A NEW YORK TIMES, USA TODAY & WALL STREET JOURNAL BESTSELLER!From #1 New York Times Bestseller Vi Keeland, comes a new, sexy standalone novel.Bennett Fox walked into my life on one hell of a crappy Monday morning.I was late for the first day at my new job–a job I’d now have to compete for even though I’d already worked eight years to earn it, because of an unexpected merger. While I lugged my … years to earn it, because of an unexpected merger.
While I lugged my belongings up to my new office, a meter maid wrote me a parking summons.
She’d ticketed a long line of cars–except for the Audi parked in front of me, which happened to be the same make and model as mine.
Annoyed, I decided to regift my ticket to the car that had evaded a fine. Chances were, the owner would pay it and be none the wiser.
Except, I accidentally broke the windshield wiper while slipping the ticket onto the car’s window.
Seriously, my day couldn’t get any worse.
Things started to perk up when I ran into a gorgeous man in the elevator. We had one of those brief moments that only happened in movies.
You know the deal…your body lights up, fireworks go off, and the air around you crackles with electricity.
His heated stare left me flushed when I stepped off the elevator.
Maybe things here wouldn’t be so bad after all.
Or so I thought.
Until I walked into my new boss’s office and met my competition.
The gorgeous man from the elevator was now my nemesis. His heated stare wasn’t because of any mutual attraction. It was because he’d seen me vandalize his car. And now he couldn’t wait to annihilate his rival.
There’s a fine line between love and hate–and we shouldn’t cross it.
We shouldn’t–but straddling that line could be so much fun.

We Shouldn’t was a wonderful feel good, angsty love story. With a sweet combination of office romance, second chances and some friendly “frenemy” competition the story of Bennet Fox and Annalise O’Neil was everything I’d expect from a Vi Keeland novel.
This author never fails to draw me in with her wonderful characters and realistic story lines. I swoon, I fall in love, and I laugh along which makes the story so much more enjoyable. The emotions are so easily conveyed to the reader in her words making it hard to put down or reach the end (because I don’t want it to end).
Another Vi Keeland must read!!
One thing you absolutely SHOULD do? Read this book.
Read it for Bennett, who has a heart much bigger than he realizes. He has convinced himself that he is unworthy of love, undeserving even. And yet, despite his occasional misfires, he shows you over and over again that he has a big, beating, thriving heart that yearns to love and be loved.
Read it for Annalise, who proves herself willing to assume the best in people, even when doing so works against her. She operates from a position of fairness … most of the time, anyway. Something about Bennett gets under her skin every now and then, and it is DELIGHTFUL.
Read it for the witty interplay between these two. Vi Keeland will have you laughing one minute and your eyes flooding the next.
Read it for the sexy times, which are scorching hot. Do you expect anything less from Vi Keeland?
Read it because this is one of those books that feels fun and flirty and frisky.
Look at this blurb! –> “After our companies merged, Bennett Fox and I fought for one job. The two of us argued all day. The last thing we needed was to wind up in bed…”
This book was an office romance, enemies-to-lovers, and a fantastic slow burn all in one book. I loved it! It worked well, was well-written, and the fighting/flirting banter was so much fun!
Bennett and Annalise have the same job position within 2 newly merged companies. They are basically put into a competition with one another to see who gets to stay where they currently are (San Francisco) and the other will be made to move to the Texas division.
Bennett was cocky and a bit of a douche at times, but not a heartless monster. Annalise doesn’t exactly get off on the best footing at first with Bennett, but she’s a hard worker and has no problem telling how she feels.
I really liked Bennett’s backstory as it really explained a lot about how he worked. I also like how it was slowly revealed, so it was hard to put the book down.
Overall a great read with great characters!
I was introduced to Vi Keeland’s writing through he co-writing with Penelope Ward. Having only read a couple of her solo books, I’m always anxious when I start reading them. Will they be similar to the last, will I enjoy it as much as I did the last – thoughts like this always go through my head as I start.
I can say, I was very happy and surprised with this one.
