not help but fall in love with them.
Book one in the What Happens series a well written story with a very good storyline. I want to read the next book. Rose Hensel and Lachlan Calder-Mackinnon’s story kept me turning pages. I enjoyed reading this story and seeing their story unfold.
Great chemistry between the maid of honor, Rose and best man, Lachlan. A bit of Scottish history inserted moves this story along with castles and rolling hills. Fun and entertaining.
