Weston was at an impasse in his life, after hearing about his unknown daughter, who’d already been adopted by another family. Only the father had since passed away… So … accepting the mission to track down the missing, blind-in-one-eye, limping war dog named Shambhala—in Alaska—was exactly where he needed to be to sort out this other issue in his life. Finding the dog turned out to be easier than … than Weston had expected, but sorting out how and why this dog’s owner’s had been murdered was something else again.
Now a widower, Danielle knew her daughter also needed a father, so she’d contacted Weston, not sure if he even knew of the baby’s existence. When he said he was on the way, she was concerned at what she’d started and that emotion then turned to terror when Sari’s birth mother showed up at Danielle’s doorstep, looking for her daughter again.
Things turn ugly when Weston’s war dog investigation impacts his daughter’s life and her new mother. He must do something, or everything he’s finally found will be lost.

Another touching and heartwarming K9 Files adventure with relatable characters you want to know more about and a captivating story that included mystery, suspense, family drama and so much more. I loved Weston who goes to Alaska to track down Shambhala and enjoyed his dynamic with his daughter Sari and her adoptive mother, Daniela. Once again, Ms. Mayer has given us a must-read book and now I’m waiting for book nine in this series from this gifted author. I received an advance reader copy of “Weston” from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review.
I love this series…it’s all about the dogs…ok, the people are interesting too.
Weston is off to Alaska, he’s not only finding a dog but meeting his young daughter. That was the easy part! We have a mystery, a murder and plenty of drama to keep us entertained, and a little loving too. Great story, I was glued to my kindle.
He needed to do something with his life and when he is asked to find a dog, he does it. He then finds out he has a daughter who has been given to another family. He finds them but the mother turns up wanting her back. Can he sort it all out? Will he become the father his child needs? How is he going to cope? See if they can become a family

This book had me from the very first. It is well developed story line that has everything, a hunky hero, a strong heroine, a cute baby, and a K9. The twist and turns, mystery, and action will keep you turning pages. The chemistry between all the characters and the cuteness of the baby and the K9 has you pulling for them at every turn. I really enjoyed this story and highly recommend.
If you love animals, you will love the stories of the hero dogs knowing there will be a happily ever after.

This is a great addition to the series. I loved the plot. Weston goes to Alaska to not only check in on Shambhala, a War Dog who has gone missing, but to see his daughter. The daughter that he didn’t know about until after his one-night stand gave her up for adoption. The woman who adopted Sari, after she found out who the father was, called him to come to Alaska to see his 18 month old daughter.
This was a wonderful story that was told in a dual POV format. I really like reading both of the characters’ thoughts. It helps me to identify and connect with them so much better. The story was so good that I stayed up late to finish it.
I just had to see how all the different mysteries would be solved. I was sad to see this one end. I was really ready to continue on with their story.
If you love military romance (and really who doesn’t!) and a strong female, a baby and a K-9, then this story is one that is a must. Now there was a slightly sexy scene. It was highly glossed over so it should not offend anyone but I can only highly recommend this story to someone OVER the age of 18.
Weston by Dale Mayer
The K9 Files Series Book Eight
Weston Thurlow has enjoyed working for Titanium Corp but is ready for more. So, he accepted the mission to go and find one of the missing War Dogs. Shambhala. In Alaska. It seems he had a connection in Alaska…a daughter. The adoptive mom wanted him to meet her, and it appeared now would be a good time.
Daniela Rogers loved little Sari. After her husband got sick…then died, Sari was all she had. And yet, Daniela felt so strongly about the birth father having a place in her daughter’s life. The only fear she had would be if he would try to take her away…after all, he’d never signed the papers to give her up.
This series is always page-turning, action-packed, with a side of romance. Wonderful characters and dogs.

This was an awesome story and I just loved it. Characters were awesome, believable and sweet! The K9 files have just been a joy! I love the animals, the couple and the different parts of the world we get to visit. In this one Weston finds his special someone, a child he did not know he had and a special animal friend. Let’s not forget solving a murder and the action and suspense. All in all a great read!

I have read all on this series. Love the
Weston heard about a missing War Dog right after hearing he is a daddy. Daddy, nope not married, no one told him they were pregnant but there is a toddler, Sari, wanting to know her Daddy. Since the only one she has known is now gone. Well, the adoptive mother Danielle, recently widowed, wants him to know his daughter. It is only right. He had no say on anything as the mother simply failed to let him know for reasons only she would know. The missing war dog was last seen in AK. He is headed there to find Shambala and see if all is well, these well-trained dogs deserve much better than they have gotten. They are heroes, they deserve to be retired well-loved.
This is a another great book in the K-9 War Dogs series and if you love men of action, even if wounded and carrying on with their lives as well as dogs, then you will love this series. Each book can be read alone or one after the other. You will never be sorry to buy a Dale Mayer Book. She writes about anything and everything and takes on issues some might leave alone. They are always interesting and worth the read. They can be scary, make you think, make you feel and cry and laugh.

