ClaireI believed I had my future all planned out.College, track, friends, I mean, why wouldn’t I? I was a nineteen-year-old girl in college with a dream of being an Olympian that wasn’t too far within reach as a college top track star.A jeep I could roll the windows down while the radio blasted as I sang off-key.My own dorm that gifted me privacy from my two triplet brothers. I had it all.But …
I had it all.
But just like many, I took it all for granted. That’s until my life turned upside down, and everything changed. I nearly became one more lost soul. Without the love of my family, friends, and a very charming soccer player, I would’ve truly lost myself in the process.
This is my story and how I began to see beyond what’s right in front of me.
Funny, all I had to do was open my eyes.
The only problem is time.
Jake
I lived a life never truly paying attention to the world around me. I had my dad, my grams, and my soccer ball. I was perfectly fine with the way I lived life.
Why grow attached to things that can walk away?
That’s until I saw her.
The girl I never thought I would find–the one who made me see in a different perspective.
Oh, and how beautiful it is.

This is one heck of a debut novel from K. Dosal McLendon.
I cried, ugly tears, cried over this book.
Normally, I am not one for insta-love stories, but the tragedy and angst built into this one completely surprised me.
I was pulled in from the first chapter and I was completely engaged with this story till the very end.
I’m going to keep this review short because I still have so many emotions over this book. My heart was absolutely devastated for not just Claire, but her brothers as well. I could actually feel the triplet-pain.
Jake was such a sweet and swoony hero in this one. HERO is an apt description of him. Seriously, the scene with the painting and the blank wall?! I was so emotional…
I am absolutely looking forward to more of this series, more of this author. Just more.
And as always from my reviews, my top quotes of the book:
“I will always be your eyes.”
“You made me see, without my eyes.”
“I see you… I love you, too.”
This book was so much more than just romance between two main characters, it shows importance of family, friendships and how we should never take things in our life for granted. I liked all the characters in it, even if some of them seemed to good to be true. There is no unnecessary drama in this book,no misunderstanding, breakups without reason or jealousy and I love that. It was heartbreaking at the times but still so, so beautiful.
Love that Claire and Jake have for each is so special, beautiful and even though I didn’t like that insta love between them, their feelings for each other were undeniable. What made this book special to me was how supportive and caring Jake was to Claire. Liam and Cole, Claire’s brothers ,are everything. I love relationship they have with her,how caring and protective they are. They both made me laugh so many times while I was reading this book and I can’t wait to read Cole and Grace’s story.
ARC REVIEW
Emotional. Raw. Real.
Oh My Goodness Y’all!! This has been one of the most intense emotional rollercoaster’s rides I’ve ever had the pleasure of experiencing!!
‘What Do You See?’ is K. Dosal McLendon’s debut novel and let me tell y’all, she is going to have a long career with her talent and the way she brings words to life! I never ever expected in my life to feel so many emotions thanks to a book, especially not a debut novel!!
ALL. THE. FEELS.
For real. I cannot get over how shockingly good, emotionally powerful and magnificent this book is.
‘What Do You See?’ Is not your usual romance where boy meet girl, boy falls in love with girl, there is a slight hiccup in their relationship and then is a happily ever after.
No. Nope. Niet. Nein. Nah.
This is nothing like that. This book is strong, it is raw and as real as it gets. It talks about loss, sufferance, love, family, hope, dreams and fear; it is a perfectly balance concoction of every possible emotion imaginable that aims to make you feel like no other book has done before.
Claire is a strong young woman, she is a fighter, a survivor and an athlete. She is a triplet who wouldn’t be herself fully without her two protective brothers and her family, she is smart, tough, sarcastic, funny and realistic.
She sees things as they are, no sugarcoat or glitters, just reality, especially when her reality is turned upside down and she’s left to figure out her own life from a completely different angle.
She might be a warrior and one of the toughest characters I’ve ever read, but sometimes even love and hope aren’t enough. Sometimes your reality becomes dull and unbearable and it takes one very special person to pull you out of the haze and force you to face your worst fears while still lighting up a spark of hope inside your soul.
Jake is the captain of the soccer team, he’s handsome and caring, he’s powerful on and off the field, he’s book and street smart, willing to go the extra mile for those he cares about! He is close to his family and would do anything to make them happy, but all it takes is one crazy girl with the wits and confidence of a lioness to knock him on his *ss and make him see the world differently from the very first moment she flipped him the bird.
As I have stated before, this is no easy story. These characters will have to go to hell and back, and sometimes it almost feels likes there is no point even hoping at all for things to get better.