What starts as an insta-love, has a really slow burn. Both characters have a strong attraction to the other, but because they are working for the same company, even competing for the same job, they deny their feelings, and you only get a glimpse here and there that there may be more. But, let’s face it: we know there will be more. And what started as a should we/ shouldn’t we, moves to a romance with an expiration, and quite a few moments of “But you belong together, so suck it up and just be together” moments.
Definitely a great story, and a fun, sometimes very funny, romp between the leads.
So let me start by saying Vi’s books always make me want to Google something in the book because they are so realistically written. I then remember it’s a book and I have to wait for the story to unfold. This book had the same sentiment. Early on you knew there was pieces to the story you would later find out but I wanted to know now.
Bennett comes off as a jerk but behind the persona he has a big heart. He is great with Lucas and you know their is genuine love there. He is so undercoverly considerate of Annalise and I found that so cute.
Annalise is so quirky. She has things about her that is different but they make her unique and make you love her. I loved how all her quirks Bennett took the challenge and took front row seats to witness them. I loved her heart. She was considerate and caring.
I love a kid added to a story! Lucas and Bennett’s relationship is cute. I love how it’s introduced. You know Lucas is the godson and you know Bennett and Lucas’s mom was close but it leaves you wondering what happens.
This story was beautiful. I loved the way it unfolded, and the emotions it bought on. Beautifully written. I love Vi’s books and this is another great one!
Loving All Your Imperfections
They were each other’s competition, until competing was the one thing that no longer mattered. An enemies-to-lovers romance that will steal your heart!
A company merger brought them together and the sparks fly!!!! They are competing for the same position. One of them will stay and the other will have to relocate to Texas.
Annalise was gorgeous, driven, successful and heartbroken. Fresh off a break up with her boyfriend of eight years, she’s a little out of sorts and a bit naive about men. Bennett’s about to school her in more ways than one.
Bennett is totally hot, the kind of guy you sleep with for awhile but has no plans on forever. He’s all alpha and feels an immediate need to both protect and stake his claim on Annalise. However, there is so much more to Bennett than what you see at first glance.
Maybe they can compete for the job and be more? They know what they have has an expiration date, but sometimes the consequences don’t matter.
A super sexy read with a fantastic build up! They were enemies who became friends and then a whole lot more than either expected. You will fall in love with Bennett and all his imperfections!
Holy. Buckets. Y’all, Vi Keeland may have just outdone herself. No, seriously. I am tempted to say that this is my favorite Vi Keeland book to date, but am afraid that would be a kneejerk statement based on the way my heart is fluttering and my pulse is pounding and my feels are all over the place in the best way. Oh, and also? My smile. SO BIG right now. Which is basically the mark of any truly great book, no?
So, let’s just go with it: We Shouldn’t is my favorite Vi Keeland book to date.
And, that’s saying something because enemies-to-lovers is not always my favorite trope, but this one was just brilliantly executed. I’m not sure that Bennett and Annalise were ever completely enemies. The lines were always a little blurry, even from their very first meeting.
Enemies? Sure. Sometimes.
Lovers? Definitely. Sometimes.
Chemistry? 100%. Fire. Always.
Whether they were hating each other or loving each other, the sparks flying between Bennett and Annalise were no joke, and it was impossible not to get caught up in their connection.
On top of that, they were so adorably playful and fun together. Bennett was no angel, and he came off as a complete jerk sometimes, but Annalise was no wilting violet and she could give as good as she took. I adored her sass, but I adored her big, beautiful, open heart even more. As playful and sizzling as it could be, there was also a fair bit of emotion, and some minor twists I didn’t see coming. I wasn’t always sure how their story was going to play out, and in the end it didn’t play out the way I would have imagined it. But I loved it. I loved it so much. My heart was so full and happy and fairly bursting with feelings over this book.
In all? We Shouldn’t was just pure pleasure. It was utterly addictive. It was romantic and swoony, and sexy as all get-out. It made my heart ache and it made my heart race and it made my heart do that giddy, fluttery, bubbly thing that feels just like falling in love. It was a practically perfect reading experience and I cannot recommend it highly enough!
