From International Bestseller Michelle Heard comes the final book in the Southern Heroes Series.I don’t play games. If I see something I want, I go for it.After my late wife passed away, I haven’t been attracted to another woman. That’s until I come face to face with Chloe Jordaan with her sassy mouth and larger than life personality. She’s the complete opposite of me.I’m not afraid to commit, … complete opposite of me.
I’m not afraid to commit, where Chloe’s the epitome of ‘Bad Girl.’ I’m rational and serious, where Chloe’s carefree and fun.
She keeps reminding me we’re only friends with benefits, but I can’t stop myself from wanting to make her mine.
She’s everything I shouldn’t want but turns out to be exactly what I need.
Will the South African Bad Girl ever fall for the American Alpha Hero?

Oh my lord this book was so amazing. Michelle has outdone herself this story will have you catching all the feels and it’s the final one in this awesome series.
I absolutely loved Zac and Chloe these 2 are like opposite attracts that’s probably the reason I loved them more.
This is about Zac who had suffered a lost love and had decided to never love again well that ended as soon as Chloe blew into town she is everything he’s not and he is suddenly questioning his feeling’s toward her and himself.
“If I did something right in my life, it was giving him my heart.”
This is a must read for sure and if you’ve been reading about the boy’s in the series you need to grab it if you haven’t then definitely start with the 1st book and fall in love with each and everyone of them and their ladies.
This is just my opinion and my review.
4*
Chloe has finally decided to leave Africa and visit her best friend Emma her sunshine.
She’s witnessed first hand the devastation love and betrayal can leave.
Zac was lucky when he met his first love laurie but the job took her from him.
Meeting Chloe has him in knots that neither of them can understand.
Another nice addition to the series.
Since losing Laurie, Zac hasn’t dated, he hasn’t felt any attraction to anyone, with the anniversary of Laurie’s death, Aiden lets him know it’s time to move on. Knowing both Aiden and Emma are busy he offered to pick up their friend Chloe from the airport.
With South Africa not feeling like home Chloe decided to pack up and visit Emma in America, Chole’s exhausted from her flight and looks at the photo Emma sent her. Finding him she’s never been affected by a man like this before and wonders if with some sleep Zac will look like every other guy, knowing she’s going to be in trouble with his southern hotness, but remembers men can’t be trusted.
Seeing Chloe, he knew she was beautiful, but now he realises she’s breathtaking, he sees her as a woman not Emma’s friend. Zac makes it clear he won’t get involved with her best friend and she may be leaving, Emma tells him she won’t if she has a reason to stay, Zac makes it clear he won’t be that reason.
Chloe knows Emma wants her to stay, but Chloe’s not sure, she wants to be alone rather than be abandoned again. Emma reminds her that she used to feel the same, now she’s surrounded by love and she can have that too if she stays.
Zac tells himself that he doesn’t want to go a loss like Laurie again and tells himself he’s not falling for the spell she’s weaving around him.
Zac doesn’t want to feel the lose he went through ever again, Chloe doesn’t want to risk being abandoned like her mother, both of them broken and lost can they mend each other together, to have what they are both fighting so hard not to have.
Omgosh I love it. This was an awesome series. Every book was so good. The story was interested. Intense and emotional. I really liked how they were opposites but pretty much completed each other. Great read and super happy ending!
Once again great book by Ms. Heard. What a way to end a series. Yes it is part of a series. No you don’t have to read them all, However I do recommend you starting at the beginning because all the other characters are in this and WWL references to the other books. We Were Lost is just that Zac and Chloe have both had devestation in their past and don’t know how to get past that. Zac losing his wife and Chloe losing her mom do to her dads unfaithfulness. With each other they see that their connection is to strong and so different from that of the past that maybe just maybe it is worth a chance at getting lost in each other.
“I want to be your easiest hello and your hardest goodbye,” I translate the message for her.”
Zac saw his dreams collapse with the death of his wife. Having found his soul mate in Laurie, he did not expect everything to disappear by an act of violence. The pain and mourning he faces even after a few years is a constant reminder that makes him company.
Chloe witnessed the marriage of her parents implode right before her eyes. And with the estrangement of her father and the death of her mother, the only certainty she has is that love does not exist, it is only a dangerous illusion.
