Someone once told me never leave the one you love for the one you like… Blackhart, owner of Blackhart Custom Motorcycles, is all about living life in the fast lane. Our relationship went from zero to one hundred in the blink of an eye. Only problem is, I have a secret. A secret so deep it’s pulling me in two different directions.
Now we’re 1,400 miles of memories and broken hearts. I just hope it’s not too late to put all the pieces back together again.

I . . . . Well . . . . What the fuck Brandi?!
So if you follow me anywhere you would have already seen I became a wee bit of a Brandi stalker lol What can I say, this book is . . . . I actually can’t find the words to describe what she has done with this debut novel of her! Huge congrats Brandi, it’s beyond incredible and deserves more than 5 stars.
Everyone knows I don’t do angst-filled, I don’t do cheating, and I don’t like cliffhangers in my books, my heart just can not handle that shit and I end up so angry with the characters (and most the time everyone else lol). This book has all that and then some. I laughed, cried, swooned, got beyond angry (with Brandi too, sorry boo!), and then got so sad I sobbed uncontrollably and needed the ice cream.
Seriously, the feels are so on point with this story that I took ugly cry to a whole new level. And do not start me with the ending! Nope, I totally book-drunk inboxed Brandi (Friends shouldn’t let other friends book-drunk inbox authors, just sayin’ Ang ) because I was so intoxicated with Roman and Leylah.
Leylah is unhappily married to Ryan.
He is never home and has all but emotionally shut down when it comes to their relationship. Ley tries everything in her power to reconnect with her husband, that is until she receives a message from the dating app her bestie installed on her phone.
*sigh* Roman Blackhart (aka my hubby)
They make each other feel alive, wanted, happy, I mean they are totally soulmates (evil glares at Brandi) and Ley throws caution, and her marriage, to the wind and dives heart-first into a relationship with Roman.
These two are perfect for each other, I mean hello, soulmates! But they also come with a lot of secrets, like a lot and those secrets are what pushes them apart.
This book is heartbreaking, and I don’t just mean you will get a little upset with some things, I mean it plays havoc on your nerves (and your nails), makes your head and heart pound and leaves you so emotionally crippled throughout the entire story.
The ending . . . I totally did not see that coming but am more than ready for the next installment to Roman and Ley.
Omg, so between this review and making the mistake of filling my bestie in on this story the next day because she totally won’t deal with this and I have totally started tearing up again!
Smh, I am off to eat all the chocolate while I try to get over this hangover and wait for Miss Brandi to give me more of my newest hubby!
Be sure you grab some comfort food, tons of tissues and a snuggle buddy before you dive into this baby!
* ARC PROVIDED BY THE AUTHOR FOR AN HONEST REVIEW *
I heard a lot of good things about this book and I was really excited to read it. I love that there was cheating. I seem to be drawn to that plotline. I loved Roman. I don’t think he was a bad guy deep down. I like all the characters for the most part. The plot had me hooked but sadly it felt very fast. I think I would have loved the story rather then just like it if it was more drawn out. That’s not meaning that it was a bad book because it was good, just could have been a little better to me. I plan to read the next book though. 4 stars #2OCCJD
5 heartfelt stars!! Seriously this book is going straight to my favorites list. Probably of all time!! And guess what?!?! This is a debut novel…. shit doesn’t get any better then that.
This is a stand alone I do believe. But I really think the author could continue on with this book.
What happens when you realize that your love isn’t enough to keep your marriage going?!?! Leylah loves her husband and is still extremely attracted to him but life got in the way and he began to work too much and not give her any attention. So what happens when all you want is time? You find some… and his name is Roman. Roman light a fire within Leylah and she realized she deserved more. But now all her secrets and the distance between them has things up in the air….
This book destroyed me!! I am so broken but happy. I don’t even know how to put it. The ending… oh I need more. Let me say that this triangle Leylah finds herself in is one of my damn fantasies. I mean two extremely sexy men !!