4.5
If you are looking for a book that will make you snort, hope that the douchebag comes good and plenty of emotion through out, look no further than is one. Within the first chapter I knew I was going to lose some sleep because I didn’t want to put it down. And I’m happy to feel sluggish today and still have a big smile on my face.
Bennett Fox is a jerk. He knows it, his assistant knows it and Annalise O’Neill is about to find out too. With the merger of their two companies, each will now battle it out to keep their job, and the other will be shipped off to Texas. But Bennett didn’t see Annalise coming, at all. She is the type of woman that brings out the best in all people, especially the Beast, according to Madison’s theory. Lucky for him, Annalise understands you don’t fall in love with a perfect person, but you love them despite their imperfections.
This novel had me feeling mostly happy and very touched by Bennett’s background. There is plenty of banter between these two and they find the ideal balance of work and play. The epilogue was fitting, and it just goes to show you that Bennett was a big softie at heart.
I absolutely loved We Shouldn’t and once again Vi Keeland nailed it!! This cheeky enemies to lovers, romantic comedy will have you laughing out loud and begging for more of this entertaining story. Bennett and Annalise’s story is oh so addictive, charming, sweet and sexy. They were an absolute delight and had an undeniable chemistry and connection. Vi Keeland never fails to deliver a unique and engaging plot and We Shouldn’t is all of those things and more. It’s a definite must read.
I loved Bennett Fox and Annalise O’Neal, or as I love to hear Bennett call her, his Texas! This is definitely an enemies to lovers romance that you do not want to miss! The opening scene is one that will have you laughing, from the windshield wiper to the passing off of the parking ticket! Vi Keeland has hit another home run with this one! Get ready because Bennett will make you swoon! 5 stars
4.5 stars! I really enjoyed this book, it’s an office romance with a hint of the enemies to lovers vibe, there was more to the story than I expected and I couldn’t put it down.
It has some drama, competition, humour and let’s not forget the scorching hot chemistry. I was not at all disappointed with this read!
His eyes land on her as she’s in an awkward position. She’s beautiful, but so was his new car.
She spots him in the elevator of her new work building, and feels their connection.
A merger… two companies coming together to offer a unique service. Or is it two companies conjoin and jobs are lost.
Him competing with her and vise versa for the position they both already had in the location they love.
Questions that need answering, jobs that need saving, what will happen..?
Oh my gosh I absolutely loved this!! I giggled away at their actions and reactions
“You did get your head stuck to the windshield of my car.”
I challenge you not to laugh at this!! you can imagine this scene and that’s what makes it all the more hilarious.
Bennett completely stole the show for me with his crazy antics, cheeky comments and possisveness.
He has a wonderful sence of humour, yet he’s kind and compassionate too. His heart is big as is his head but that’s ok can’t be completely perfect!
He’s my new book boyfriend ladies.. mine.. M.I.N.E!
Annalise isnt a meak, mild dormouse. She gives as good as she gets and womt go down without a fight.
She’s loyal, fair yet firey and passionate. Perfect in a leading lady of any kind.
Together they make for an explosive couple!
She’s everything he isn’t, and his weakness is her strength and vise versa. They compliment each other and that’s why they work so well.
Together they could take on the world!
Vi Keeland has simply done it again!
She has written a book you are going to need in your life, are going to fall in love with and that is guaranteed to put a smile on your face and warm fuzzy feelings in your heart.
Five stars all the way from me!
4.5 Stars for the new stand-alone We Shouldn’t from Vi Keeland.
A sweet and steamy romance that will captivate you and take over so please make sure you have time to finish what you start because you won’t want to put this book down.
Annalise and Bennett share a very special connection they work together and they spend most of the time ribbing and snarking at each other but the banter they share will have you giggling and smiling like a Cheshire Cat. Annalise and Bennett’s companies are merging and that means only one postion so the man in charge decides a competition is needed to see who can win the most accounts when they are both pitching for the same account……
Characters with an instant attraction and sizzling chemistry as well as just the right mix of drama and passion, I loved the characters I loved the banter and I loved the storyline all in all a great read.
