Music is a bitch mistress.
Getting the job as a backup singer in the breakout rock band Killer Valentine is the chance of a lifetime for curvy, redheaded Rhiannon Macallen. She has spent every moment of the last five years preparing for her shot at the spotlight with a breakneck schedule of music lessons, band performances, and voice coaching that has consumed every second of her life and every … second of her life and every penny from her poverty-level part-time job.
The contract she signs has an ironclad no-fraternization clause: no screwing around with the band members.
But Killer Valentine is falling apart. Drugs, groupies, and the rock-and-roll lifestyle are seducing the rockers despite the desperate efforts of the lead singer and the band manager, a green-eyed, gorgeous hunk named Jonas Rees.
Rhiannon tries to help Jonas hold the band together, but every time they retrieve one of the rockers from another drug-addled disaster, Jonas’s sultry looks and lingering touches make her yearn for what might have been.
Unless she’s willing to risk her only chance at stardom for love.

Well written realistic plot… enjoyed it
This novella gives the reader some behind the scenes details of the rock band Killer Valentine, through the band’s manager Jonas Rees, and the new back-up singer Rhiannon Macallen. This book fills in details for the rest of this series, and will make your reading of the books more enjoyable. Both characters are well developed, and are both very likeable. Great short book!
I really do enjoy Blair Babylon, and if you are a fan, then do read this as it’s part of the big story unfortunately, it just wasn’t as great/enjoyable/edgy as the other Billionaire’s in Disguise that I have read. I do look forward to Tryp’s story.
Another great book written by Blair Babylon! Finally the book about Jonas and Rhiannon! If you want a romance along with hot scenes then read this. We learn more about Rhiannon who is a back up singer for the rock group Killer Valentine and how she falls for the band manager Jonas. Each of them have their own demons to put to rest along with trying to keep the band together. Throw in love and now you have a complete story that will blow you away.
I have been a fan of Blair Babylon’s writing since first reading book #1 in the Billionaires in Disguise Series featuring Rae and Wulf. I was pleased to read that the author’s writing style continued to exceed all my expectations in “What a Girl Wants”. The depiction of the world of living life in a rock band is so vividly described that I often wondered if the author was herself a musician or at one point was in a rock band. Her use of imagery easily transported my imagination into the workings of the daily lifestyle that comes with being in an up in coming rock band such as Killer Valentine. Jonas’ and Rhiannon’s love story flowed easily and I truly enjoyed “watching” these two slightly broken individuals come together and finally find comfort and a sense of home with each other. I look forward to reading the next book in the series featuring the band’s drummer, Trypp, as well as one day finding out what the author has in store for the other members of Killer Valentine, such as Xan and Cadell.
Another great read by Blair Babylon! Blair’s writing is fun and colorful. She really draws you into the characters and makes you want to cheer on your favorite characters. Looking forward to more books in the series. Haven’t read a book by Blair I haven’t liked!
We have 22 year old Rhiannon who is a singer and struggling but when we learn more about her it just all goes with her attitude.
She has gone to a competition to be backup singer for the band Killer Valentine. When she lands the position she is overjoyed because unlike the Barbie doll types who were there she is not like any of them she is a bit chubby and doesn’t think to high of herself in the beauty department. She signs their contract and makes plans.
Rule of the band. NO messing with the band members or your fired that was repeated to her many times.
The lead singer has some issues at a few of their tour stops and Rhiannon steps in not only that a few of the band members are drugged out, not doing as they are suppose to and again its Rhiannon to the rescue..
But then it happens Jonas Rees the bands Manager causes Rhiannon to almost lose her position in the band.
Well I am not going to tell you anything more because yea no spoilers.. This was a really easy read, I enjoyed it and I would recommend it.
A wild whirlwind of a story that will leave you reevaluating what the most important things in life are. Once this mysterious train leaves the station, be prepared for a no-holds barred peek into the life of an up-and-coming rock band. Not only will you see life as it appears from our perspective, but you will see it first hand from a character who invests her heart and soul to be a part of their world. It’s not always pretty, but its honesty will challenge the hearts of all involved and force them to decide what matters most.