Ryan he had me irritated and suspicious of him from the first few chapters but things changed. Roman oh I love Roman!! But my feelings toward him changed slightly as well. I think I might be a little messed up over this book for awhile. This book had me up and down all through it. The ending was beautiful and relatable. I think this touched on a lot of things some married women go through and that’s what stuck its hooks in me from the beginning. This is how many women’s lives play out. I was Leylah in some instances and you realize how much your actions can change your future. And yes I have read books that have tried to play this off but they either completely bored me or they made you think that one person was just a selfish asshole who can’t keep their pants on. This book did neither. It was hot, sexy, heart breaking, loving, freeing and everything you want in a romance. It was perfect!
This book was not predictable in any way. The words flew off the page at me and though I had to work I picked it back up every chance I could. This is one of my top ten favorite books of all time!! I can not wait for her next book, this up and coming author is one I know I will stalk for life!!
**I received this book as an ARC and in return gave my honest review**
I’m not sure how to explain how I feel about this one. I’m not a huge fan of cheating storylines, especially when it’s the heroine. I completely understand how she felt alone but the moment her friend asked her to download the app I was wishing I could stop reading the book.
I wrote this review based on an advance reading copy that the publisher sent me.
It’s a very emotional story of Love gone wrong..Twice!!
Life has a twisted sense of humor. It knocks Leylah down once when she’s in an unhappy and neglected marriage with Ryan
Then just for shits & giggles, gives her a glimpse of what her life could be, as noticed and adored, and THEN knocks her down again!!
I mean fool me once Life!!
The story has heavy cheating, so read at your own risk
I loved the premise and the circumstances of the story.a completely alone wife, forever waiting for her husband to be home, notice her, love her…she does stray to find a bit of admiration by a man who sees her and compliments her
“I’m pissed off and hurt. I’ve forgotten how good it feels to be noticed by a man.”
So I totally got why she cheats and I have no qualms about admitting I liked that part
Then comes a shocker. She’s happy for a nanosecond before being abandoned again…and in a worse fate than she was before!!
She has got to be really unlucky in love I must say.
I loved the second time of her cheating yet again, I totally got it.
I loved the story, it’s unfortunate twists and turns. The characters were pretty black and Grey, no body is pure white innocent. all are tainted and flawed like an average human being
Ryan was negligent, Leylah was bitter and Roman was tied up in his life’s quest of revenge
“Love came at the wrong time in Life for them”
I had a bit of an issue with the writing style though.it was choppy and didn’t flow too well, it lacked emotions and sentiments which were described in a cut-and-dry method. But I guess this being her debut book, she will definitely improve with time and experience
It ends on a kind of cliff, but a soft one.
The story ain’t over yet babe..Ride on!!!
3.5 stars for life’s ironies
So apparently I have been living under a rock for some time… This book was tragically amazing and I am confused that I haven’t heard of this author or her books before. I do struggle to get myself out of a comfort zone. I am always apprehensive about reading a new author,… But lately, I have pushed myself to try new authors, and branch out from my go-to’s. I told myself at the start of the year I would and I have, and I’ll tell you now, it was the best decision I made. This book was amazing, and it was unique… In every sense of the word. There were things in the book that not everyone will agree on, which I can understand but it didn’t change the way I felt about this book, the authors writing style and the amazing words that grabbed hold of my heartstrings and tugged me along for what is an emotional, intense and all-consuming romance. I went in open-minded, not knowing what to expect and I am glad I did
it’s a love triangle, so I will say this now… If cheating is a hard limit for you, I don’t think this book is for you either.. In saying that, it’s not exactly something I enjoy reading about. I mean cheating sucks on any level, but this story had me intrigued on how this triangle was going to turn out. The authors’ words and her way of weaving them together for each character and each scene had me hooked and I managed to devour this beauty in less than 24 hours. These characters are each one of a kind and I enjoyed seeing all sides but it had me torn… So damn torn… and had me on the edge of my seat. The heroine got herself tangled up in a web of lies and trouble… It was hard not to want to slap her, it was hard to see how desperate she was for the male attention, but it didn’t turn me off. It just intrigued me more and got me flipping pages for answers on what was going to happen next with these characters.
