Looks like the start of an interesting series.
The plot was at times difficult to follow, but all the twists and turns led the reader to a satisfying conclusion. The historical background was accurate…another reminder of man’s inhumanity to man..All in all, a good read.
Well written ,keeps you interested.
Great book. Love the author. Have and will read more of her.
I’ve become a huge fan of Sebastian St Cyr!
Love this series. If you love period pieces a la Sherlock Holmes this is for you.
Excellent regency who done it
I’m glad I read the author’s note at the end. Initially I was put off—another too pretty hero who outsmarts everyone with his intelligence, superhuman abilities, and seemingly inexhaustible supply of energy. Really? I’m not into tawdry melodrama! But every time I was about to stop reading, something compelled me to give it another try. Lots of red herrings and twists and turns made me overlook the stock characters (the whore with the heart of gold, the totally evil sadist) and I am glad I persevered.
I love this series..well-drawn and unique characters, good mystery, some heart-tugging roadblocks, and a satisfying ending leaving a door open for the next book.
Great addition to the series.
Really enjoyed this mystery and am looking forward to reading more in this series. The author deftly draws historic scenarios and makes the characters and plot intriguing.
Immensely Enjoyable!
Ms. Harris has created both the characters and a visual landscape to fit the 1800’s in, and around London. You can feel the chill in the air as the perpetual fog swirls around this marvelously written who dun it murder mystery!
There are so many suspects to a gruesome murder but the one guy that’s actually innocent is being chased through the upper and lower establishments by the Bow Street police who are totally convinced “he’s their man”. The characters Sebastian St. Cyr meets as he tries to find the real killer and clear his name run the full gamut of sweet, rich, poor, mean, secretive and seductive.
You might think you have it all figured out … but don’t be too sure!
I highly recommend this book, and I look forward to reading more of C.S. Harris’ Sebastian St. Cyr Mysteries!
Regency historical mystery series: I’ve spent a delightful summer binge reading the thirteen books in the series. Sebastian St. Cyr is a wonderful main character and the slow burn romance threaded through is also wonderful.
Mystery surrounding Sebastian being accused of murder and finding out who really killed these women.