Rhiannon has spent most of her adult life doing everything possible to break into the sacred yet fickle world of music. She lives out a meager existence meeting only the barest of her needs in order to lavish what she can on voice lessons, music instruction, band experience, and anything else she can possibly find to help make her more appealing to the music business. All of her hard work seems to pay off when she is hired as a backup singer to the hottest new rock band in the industry – Killer Valentine. Will all of her sacrificing and hard work pay off with this incredible opportunity, or will this become her greatest nightmare by far?
Rhiannon is an amazing character who immediately captured my attention and my heart. She wasn’t the picture of perfection by any means and yet there was something that enraptured the lead singer of Killer Valentine to want to hire her immediately after her audition. Xan saw something in her that led him to believe that she was more then she seemed. He was willing to take a huge chance on an unknown nobody like her because he could see the fire and the potential that lay dormant in her heart. Rhiannon proved to be the unique and priceless jewel that Xan caught a glimpse of through her professionalism on the stage and her personal interactions with the band off-stage. She became a trusted friend and a musical equal that both thrilled and warmed her heart. What she gained from her time with the band was something that she would cherish and treasure for the rest of her life.
Blair Babylon has created a beautiful work of art with this short yet poignant story of showing us that things are not always what they seem. If we would take a closer look at those around us, we might discover that there is more to people then we give them credit for. We are taught to make quick judgments and assessments of each other in order to not waste time on our way to making our dreams come true. However, if we would only take a minute or two to really see each other, we just might find exactly what we are looking for. Why settle for second best when the best that life has to offer you is standing right in front of you? What we imagine perfection is might not be what is perfect for us.
I wrote this review back in September 2014.
I enjoyed reading this book; it’s the first book by Blair Babylon that I’ve read (I own others but just haven’t read them yet). I suspect that I may be a little older than her target audience for this book but that didn’t keep me from wanting to read it when I was offered an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I would caution you that if you don’t like references to drugs, and what is probably the seedier side of a rock star’s life, you may not want to read this. However, know that the main characters do not indulge and, in fact, try to prevent others from indulging so this didn’t bother me.
The heroine is a down on her luck aspiring singer. Her trials and tribulations after joining a major band, and the interactions between the characters, were interesting to read. I’m not really sure why but this book didn’t invoke a lot of deep emotion for me as I read it (something I usually enjoy in a book) but, again, I still enjoyed reading it.
While this book is part of the Rock Stars in Disguise series it is a complete story with an HEA. After reading it you may want to continue reading the other books but you won’t feel like you’ve been left hanging. I should also say that this is the first “rock star” type of romance that I’ve read. I suspect if you enjoy that genre you will like this book.
Blair has given us a brand new series that are going to be stand alone books, which means no cliffhangers! I absolutely love her writing, as she is able to pull the reader into the story and make us feel like we are a part of it. It was so easy to fall in love with Rhiannon and Jonas. This is not a BDSM book, per se, but there is plenty of hot, steamy scenes for us to enjoy. I look forward to reading the next story, which will be about Tryp.
**Complimentary Copy provided by Author for an honest review, but then I also bought the book!!**
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was nice to see the other sides to the hard as nails manager. Seeing him falling in love was cute & sexy as hell. Watching the struggling backing singer find her feet, confidence & then love was blissful, They’re great together!! I hope Rhiannon gets a follow up short story or epilogue as her career takes off. It would actually be lovely to see them all meet up again some form after the final epilogue in Cadell, for instance, so we can see where they all are now …. Blair??? LOL
(Xan wasn’t very kind in this book btw)
Highly recommend this series. This author is truly gifted with the written word!!

Enjoyed this book. It is another in this series that is a stand alone but part of the over all story. I have enjoyed all the books in this series. On to the next!
Cheesy tag line that I made up ahead:
Rhiannon wants to be a professional singer she never thought she would find love along the way.
This was a good book to read. It was fast paced and the characters flowed really well. I was surprised when I got to the end because I was not ready for it to end yet.
I feel that this is tamer compared to some other books that are wrote by Blair but it did not affect the story at all.
I like that this is a stand alone book but knowing I can read about the other band members is pretty neat as well.
Great characters but didn’t really grab me.
An amazing story
enjoyed this quick read.
very steamy, my favorite author when I want to escape
