I was drawn into the book from the start & gripped until the last page, there were twists and turns that I wasn’t expecting. I loved that Cora was the experienced one, the role reversal unusual but it certainly worked. This is the second book in the series & it could easily be read on its own but I liked that there were links to other stories by the author. The locations of the book were different & the fact that Bentley & Cora were older all added to my enjoyment. I’d love for Bentley & Cora to feature in future books & they would be great in a series like Miles & Emmaline
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
Finally, a romance where the roles are reversed when it comes to experience in passion!!! This may just be the couple to match Emmaline and Miles. There is an intense spark between them from the start that I was just waiting to explode. And it did not disappoint! They were met with challenge after challenge as they searched for the orchids and tried to work out their feelings. There are many twists and turns to who, what, and why that I wasn’t even close to being 100% right. That made it perfect! I laughed at how Gibbs and her assistant kept giving them advice. I held my breath at the end and then laughed when they escaped.
Cora is no where near what I expected and I loved it! She is definitely capable of taking care of herself, but she deserves true love. I loved her from the start with how devoted she was to her work and saving others. Even though she was strong she was hurt by her husband and past more than she thought.
Bentley is charming, sweet, and adorable (never thought I would say that about a hero). Trouble finds him everywhere, but he always comes out it alive. I absolutely loved his journal entries because they added so much to the story. His heart was lost to her the moment he saw her in that locket.
We got hints of Bentley in India and I so happy to see his story. There are Indian Jones and National Treasure vibes throughout the story and I love. I hope to see these two again. I also love that they are older than most couples.

WOW… What an Adventure. What a Wayward Lord Needs by Sandra Sookoo is book 2 in the Lords of Happenstance series. Though in a series this book can be read as a standalone. From page one to the very last page this book engulfed me, I could not put it down. Sandra has such a creative mind and wonderful characters that it makes this book a must read. Set in the regency era you get to travel to the jungles of Venezuela and on treasure hunt were anything can happen, there is danger all around and still a romance blooms. This story has poisonous frogs, poisonous orchids, death, kidnapping, crocs, monkeys, ants that bite, banter, misunderstandings, a loveless marriage, a virgin, a strong intelligent women, a very happy assistant, a devoted valet, earthquakes, attempted murder, betrayal, beautiful waterfalls and yes love. I highly recommend you read this book.
***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.
I was so excited to read Bentley’s story and see how he completed his first mission for the crown. With the first book in the series, there was a hint of where he would end up and the adventure begins! Tracking down a widow in the jungles of Venezuela definitely was a challenge.. But when he finds Cora and demands she return to England for questioning on the death of a peer, she refuses. Determined to find and destroy a toxin, she created by mistake, or it could destroy all on earth. Wow? Yes, this is an exciting adventure I could almost see as a movie taking place! An intriguing plot that could lead to much more than saving the world, but also finding a treasure well hidden.
As passion flairs between Bentley and the older, experienced Cora ( don’t you love it?), they are thrown into danger and as time is of the essence, their quest becomes critical.
A truly enjoyable fast paced tale that kept me entertained until the end. There are several enchanting facets and I could only smile as I turned the last page.
In typical Sandra Sookoo fashion, the well written characters and descriptions made this story come alive and left me hoping the next story in this series would come out soon!!