But with her move from South Africa to America to spend time with Emma, she could not expect that the handsome but reserved cop she meets, despite appearing to reprove all her behavior, intrigue and attract her more than she wants to admit.
And Zac, despite saying that he is not interested, finds himself thinking every time in the girl full of life and witty, so different from his deceased wife.
Approaching second chances, the book shows how far barriers imposed by ourselves can undermine our future, our path to happiness. Zac will find that opening up and falling in love again does not mean betraying and leaving Lauren behind. Just as Chloe discovers for the first time in life, that nobody lives alone, the life accompanied is much easier and pleasurable.
We see the closure of the Pastor Doug’s plot, finally the bad guys are caught. A little tension takes place in the final part, putting our couple in a spiral of emotions, causing them to reevaluate various issues and fight for what matters.
We were lost ends up in a good way this series. Old characters make an appearance, just as we have the conclusion of several questions. Zac deserved a fresh start. And find in Chloe someone to move forward with.

Wow what a sad ending to this amazing story. Zac will have you wanting to love up on this amazing man that will have you seeing the love flow from the words from this book series. I cant decide if i like this one the most. All i know is that each story is a wonderful piece and gives you the story of their lives.
The fifth and last book in this series and it was really good. Loved Zach and Chloes story a lot. After he lost his wife he honestly didnt think hed ever feel that way about another woman again. Just really enjoyed this one.
I’m so sad to see this series end!! This group of characters will stay with me and always hold a special place in my heart. I’ve been dying for Zac’s story because the way he ties in to the group, his past intrigued me and I always wondered if he would be able to find love again. Second chances, hopeful, but not without their challenges, I couldn’t be happier about the way it turned out. Sweetly hot, obstacles abound, action galore, it checked all the boxes and made for an addictive read!! I thank the Author for providing a copy to review!!

I can’t believe this series is actually over, and to end it in Zac’s Book…*Sigh* This has been a series that I have followed for a while and I love the emotion that is poured into the pages; whether it be funny, sad, angsty, whatever, the emotion is there for you to feel.
I would recommend reading all of the books in order but it is absolutely not necessary. You will run into characters from previous books but each is a complete standalone.
I really loved seeing all the previous characters and confirming that all of them are leading the best lives possible!
Now for Zac and Chloe; these two have dealt with more loss than most and they each have their own way of working through it. I loved how their relationship ended up ended, but I was slightly disappointed because it seem to be rushed when it finally happened. This being said, I think they compliment each and I really hoped it would turn out the way it did.
I definitely recommend this book to others, actually I recommend the whole series! Get started today!
What a great ending to an amazing series. Michelle Heard did a fantastic job and Chloe and Zac’s story. Chloe has moved to the US from South Africa after life has taken a rough turn, Zac is also healing from a terrible, unexpected loss as well. Will these 2 find their way to one another and find love or will their pasts get in the way of a happily ever after. I highly recommend this book and the entire Southern
OMG I friggin loved Zac and Chloe <3 Amazing job @Michelle Heard!! have loved this entire series from the very beginning... BUT I think this is probably my FAVORATE!! My heart just broke for both Zac and Chloe.. This book has it all.. The heartbreak and tears, the laughter and joy, the back and forth banter between Zac and Chloe, the suspense.. I could not put this book down..
I loved how Zac was trying to learn Chloe's native language.. I think my favorite quote was..
"ek wil jou maklikste hallo wees en jou moeilikste totsiens"
“I want to be your easiest hello and your hardest goodbye” <-- I mean seriously... swoon!!! Thank you x a million for all these southern heros... I have loved each and every one of them
We Were Lost is the fifth and final book of this series, and can be read as a stand-alone. I really enjoyed it. It was a fun read. I loved the build up of the relationship between Zac and Chloe after what happened when they met.
Wow! What a way to end this incredible series. I was so glad when there was a story about Zac and he is one of my favorite characters. Zac lost the love of his life years prior, and when Chloe, Emma’s friend, comes to town, he is unsure of his feelings. Chloe doesn’t believe in any type of relationship except for a one night type, until she meets Zac. Can these two people with sad and tragic pasts make a go of a relationship?? They definitely mesh well together and do have sizzling chemistry, but is that enough? As this story ties up the series, many questions are answered. I truly loved this story and this fantastic series and am sad to see it end, but the author ended it perfectly. This is a must read series!!!
