Targeted….unglued, unraveled and lost
Powerful start to the series, this book is a lot! You will have to concentrate, it is not light reading…but if you like super smart, feisty and slightly quirky women with many hidden talents, sexy, super hot special forces teams and a twisted puzzle to make your brain melt then this is the book for you.
Intriguing and suspenseful to dark and haunting this will put you through an emotional wringer but equally there are uplifting, lighthearted moments and I love the bond that Lexi forms with ‘her team’ especially Striker and Jack, as harrowing as the experience the three of them share is, Lynx is born and the eighth member of the team is cemented. I read this on Kindle Unlimited and I loved it!
This book is great! I love the writing and the wonderful characters. The story has everything: great suspense, action, humor, wit, romance, angst. It is an all around totally entertaining book.
Weakest Lynx by Fiona Quinn
Let’s start by saying that I did enjoy this book.
But… Boy howdy is it surreal. Let’s start with the fact that it’s clearly the second book of series – or even the first of a second trilogy, say. Except it isn’t – it’s the first book in a series.
It’s constantly referencing LOTS and LOTS of stuff that happened earlier, like we should know it from reading those earlier (non-existent) books.
Then there’s the Schrödinger’s husband. Both there and not there. He exists but conveniently isn’t there, or even in communication. A pure plot device.
Then, getting psychic support from someone(s) in a different hemisphere. One would have at least have thought a mention of differing time zones (e.g. if it’s daylight in DC, is it night there…) would have happened. It FELT very like they weren’t real people, either, just another plot device.
The poker playing neighbour who conveniently can provide everything Lexi needs restore her house for free.
The heroine who’s supposed to be a super kick-ass martial artist type – who mostly has to be rescued by the hunky gorgeous men protecting her. (Yeah, yeah, there’s background to explain that – but again, it feels like the author contrived the situation so that our competent girl doesn’t have to be.)
The community college courses she’s doing. While incommunicado in a safe house!?!?!?
I could go on.
I WISH I could believe that the surreality of this book was intended, not underdeveloped writing.
All that having been said, the writing (in terms of putting words and paragraphs together) was fine. Very few spelling or grammar mistakes. That counts for a lot in my book.
The book grabbed my attention and I read to the end. Exceptional characters and unusual plot. I look forward to more of this series.
This book was written with lots of twists and surprises. One of the things that I really liked was the humer which, for me, took it up to the next level. I liked it so much that I immediately downloaded the other books in the series and can’t wait for more.
At first glance Weakest Lynx would appear to be a paramilitary thriller but it is so much more. Lexi Sobado is an intriguing character that has lived a lifetime in a very short time. I loved her strength and determination. This book is non-stop action. The only thing I didn’t like is that I can’t pronounce Iniquus and it drove me to distraction. I’ve purchased the rest of the series (to date) and plan on binge reading.
