They went on vacation. Not everyone made it back. The Palmers went to the lake for a week of fun in the sun. But Alex Palmer had an agenda. He wanted his brother to reconcile with their hypercompetitive father. He wanted his daughter to break up with her shady boyfriend. Most of all, Alex wanted them to be a family one more time before he faced his predicament at home.Evil incarnate and a brutal … home.
Evil incarnate and a brutal double murder shifted Alex’s focus from wants to needs. He needed to keep his family safe. He needed to find her. He needed to know what happened at the lake.
His pastor often said, “God won’t give you more than you can bear.”
This had nothing to do with God.

Initially really enjoyed reading this book… couldn’t wait to read it and find out what happens. Then it got a little outrageous, then annoying. The ending was unbelievable and unoriginal. Really found myself annoyed when finishing what started as a promising book
This writer knows the craft, and writes well from that standpoint. But it felt like the writer’s heart wasn’t with his characters, which were shallowly constructed. I couldn’t really care about them. Also, the plot was well paced and believable, for the most part. To elaborate on that further would be to spoil. I’d like to see this writer work on developing a deeper commitment to his work in the future. Sorry to say, I was just as glad to finish it.
I only got a few chapters into this book when I got tired of seeing cliche after cliche. I hadn’t engaged with the characters at all and just couldn’t waste my time finishing it.
Odd story line not very interesting or realistic resolution to the plot.
It was fairly interesting to read. It was a little dark and down. It is just a teaser to keep buying more to get to a conclusion. A bit incomplete for a stand alone book.
What do you get when you have 11 dysfunctional family and friends rent a cabin on the lake in East TN? Not much with a death or two, some crazy neighbors and such. I read it all but not sure why.
I choose not to read books that show violence, sexual or just violence, against women or children. So I never got past the introduction.
