Really enjoyed this book
I loved this book. Great characters read the sequel as well. Wonderful writing
Great book. Remarkable story. Surprise ending.
Just loved this storyline and just bought her next book Hooked. Great writer!!!!
Easy read
Enjoyed reading this book.
A nice easy going read. There is much emotional tension over a past misunderstanding and a lack of trust for the present and future. Friends and so-called friends all have ulterior motives and seem to make things more difficult whether they try to or not. A pleasant read, pretty predictable.
It’s nice to see things working out for people
Loved it!
Feel good book. Very delightful and realistic.
Not the best book I’ve ever read but I stayed with it and would probably recommend it. The characters could have solved a lot of their troubles if they had just checked out their information and didn’t just follow their assumptions.
Starting Over
Jo comes back to the one place she felt loved when her Uncle Ray left her his lodge and also part to her sister Sam. But there us a lot of work needed to be done. They end up selling and the in be man she has always loved us also there. Can Jo and Callum work it ouyt.
I love a good hometown romance, and this one has me hooked on the series! I’ve read my way through all of them in the past week, and can’t wait for the next one!
Wedding Bands is a great story. Jo and Callum are almost too realistic. They had to learn to disregard the lies they were being fed. A couple of times I wanted to smack some sense into them, If they would just talk to each other! But when you are raised by a father like Callum’s you have to understand his mindset. An interesting story of second chances and the start of the River’s Sigh B & B.
This was a highly entertaining story. The best part, for me, was the believable characters. Although I appreciate some reviewers complaints that the miscommunication between Jo and Callum was a bit extreme, and at times frustrating, it was also, unfortunately, true to life. Jo is a very likeable, relatable, confident and independent woman. She hasn’t had an easy life, and her history with Callum is fraught with troubles and heartache. It’s not surprising she would be cautious. Callum is a charming, likeable guy, and even though I wanted to smack him a few times, I still felt he was believable, and (except maybe for one teeny tiny second) kept deserving another chance. So many men are truly lousy at communicating about their feelings. He felt like a real life, slightly-less-than-alpha-but-still-lovable hero who had a lot of baggage to work through. The kind we actually have to live with! Personally I would have liked a bit more heat. This added pull might have compensated somewhat for all the pushing away, and kept the reader as invested in the romance as these characters were in each other. Overall this is a great intro to an appealing fictional world and I look forward to reading more from Ev Bishop. The writing was high quality and the story very engaging and entertaining
Their young love was crushed under the weight of family pressures, insecurities and miscommunication. Jo never forgot Callum or the pain he caused her when he never showed on the night they were to defy everyone and cement their love. She left town, he stayed and now years later, Jo has returned and is embroiled in a legal battle over an inheritance left to her and her sister, and Callum is his sister’s legal advisor. Callum is cold, hard and condescending, but Jo cannot help but wonder why, he is the one who walked out on her, the one who did not love her enough or believe in her enough and his reaction to seeing her and her attempt to hang on to her inheritance only solidified her pain of the past.
I couldn’t lay it down wanting to see the ending.
Second chance romance, with some nasty exes and previous crushes to throw a loop in the works. I liked Jo’s optimism and drive to try follow her dreams.
I’m not sure what happened to my review from 2016, but I don’t mind writing a new one. I love a good second chance romance, and this one is such a sweet story full of frustrating misunderstandings. These two lovers, Jo and Callum, are ready to get married when his father comes between them. Callum goes on to college, and Jo doesn’t return to town until 15 years later when she inherits her uncle’s property which she shares with her sister Samantha.
Of Course, the two can’t avoid each other in this small town, but they have to work through the past pain in order to find a future together. There’s a communication problem that causes most of the frustration I had with the story, and it seems to be a hard one to overcome for the two of them. It doesn’t help that there are background characters – mostly Dave and Nina who are simply the troublemakers of the story – who try to come between them at every turn. There’s not question that the story ends in an HEA, but it takes a lot of work to get there.
I loved this story, and I left me wanting the next chapter and wanting to visit the B & B in the picturesque mountain setting.
