That was FUN! It has been a while since I’ve read a choose your own adventure book. This was much better than the ones I read when I was younger. Danger, darkness, and interesting characters lurk within the pages. I loved it!
This is the first interactive book I have ever read and I LOVED it.
The first set of choices that I made were relatively ‘safe’ ones and the story ended very quickly with me being drained by a vampire.
For my second attempt at the story, I let my curiosity have it’s head and the story went for a lot longer, allowing me a greater insight to the folks of Castle Cove. It ended with me learning the reason behind my coming to Castle Cove. I could tell you but you need to discover that yourself.
My third attempt was actually The Author’s Choice. If you want to find out how that played out, you’ll have to read it yourself.
Welcome To Castle Cove is a book you can come back to time and time again as every choice you make will lead you down a different path. Where will your choices lead you?
Welcome to Castle Cove – a review by Rosemary Kenny
This most enjoyable book by Mistress of Intrigue, Kory M Shrum, is an adult version of childhood favorites, the Choose Your Own Adventure books, in which the reader is the central character and, after a prologue about ‘your’ failed romance in Baltimore, new job and work colleagues and room-mate Katie in the Cove, gives multiple choice ‘chapters’ to make up your own adventure, as many times as you like, with different results each time!
Episodes include, encounters with vampires and werewolves, a mysterious nightclub called Labyrinth, where your secret desires can come true, perils and romances, becoming a vampire, becoming a werewolf, being ‘enrolled’ by Vendetta, an ancient being, to protect her son Ethan, in the guise of ‘your’ boss, Mr Benedict and many more!
A fascinating and enjoyable way to pass an hour or two and great value for money, as, in effect you’re getting several books for the price of one!
You get to choose, and unlike life, you can reset and start over. This book was lots of fun, as well as being somewhat spooky. It’s an excellent introduction to the “many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics that
asserts the objective reality of the universal
wavefunction and denies the actuality of
wavefunction collapse” (Wikipedia). In other words, every choice you make splits your timeline, and both choices continue, each in its own new reality. You can’t go back and undo your choices, except in this book. Which makes it fun, seeing the consequences of different choices. Keep track of your choices, and don’t stop with just one story; go back and investigate many different story lines.
When I like a story and I don’t want it to end this is the perfect novel for me. I can go back to the beginning make a different choice and voila the story takes another turn!i it’s very clever and keeps your readers engaged and give them a sense of control too!
