I loved this set of sweet, heartfelt romances. Each book in the set was wonderful, and each had a profound spiritual message. These are the books for the heart and soul. I highly recommend this set!
It was a really nice set of four separate stories that follow different sets of people but all are intertwined in each book. You get a good dose of British words, culture, and charm in each. And the twists and turns address some heavy issues. Was sorry to have the stories end.
This box set is a lovely series set in a London department store that is on-the-brink of financial disaster. These are sweet romances that capture your heart!
In all her books, Autumn MacArthur reminds us that we can trust God – that He allows events in our lives for a reason. We just need to have the courage and curiosity to follow along!
In “The Wedding List” Beth, a store clerk, re-encounters James, her first love. Their story seems to be centered around misunderstandings!
In “Believe in Me” Cara, the store accountant, is desperately trying to save the store by bringing in new business. The crochety owner decides a movie star (Nick) playing Santa will help. Cara is “assigned” to go out on the town with him, being photographed. Being in public, she risks exposing her secrets.
In “Least Expected” you find a story of opposites attracting in a wonderful way. Maggie is helping to save the store with her window designs that mirror the dates Cara and Nick are going on. Her possible love is the son of the store’s owner. What a delightful tangled mess it is.
In “A Model Bride” Tiffany and Mac are total opposites, trying to face their own set of problems that are complicated by falling in love. It’s story of growing up into who you really are.
This is an awesome set of romances. They all have something to do with a fading London department store. I love these characters. All four books just kept me reading until I had to sleep. There is warmth , forgiveness, placing trust in the Lord and so much more. There is even a story about a woman in her fifties. It is nice to have an older heroine occasionally. These stories and characters have stuck with me. I highly recommend this series.
Autumn Macarthur manages to mix romance and life lessons in these wonderful stories. Without being “preachy” she highlights our need for God’s guidance. Set around a venerable London department store, these stories have great characters and story lines.
The Wedding List
Beth and James have a history but it is going to take some help from God for them to be able to have a happily ever after. Beth has to learn to accept her past and to trust James’s love. James has to learn to respect but not allow his mother to run his life. Both have to learn to turn their lives over to God.
Believe in Me
Another wonderful story with well developed characters and story line. Cara is a workaholic that holds herself responsible for everyone else. Nick comes across as a fun loving never serious playboy. Autumn Macarthur manages to bring their stories together and shows them that they can combine forces and be a force to reckon with.
Least Expected
Bohemian meets straight laced traditionalist. Maggie and Edgar appear to be polar opposites but they are exactly what the other needs. It is enjoyable to watch Maggie realize how much she can rely on God.
A Model Bride
As one of Luke’s twin sisters, Tiffany is used to be underestimated by her family and friends. When her plans for New Years Eve fall through she finds herself agreeing to go to Scotland with war photographer Mac. These are definitely two mix-matched souls but they are two that need each other. Autumn Macarthur outdoes herself with this one. My heart hurts for them and I love the lessons they learn.
These stories cover a few different tropes but all are set or centered around a department store in London.
The characters are well done––you get to see growth as they learn to trust God, themselves and each other.
All are sweet with satisfying endings.
I had an ARC copy of this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. Wonderful stories in this set. I liked reading about different people associated with one department store. Their stories are all different and each memorable.
London and it magic will make love and faith blossom around in Pettett & Mayfield department store. Four love stories A sweet reading perfect to put joy in our hearts.
The Wedding List – Can two people from different worlds find forever together? Beth needed to find her worth in the Lord and not in what others thought. James had family expectations to overcome. I love how this author shows that in Christ believers are all the same. Sweet romance and a real life story of seeing beyond this life.
Believe in Me – Loved Cara and Nick grew on me. A story of forgiveness and love. Loved that it is a Christian romance.
Least Expected – Being 55 myself, I really enjoyed reading about a couple in their 50s. Maggie is a hoot and Edgar is such a sweet man. Definitely opposites but they are great together.
A Model Bride – Tiffany was so misunderstood. She is just a pretty girl but smart, funny, and serious minded. Mac was a grumpy gus until Tiffany. Loved them together. Having twin daughters, I enjoyed reading about Tiffany and her sister (but she did annoy me in this book).