Sometimes you’ll laugh, others you’ll cry, others you will completely sob and beg for mercy, you might also swoon and smile, worry, shake and maybe even scream but it is all so rewarding in the end because you will open your eyes and see things you have never seen before.
Things you might have taken for granted or never even noticed before.
The actions that change these characters in this book will change you too, they make them stronger and well as you, they make will make you open your eyes and open your mind, allow things that have never even crossed your mind before to be the center of your attention.
You will feel every single tear, scream, laugh and smile you read about, and by the end of the book you will feel like a completely different person. You will be changed for the better.
If I still have not achieved the goal of convincing you to read this masterpiece than I am not sure what to tell you other than this is a Must-Read if you are daring enough to open yourself up and let you live through one of the craziest, most beautiful and painfully perfect experiences of your life.
This is the debut book from this author and I really enjoyed it. This story was so beautifully written. You are going to feel every emotion with each page of this book. Claire and Jake were so wonderful. All it takes is one incident to change your whole life in either a good way or a bad way. You have to learn to live with the results and make the best of it. Not let it rule you and your life. This story will have you feeling all types of emotions and it will be worth it by the time you are done. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. Can’t wait for Cole and Liam’s stories.
I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
I loved the relationship Claire was finally able to allow herself. The sibling story line was very realistic and comforting since I am close to my brothers. I’m excited to find out this is a trilogy and look forward to reading the next two. Well written, story moves along effortlessly.
I loved What Do You See?. It’s a tell unique story. Claire had her dreams close to being achieved then an accident happened that changed to course of her life. She battling a illness that causes symptoms that I have never seen tackled in book. She’s strong character. She likes to push people away and pretend she fine but Jake really sees her. Jake was a great character too. He’s sweet and nice. He’s patient with Claire and gives her just what she needs. This story had me hooked. It’s a heart string pulling story. I loved it from beginning to end and I truly wasn’t sure what the outcome of the story was going to be until the end. This one is one you should definitely one click.
I was captivated by What Do You See? from start to finish! It was definitely a storyline that is different from what you’re used to reading, which was very refreshing. The characters teach us what it is like to love unconditionally and to appreciate the small details in life. That even if something is taken away from us, it heightens everything else you feel thus strengthening a beauty one wouldn’t have been able to see before the loss. What Do You See? isn’t just about a beautiful love story. It’s also about Life’s little lessons that, at times, we tend to forget. “Have you ever just… taken a minute of your life to… look around, and see the beauty we take for granted?” It teaches us to see the beauty in everything around us and within us.
The story of Claire and Jake is one that will have you in tears then laughing within the next second, literally!
Claire and her triplet brothers, Liam and Cole, share such a strong bond. They are the protective “big” brothers (just being a few minutes older than her) who shower her with so much love, care, and attention. They’ll make you laugh at the most random times and have you crushing on them hard because of their devotion to their “baby” sister. Let’s face it, we all wish we had big brothers like her’s!
Jake’s love and loyalty truly shines throughout the book. He’s patient and understanding. Even in Claire’s darkest moments he remains strong, supportive, and persistent in making her see the future they can have together. Seriously, I need a Jake in my life!
Or… a Cole! Which I have to say, I can’t wait to hear Cole’s story, What Do You Regret?, on December 6th! Also, I’m seriously hoping there’ll be a story about Liam and reoccurrences from Claire & Jake!!!
Deeply emotional
At the end of this book i feel like I need to reflect on life and the things I take for granted .
It’s funny how a story can provoke a reaction like that , and because it has I just have to give it a five star rating .
This book is a romance , jake and Claire are freshman in college , they meet and have instant chemistry which continues and grows throughout the story . There isn’t a huge focus on the ‘heat’ between them but rather the growing chemistry and trust and intimacy…
And Jake is just so lovable and beautiful , supportive and kind . He’s gorgeous and perfect !!
However… there is also so much more going on .
Firstly Claire is one of a set of triplets , her brothers are just Devine!! They are very charismatic characters that I can’t wait to read more about ! Charming and funny and protective and just good people 😉
Without giving too much away – Claire is also battling loss , and the potential of a greater loss and is losing hope . Jake is there to help her and carry her and help her see beyond her challenges … it’s hard to explain without giving too much away , but their journey together has really made me not want to take small things for granted and to really open my eyes to the world around me.
It’s emotional and it’s inspiring . A truly beautiful read .