Weston goes looking for a war dog, Shambhala; but finds a maybe family with Daniela and her adopted daughter Sari. Oh, and he just learned he is Sari’s dad. This book does not slow down. There are fast moving engaging scenes that you cannot put down. The interaction the characters have with each other and themselves is totally believable. Cannot wait to go looking for next missing war dog.

This is a great read. You get a little of everything; mystery, action, betrayal, great characters, and a happily ever after. Shambhala bonds easily with her new family, especially Sari. Really captures your attention from beginning to end.

Dale Mayer has created another heart-stopping page-turner for her K9 Files series.
Weston, a former SEAL has just recovered from injuries he received while on a mission. So he decides to accept a short mission to Alaska to find a missing retired military dog.
While there, Weston plans to meet his daughter. She was adopted out before he even knew of her existence. Danielle, her adopted mother, contacts Weston after her husband die, with the hope that he will become part of her life.
.
In Alaska, Weston discovers that the former owners of the missing dog died in a car crash in what is probably a murder. To make matters worse, the “birth mother” of his daughter is coming to take her daughter away from Danielle.
The missing dog is discovered early in the book. However, once the dog is found, Weston, Danielle, his dog and their daughter are all in constant danger from the murderer of the dog’s owners and, also, from their daughter’s “birth mother.”
The rest of the book is filled with suspense and intrigue. It all builds up to an action-packed, heads will roll, ending.
Weston is looking for something more to do, when he asked about the dogs, other have been finding. He’s has some K-9 training, and is interested. Badger has just the dog, in the right place! Shambhala a half blind, 3 legged dog, needs to be followed up on. Luckily Weston also found out that he had a daughter, he didn’t know about, in the same place! Daniela lost her husband to cancer, and had reached out to Weston, to find out he never knew about Sari. Angel the birth mother is a piece of work and brings all the drama and crime with her! I loved this story! Lot’s to keep you on the edge of your seat, all the way to the end!
This is an enjoyable read. Weston’s book has a lot going on as the storyline unfolds. The storyline is filled with a complex blend of emotion, drama, tension, suspense, turmoil, mystery and twists. The book is well written and engaging. All together a very entertaining read and a solid addition to this wonderful series. I am freely posting a forthright review.
It’s time for Weston to finally go to Anchorage and see his daughter he never knew he had fortunately there is also a K9 to look for while he is there, but things do not go as expected almost straight away. Daniela isn’t what Weston expected however he can see she is an amazing Mum and when he meets his daughter Sari he is thrown thrown through a raft of emotions and stuck trying to decide all in or all out. At first it looks like finding Shambhala is going to be the easy part of the trip however twists and surprises start popping up as well as a cray cray Angel and you are dying to know how everything fits together and to get there you go through plenty of highs and lows with the emotions!!
I really love the k-9 series and the characters that are in the books! This book had great characters and a great storyline! I loved how the characters interacted and worked through the problems that came along as they were learning new things about each other. I loved the k-9 and how it interacts with characters in the book. This book was awesome and look forward to reading the next in the series!

Weston takes us to Alaska. He has a daughter that was adopted unknowingly. He goes to meet her and to check on a war dog that is also blind in one eye and has gone missing.
Daniela took in Sari and loves her as her own and wants her to know Weston.
Weston has the job of finding the dog and getting to know his daughter and her bio mom starts trouble.
Will the child find happiness?
Babies and dogs. Nothing gets better than that! Weston goes to Alaska to locate a missing war dog and while he is there he wants to meet his 18 month old daughter. A one night stand with slutty Angel resulted in a baby who she put up for adoption but Weston just found out about this. The baby’s adopted mother contacted him and asked him to come to Alaska to meet his daughter.
I thought this story was the best of the series so far. Each one of the series just gets better and better. You can’t go wrong with a book by Dale Mayer.

This is my favorite so far from the K9 series with Weston and Daniela. Weston goes to Alaska to find a retired service dog that was adopted by a couple but haven’t heard anything from them when checking in. He has ties to Alaska, a huge one that he didn’t know about until months earlier….he’s a dad and his daughter, Sari, was adopted by Daniela and her late husband. He’s going for two reasons, to find the dog and meet his daughter. When he gets there he is impressed by the woman who adopted Sari and finds the dog….but things don’t add up where the adopted couple of the dog are concerned and now Sari’s birth mom is threatening to take Sari back….Weston has his hands full, can he handle it all.
A great read with a bit of steam and suspense as Weston tries to figure out the mystery surrounding the dog and Sari’s birth mom. The story flowed nicely, little to no drama between them and great characters.