WE WERE LOST is the 5th and last book in the SOUTHERN HEROES SERIES. Each book can be read as a standalone, but the characters are so wonderful, I recommend reading them all. WE WERE LOST is Zac Hutches and Chloe Jordaan’s story. I really think that this is my favorite book out of the five. What a way to end the series!!
Zac Hutches is a lost soul since the death of his wife four years ago. Not only was Laurie the perfect wife, but he felt he struck gold when he got the Holden clan for his in-laws. He had met her in the precinct where they all worked in law enforcement. Zac never believed in love at first sight until he laid eyes on Laurie Holden. They eloped three weeks after meeting each other, and not a day went by that he had not been thankful for that miracle. When Laurie was shot, and he lost her, he felt she took half his heart with her. He hadn’t dated another woman since he lost his wife. Not because it would feel like he was betraying her memory, but because he hadn’t felt any kind of attraction toward anyone else. Then he was sent on an errand, by his sister-in-law Emma, to pick up her best-friend from the airport.
When Zac first meets Chloe at the airport, he wasn’t prepared for the force-of-nature that she was. And she wasn’t prepared for how attracted she would be to this tall and handsome, blue-eyed stranger. Without even thinking she stepped forward and threw her arms around his neck and hugged him tightly. They were complete opposites. She is a South African bad girl and he is the all American hero. She is as lost and broken as he. There is no easy path if they ever want a Happily-Ever-After.
Wow this was quite the ending to this amazing series. Hooks you right off the bat and has you gripped to the end. I loved every book in this series but this one was my absolutely favorite. Zac is a police officer and is working on a life changing case . One day he says goodbye to his wife and his life will never be the same again. Her deals with things the best way he knows how. Chloe is best friends with Emma Zac’s sister in law. She comes to America to be closer to Emma. She ends up moving in with Zac and once again things for him change. But will the past repeat itself? I loved Chloe and Zac. I loved the banter between these two. It was cute lovable and downright funny. This was a very well written downright enjoyable gripping book. Michelle blew me away with this whole series. A must read book and series.
This was the most perfect ending of the series that I absolutely love with all my heart and I love all these men but Zac just wow, we finally get to see behind the mask and let me tell you it was so worth waiting for the pain will break you but it becomes all better because Chloe is the biggest breathe of fresh air to hit his life and I loved her character they were so different but alike at the same time and so full of emotion and love to give. Im sad to say goodbye but they will not be forgotton, you just cant forget them.
We Were Lost was the amazing ending to the Southern Heroes series. Zac has held a soft spot in my heart from the start of this series after seeing glimpses of his brokenness throughout each book. I knew his story would be emotional, heartbreaking and captivating and We Were Lost was just what I expected.
Chloe was a bright whirlwind that took Zac by surprise. Chloe’s feistiness had me laughing out loud as she kept Zac on his toes. I loved the sparks that caught between these two as I watched them slowly circle one another. I love a great emotional and angsty read and these two tugged at my heartstrings and left me with a smile on my face.
I enjoyed catching up with all the Southern Heroes and their partners and the epilogue had me grinning all over the place. Though I’m a bit sad to say goodbye We Were Heroes was the perfect emotionally captivating conclusion to this series.
This story brings an end to an amazing and beautiful series. Zack and Chloe both lost and broken not looking for nothing become friends and than when they both start to feel more will they act on it or let the past rule what they want? Amazingly beautiful read with twist and turns and so many emotions you won’t be able to stop reading. With an Epic ending. This book will stick with you. Can’t wait to see what she comes out with next
WE WERE LOST by Michelle Heard is book 5 in the Southern Heroes Series. This is the story of Zac and Chloe. I haven’t yet read the previous books, so for me this was a standalone book.
Chloe thoughts she had a great life but then her mom caught her dad cheating which Chloe feels was the reason of why her mother died. Zac was married but his wife ended up dying which left him not really interested in other women or relationship. But then Zac and Chloe start taking things further which leads Zac to want more but Chloe still has issue with her dads cheating.
I really enjoyed their story and will be looking for additional books by this author.