What Do You see? is K. Dosa l Mclendon’s debut release and it is a great start to what I predict will be a wonderful career. She managed to expertly weave several of my favorites into one 5-star read. Brothers best friend romance? Check. Funny sibling and family banter? Check. Protective older brothers? Check, even if it’s only by 10 minutes. Honest, raw emotions? Check.
These Characters were so fun to read about and get to know. They were real human characters who pulled me into their lives and made me feel like I was part of their family. I felt every up and down. Every bit of laughter and every tear shed pulled at my emotions. The only way I can think of to adequately describe my feelings about this story is to simply say I loved it and I can’t wait to get my hands on book 2!
Debut Novel What Do You See is beautiful.
Most of the books I’ve read recently have had the rough, tough, rude, brooding Alpha.
Jake though is not like that. He is ALLLLLLLLL MAN. But you see a softer side of him that sometimes those other males lack or you don’t see until much later. The support and love that Jake gives willingly is beautiful and breathtaking. It reminded me so much of my own Love.
This book hurts. It hurts because you see the struggle of Claire; physically and mentally. You see the struggle of those who love her. You see the struggle of letting someone in, then trying to push them back out. You see the struggle of being wanted, being needed. You feel the pain of their lives changing. You feel the pain of losing oneself.
But you see the beauty in family. The strength of friendship. The Power of love. You see someone at their weakest being loved so completely by those around her. You see the love of service. That when you love someone so completely caring for them is not a task, a burden, but a privilege. You see that when you truly care, you can see the person who they truly are. You see their needs before they voice it. You See Them.
Jake and Claire do have a bit of insta love connection. Love at First Sight. They are two souls connected that finally found each other. They are SO ADORABLE! Both Jake and Claire are a bit damaged in some way. They both are struggling. But they find each other and strengthen each other. Their love is true and fast.
I enjoyed reading this book and enjoyed talking about it with @k.dosalmclendon . If you want a sweet, filled with much emotion, and a pure look at love then read this debut novel. It was a sweet reminder to not take life and love for granted. To really look around you. To See.
I am emotionally wrecked. This book is incredibly well written. An utterly beautiful story with so much love, passion and the kind of sadness that grips your soul. I can’t wait to read book 2.
4 STARS
What a great debut novel by K. Dosal McLendon! A truly captivating story with a happily ever after!
My heart broke for Claire and her struggle to decide what outcome she wants for her future. I fell in love with Jake and how caring and supportive he was to Claire. These two had met under unusual circumstances, but somehow developed into so much more.
This is a MUST read romance that will give you all the feels! I highly recommend picking up this book! What Do You See? by K. Dosal McLendon will join the ranks of the BIBLIO-ELITE!!!
K blew me away with her debut. She handled complex themes with finesse and crafted a love story that I thoroughly enjoyed. I can’t wait to see what she releases next!
Wow. What an emotionally charged book this was, so raw and powerful. I found myself questioning how I would deal and it’s frightening. Claire is one strong heroine who I am still in awe of. u2063
She was a star athlete in college set for great things and after a tragic accident, the unthinkable happens and Claire is faced with losing her sight. She has a support system around her, she is a triplet with 2 brothers who are always there caring for her and I loved this dynamic with her siblings and the care and love they gave her. u2063
When she meets Jake, there is an instant connection between them, however, she tries to keep him away at first not wanting to be a burden. Slowly he makes his way into her heart. u2063
Jake is everything, he’s caring, trusting and helps break down all the walls she puts up to protect herself. Who wants to love and care for a soon to be blind girl? What he does to make her really ‘see’ and help her out of her depression is the sweetest most loving thing. u2063
Her doctors are keeping an eye on her condition but its deteriorating quickly meaning she will have to have an operation that could mean losing her eyesight fully but it’s the only solution for her, otherwise she will lose her sight. Will her sight be returned or will she have to live in complete darkness?u2063
I was so drawn into this book and was hooked from the first chapter. The characters were engaging and the story well planned. u2063
Be prepared for an exceptional love story that will tug at your emotions and give you all the good feels of a great romance read. Bravo for a debut novel and I’m looking forward to the next book in the series already. u2063

This is my first book by this author and it was amazing. I had all kinds of emotions through this story and it made me stop and think ” how many simple things do I take for grated”. The writing was good, the characters were good, the brothers were amazing. The parents in this story were amazing and only wanted the best for their kids. Great great job on this story and thank you so much for the ARC and letting me read this !!!
This story was phenomenal! What a great debut release from K. I can genuinely say I cannot wait to read more from her!
