They went on vacation. Not everyone made it back. The Palmers went to the lake for a week of fun in the sun. But Alex Palmer had an agenda. He wanted his brother to reconcile with their hypercompetitive father. He wanted his daughter to break up with her shady boyfriend. Most of all, Alex wanted them to be a family one more time before he faced his predicament at home.Evil incarnate and a brutal … home.
Evil incarnate and a brutal double murder shifted Alex’s focus from wants to needs. He needed to keep his family safe. He needed to find her. He needed to know what happened at the lake.
His pastor often said, “God won’t give you more than you can bear.”
This had nothing to do with God.

A good old-fashioned mystery novel. It is fairly well written, but really never draws the reader into the characters. And speaking of characters, it has far too many. That would be fine if they contributed to the plot, but many seem to only be present to give a few more possible suspects for the reader to consider. If you like James Patterson’s short chapter structure to novels, you will feel very comfortable with this writing.
Would have given a higher rating if the ending had been better.
I disliked this book. Too much of the storyline dedicated to details that have nothing to do with the plot. There were so many things in this book that were just unbelievable. Writing was juvenile. Not sure why he had all the female characters as they were not developed and really had no place in the story except the 3 victims.
By finished the book, I mean I didn’t finish it. Characters were not particularly likable and story plot didn’t seem to go anywhere.
I actually did not finish it. The writing sounds as if it is translated from an obscure language by a lazy translator. I don’t like writing negative reviews, but this one is memorably bad.
Could not read more than a few pages. This book was awful
Could not put it down!
Too violent for me!
This book was hard for me to follow and things really confusing until the end.
Never finished the book. Did not like the writing style.
Pretty gory, which is the only reason it didn’t get 5. Also fairly predictable
This book dragged on, and only my stubbornness and curiosity pushed me to finish it. The author is apparently stuck in adolescence with his pre-occupation with teenage horniness, urinating, and feces. His overuse of the word “sh–” increased as the book moved toward its conclusion. I don’t know if he wanted the book to seem Christian fiction because he referenced the teenage purity vow and one character’s desire to follow Christian teachings, but the rest was not in the Christian fiction genre. Reading the book was further inhibited by the constant divisions into chapters, each with a separate title. — However, by the last few chapters, the plot thickened and the ending surprising and the vulgar language increased.
It wasn’t interesting enough for me to finish.
Clumsily written, dull and predictable
Easy reading thriller. I usually read some pretty heavy stuff. It was good to get lost in something simple.
Too gory; just didn’t like. Tried it because it was free. Other folks may like it; just not to my liking.
Great twist at the end as to who the killer was.
Fairly predictable in the end, and a little forced but a fun mystery – reads like a weekly movie
Just could not get into this book…
It was free, so worth what I paid for it. It is ok, but I wouldn’t have wanted to spend money on it.
