Web of Lies is the fourth book in the Brook Brothers series and, in my opinion, the best of the series to date.
Set on the western coast of the United States, this story deviates from the previous New York based books, and this time Nate is under the spotlight – somewhere he is clearly very comfortable. Also, because it is predominately set in glorious sunshine, the reader can enjoy the full benefit of the fun, warm tone set by the author – says the girl writing the review in the middle of Winter.
It is fantastic to see a completely different side of the moody, taciturn and complex Nate, especially once he meets his match in feisty little Dex. Whilst this book does not have a traditional big-bad, you finally get to the bottom of his issues with his brothers as well as the author neatly tying up the loose ends from The Blame Game.
I devoured this book. Couldn’t put it down and loved every second of it. I’m just disappointed to have finished it, but am bracing myself for a re-read. Oh, and by the way, I am claiming Nate as mine. #notupfordebate
Highly recommended.
The forth and final book for the Brooks brothers.
Nate is the youngest of the Brooks brothers and, while he hasn’t made much of an appearance in the previous books other that some surly comments towards the others during his very infrequent visits, my was he worth the wait.
Dex is the perfect leading lady to Nate’s character. She is small but feisty and keeps him on his toes.
I really don’t want to add any more about the plot and give away any spoilers as this is too much of a fantastic read to spoil.
All in all this is definitely my favourite book of the series and yet it is also quite bittersweet as we say goodbye to these characters. I just hope that they all have a starring role in the Draven and Zane spin-offs that are in the works.
Well this author definitely saved the best till last in this conclusion of the Brook Brothers series, and boy was Nate Hot! and Dex was just what he needed in a girlfriend.
Dex is PA to Nate’s agent where for the last six months he hasn’t even noticed her,but when Nate walks through the door this time she is there to stop him going in as he is already in a meeting.Nothing goes to plan and a chance meeting between the two later in the week and Dex is going to give Nate a piece of her mind for losing her her job which she desperately needs.
Nate is a actor cocky, good looking but with a attitude and loves a challenge, so when Dex confronts him and tears into him in public he can’t help but take up the challenge to see where this will take them. They are both keeping secrets that could tear each other apart, this is all about trust and love which to Nate he doesn’t want any part of as it is destroying him piece by piece.
This was a hot sexy steamy read between Nate and Dex that will leave you panting for more,i will tell you there was plenty of sizzling sex that will keep you glued to your kindle and all the feels of a romance that will leave you smiling as you get stuck right into this story.
I am sorry that this series has finished as i loved the Brook Brothers, even though they can be a arse sometimes but i loved all the banter when they are all together like a real family.I love this authors style of writing as it grips you and pulls you into her story and world building like no other.I can’t recommend this series enough.Five Huge Sexy Nate Stars.
You know when a book just makes you fall in love? That’s what i did with Web of Lies. Now I know that Nate has A LOT of followers so I’m not even going to pretend he’s mine. (He’s not who I want anyway) However I could get on board with a couple of one nighters if you catch my drift.
Nate is funny, charismatic, energetic, sexy, confident and smooth. He has this swag almost. Like he knows he’s all that. Pretty much like Calum but where Calum is brusque, Nates is more like the cheeky chappy kind of guy. Definitely not the guy next door, but more like the guy who you’d be friends with benefits with and occasionally let through the back door.
The storyline was just light and funny. I know there are more serious things at play in the book but for me it was the camaraderie and the cheekiness of it. His relationship with Dex was hilarious, like he was lightening the mood almost.
Their passion though was hot though. Once they let go they couldn’t get enough. I love that.
I keep going on about the lightness of the book but that’s what really sold it for me. I understood the undercurrent but what shined through was the light.
Thoroughly enjoyed their story. Delaney certainly saved the best til last with these Brook Brothers. Having said that I’m not the kind of woman who’d say no to any of them. #UnapologeticallyUnFussy
4.5 Stars – You need Nate in your life! Trust me!
Who would have thought?! I had absolutely no expectations for this book because although I liked the previous ones, Cash and Rupe were still my favorites from this author. But Nate just blew me away. There’s no wonder why readers all over the world try to claim him, but please give me at least a little piece of him too! *pretty please* *heart-eyes*
I absolutely loved this amazing book, not only for the romance but most of all for Nate’s touching story. Oh my heart!
To be honest, I can’t say that I liked Nate’s arrogance very much in the beginning, but like with all the other women he had me wrapped around his finger in no time. And when I read about his secret and the burden he carried with him, my heart ached for him so badly.
This book was definitely the best and my favorite in this series. There’s so much to love in this book with Nate’s big heart, Dex’s feistiness, the banter between these two, the hot sex scenes!, the hilarious moments that cracked me up so hard, and last but not least the entire lovely Brook family.
Nate was cocky, arrogant, and used to getting his way not only with women. What I loved most about him was how deeply he cared for his brothers, even though he would probably deny it. I loved his honesty and how straightforward he was. Nate had a different and much warmer side, which he sadly closed off altogether for a specific reason. This secret though was slowly dragging him down and destroying him. At some point during this story, I had an idea on what this secret could be, but it still got to me and had my heart aching so much when it was finally revealed. My heart broke so badly for him, it had me in tears.
Dex was one hell of a woman, a feisty little lady, a real spitfire. She may have been small in size but she didn’t let people step on her and made up for her size with her character and no-bullshit-attitude. When she got fired because of Nate you can imagine how she exploded. Lucky for her, he was hell bent on getting her job back and so intrigued by how she didn’t bend to his will and cower in front of him, that he had a hard time getting her out of his head.
Hottie hot in the parking lot. Haha! I loved the sexual tension between the characters and how even a kiss was such a huge turn on. But I loved even more that there was so much more between them than only sexual attraction.
I warmed up pretty quickly to Nate and I loved the banter between him and Dex. They gave it to each other good and I preferred this to her being all sappy from the first sight. Well, she was obviously weak in the knees around him but she still stood her ground and didn’t let him do whatever he wanted. She was a fierce lady and he had his work cut out for him. I loved that she didn’t back down from any situation and didn’t give in when they exploded on one another because it made their bond afterwards even stronger.
I think my most favorite part was their time in New York. I loved to see the family together no matter the heaviness that surrounded Nate.
With the last brother’s book being done now, it’s sad to say goodbye to the characters but hopefully we’ll see them again at some point. =P
I’ve been eagerly anticipating the final Brook brothers story and I loved it!
Oooh this certainly was a tantalising web of not just lies, but secrets, revelations, acceptance, emotion and a whole lot of sexy hotness between two wonderful characters. The seemingly cold and aloof but misundertood, broken Nate who despite their love for him, sits on the periphery of his family; and fiery, determined, big hearted Dex. I loved them both, but I think Dex has become my new favourite female character by this author, she is just awesome. They’re both holding secrets and pain close to their hearts, but together if they can just have faith that if their walls come crashing down, the other will be there to catch and hold them.
Wonderful book, full of heart and soul, humour, a very healthy dose of steamy hotness and a conclusion that absolutely wraps up this fantastic series (apart from Draven, we are getting more of him aren’t we? Pretty please? 😉 )
Highly recommended, excited to find out where Tracie Delaney will take us next!