Again, if cheating is a hard limit, I think this book will be too, but I will say consider giving it a chance, I am sure as hell I did.
4 1/2 stars!
Fantastic book that kinda ripped my heart out but in the best way. A must read!
When you start to write a review, Amazon prompts the reviewer by asking what you liked and disliked about the book. So I will use those questions for this review …
What did I like: The story was well thought out. You can tell the author knew where the story was going from the very beginning (even if I did not). The characters are all super complex. I actually strongly disliked each one at certain times and at other times I liked them the best (I never didn’t like Cloud the cat or Maddylin). I am gobsmacked that this is the author’s first published book. Amazing talent. Not overly detailed or drawn out and certainly not all rainbows and sunshine.
What do I dislike? Well I did not agree with several of the decisions that each character makes. (See above about not liking them at different points). I also disliked that the next book is not ready yet. Seriously?!?! I’m an instant gratification type of gal and want the next story now.
Seriously, even though I disagreed with some of it – I would absolutely recommend this book.
Brandi Aga’s We Were Memories touches on some seriously tough subjects. A relatable story that focuses on something that needs more attention, the importance of companionship and intimacy.
Emergency room nurse Leylah is living a very unhappy life. She had been married for almost a decade to Ryan. Ryan is ten years older and extremely career driven and lately it’s been taking a toll on their marriage. Whenever Leylah tries to have a conversation in hopes of resolving the issue, he gets upset and defensive. When her friend puts a dating app on her phone and she gets a response, she knows she should ignore it. But she’s desperate for the companionship she hasn’t been getting from her husband. She starts up a friendship via text messages, but what happens when they meet?
“I’ve always been a good girl but love can make you do bad things.”
Roman is the tough guy. Sexy with tattoos and the owner of a custom motorcycle garage. He has secrets in his past but doesn’t everybody. He manages to find what could be considered his soul mate in Leylah. And in return he makes her feel wanted again. When the past comes back to haunt him, what will she do? Who will she turn to?
” Never leave the one you love for the one you like. ”
I feel that I need to say this before anything, yes there is cheating. If that bothers you do NOT read this book.
Ok, now that is out of the way. I absolutely loved the subject of this book. Being married I could relate to certain aspects of Leylah’s marriage. Without any type of intimacy or companionship you don’t have a healthy relationship, and that is exactly what she was faced with. She may have gone about things wrong or differently than how people think she should’ve, but I understood that she felt stuck. She was so unsure what to do to bring her life back to what she wanted. I believe that she truly loved both Roman and Ryan but how does someone choose who they love more.
Thank you, Brandi, for writing a book that explores the harmfulness of a loveless, or unprioritized marriage. I know a lot of people will not like this because of Leylah and her actions, but I found them to be real, and exactly how I have witnessed things play out before. I hope that anyone who reads this takes away the knowledge that you do not need to stay where you are unhappy or unwanted. I could say so much on this subject, but I don’t want to distract from the book. Read it. It will break your heart but it will also give you hope. FOUR stars.
Wow what a debut! This book had me on such an emotional roller coaster I didn’t know how I felt abou the characters from one time to the next. They all had their flaws and that does make it more believable to me. I didn’t know who I wanted her to end up with and by the time I got to the end of this book I was ready to open a bottle of alchol and try to recover. I did NOT see the end going the way it did and I wasn left completely shocked and had to pick my jaw up off the floor. Not only that but I was still left wondering if I was her what would I have done. Can’t we just have them both???
This was a bit of a tease on whether there was going to be a next book with these characters and I really am kind of hoping there is. At least to see where they are later and to get the brother’s story.
Anyway congratulations on your debut and with writing like this you have a bright future ahead of you. I can’t wait to see what you come up with next.