In this story we meet Claire. It’s kind of a fun story because she is a triplet and has 2 brothers, Cole & Liam. Claire has a medical issue where she is losing her sight and at times you can feel so much of the emotion she is going through dealing with this. She catches the eye of Jake who happens to be on the soccer team with her brothers. He’s the ultimate book boyfriend! Of course it ends with a HEA. It also teaches the reader not to take the simplest things in life for granted. In the epilogue we get to meet Grace who has a history with Cole I cannot wait to read their book!!!
What Do You See? (What Do You? Series Book 1) Where do I even begin with this book? Right off the bat the blurb drew me in. The first three pages, and I was hooked! It’s so not typically a story that I would read, but I was completely enthralled with the words I was reading. Claire’s struggles and climaxes we’re really what this book was all about for me. It made me sit around and think about life; imagine a million different scenarios, what I would do if I was in that situation, what I would miss, regret, etcetera. If you’re looking for a light read, this book is not for you. But, if you’re looking for something with depth, that will make you really sit down and think, then this book will deliver and give you so much more! It will take you and your emotions on a roller coaster ride, your heart teetering on the edge. I cannot wait for Cole’s story! K Dosal

English:
“What do you see?” by K. Dosal McLendon is the first book I’ve read by this author, but I’m sure it’s not the last, and I’m looking forward to reading “What do you regret?”. It’s a very romantic new adult novel that you’ll need a Kleenex box next to you because you’re going to need a lot of them. This story is very emotional, sweet with characters that stole your heart.
Claire Raynolds had it all planned out for her future, university, athletics… But a car accident makes her whole future go wrong, and she has to go from doctor to doctor looking for answers and solutions to her big problem. Jake Lockwood is used to a different life and focused until a new girl appeared that would change his life, although he will have to show her happiness.
Claire was a sweet, charismatic protagonist, willing to give up, but at the same time with the necessary strength to continue and not get stuck. Her character gave me sadness but at the same time hope. She is the youngest member of the family so she is very loved. The relationship with her siblings was fun, and they had a lot of love for each other. Those moments where she wanted to surrender, but she had at her side people who support her and encourage her. Jake is the soccer player you think is the arrogant-bad-boy, but instead, he is the most loving person, and with Claire he is super sweet, always looking for her happiness and her well-being.
I’m dying to know what will happen with the other brothers, but especially with Cole and Grace.

This was an extremely emotional read, but exceptionally beautiful nevertheless. I would never have thought this was a debut novel!
It really makes you appreciate life and not to take things for granted. Learning to live with the possibility that you will lose something you know you’ve always taken for granted can have its toll on your life, both mentally and emotionally.
Claire was once an average girl, she had her dream and she was going for it until one accident took everything and her life was never the same. Then came Jake who fell for Claire instantly. I love how Jake cared for her until she couldn’t resist and caved in. He’s the sweetest guy for understanding someone who’s scared emotionally like Claire. I just love Claire and Jake’s characters and the relationship they have!
This heartfelt story was so well-written and you can personally feel the emotions between Claire and Jake. It was so beautiful! This had the right amount of angst, drama and romance. For me, it was an all around perfect read. I really enjoyed it!
3.5 stars
The blurb for this book hooked me instantly. There was something so enticing about the unknown for the main character Claire and her medical issue. I was pleasantly surprised that this was the author’s debut novel!
I really enjoyed the story line and the build up of emotions and what if’s. It was heartbreaking and emotional. Claire’s character was flawed and imperfect and I loved her so much more for it. Her brothers while comedic and fun, were also so supportive and her rocks. Her support system, while small, was so important for the main character and her medical and emotional struggles.
Jake the hero was so sweet, attentive and all around perfection. He stopped at nothing to make sure Claire had what she needed, always felt comfortable and was cared for. He was almost too perfect and a tad unrealistic.
The writing was wonderful. It was easy to read and full of detail and expression. At times it was slow and the dialogue was somewhat cheesy but overall I really liked this author’s writing style. The story flowed well and built up to the plot perfectly.
I had an issue with the instant love in this story. For a couple that was going through so much, it just seemed unrealistic the way their feelings fell into place so quickly. Their relationship also felt very juvenile and too sweet. It felt like I was reading a high school romance, not a college couple on the verge of graduation.
For a new adult romance book, I was expecting so much more in the “romance” department. This book had SO much potential for incredible bedroom scenes that just didn’t happen. I won’t hold that against the author since it’s a personal preference but if that’s the type of read you’re looking for, this novel was very safe and fade to black on all intimacy scenes. Again, a super sweet and sugar coated love story.