Once again this very talented author give us a story that is romantic, entertaining and witty.
We Shouldn’t is a standalone romance. I love reading Vi Keeland’s books. Her books are a balance of great story, funny and emotional!
This is Annalise O’Neil & Bennett Fox’s story. They are going to have to fight to win to stay in San Francisco or who is going to Texas.
I love that Annalise took the ticket off her car and put it on Bennett’s and then getting caught by the very person that owns the car!
I will never look at Cosmo, Good Housekeeping, Woman’s Day or Better Homes & Garden the same again.
I love Bennett and I wasn’t expecting to, maybe he “isn’t such a jerk after-all”.
There is a big ole HEA at the end! I love We Shouldn’t!
4.5 Beast Syndrome stars
I should know by now that nothing’s what as it seems when it comes Vi Keeland. That blurb just barely scratched the surface of what this book was really packing. And just like the complicated mystery that is Bennett Fox, We Shouldn’t had layers upon layers you won’t be able to help but crave to peel and get to bottom of.
“That’s the thing about love. We don’t fall in love with the perfect person; we fall in love despite a person’s imperfections.”
It all started with a big merger of the ad agencies Bennett and Annalise were working at. Sitting on the same position as the creative director of their respective companies, they now had to compete with each other to see who would be able to keep the spot. Otherwise, whoever lost the battle of presenting the best ad campaigns would end up needing to move to a different location. Of course, neither of them wanted that, and they were more than up for the challenge. Thus began a war full of teasing, bickering and one-upping each other in every way possible.
“God, you’re such an ass.”
“An ass that you have a shitload of chemistry with, like it or not. So whadda you say? By day we fight like enemies, by night we fuck like warriors?”
I loved the way these two fought and bantered back and forth. It didn’t just send the tension already simmering between them soaring through the roof, but it also started to bond them in a way that was so unique to them. The more they spent time together, the more they saw a different side of the other. And I was completely with Annalise on this journey—I felt myself slip into her shoes, and want nothing more than to crack Bennett Fox wide open and figure him out.
“I’d spent half of my life building a million obstacles to put in the way of love. Yet when I met Annalise, all the hurdles did was show me how much she was worth jumping over every one of them.”
Bennett was the biggest enigma of all—he ran from ice cold to boiling hot in approximately zero point six two seconds. He’d make you feel frustrated as hell with him with the constant arrogant and infuriating jabs he threw, but what truly lied underneath all of that was actually a vulnerable guy carrying pain and guilt like the weight of the world on his shoulders. It took time to soften him up, but Annalise O’Neil was like a magic balm to this guy’s heart and soul. With her wits, sass and humor, she wiggled her way under his skin before he even knew what was happening.
“You’re everything, Annalise. I’ve met two types of women in my life: every woman out there. And you.”
We Shouldn’t is definitely a solid and compelling office, enemies to lovers romance. Bennett’s hard and cocky exterior that you want to pry open right off the bat, coupled with Annalise’s funny quips and quirks, will make you want to devour and turn the pages of this book like there’s no tomorrow. If you loved Vi Keeland’s Bossman or Egomaniac, you’ll surely enjoy this one.
We Shouldn’t was a great read. This was a heartwarming, sweet and addictive story. I loved Bennett and Annalise. I loved the banter, chemistry, connection and sexiness! Bennett and Annalise were perfect together. Loved loved them! Definitely recommend this book!

Can two people fitting for the same job find their HEA??
Read We Shouldn’t by Vi Keeland to find out. This was an entertaining forbidden office romance novel.
As always, All I really need to say is this book is written by Vi Keeland and that should be enough to know this will be an outstanding story!! This is a book you will definitely want to add to the top of your TBR list!!
Vi gave us another great love story. It had the perfect mix of humor, steam and drama. I will be honest and say it did take me a little while to warm up to both Bennett and Annalise. When I started to warm up to one of the characters, they would do something that I wanted to smack them for!! But they BOTH won me over in the end. I couldn’t help but root for them to get a HEA!!!
The more books I read by Vi Keeland, the more I fall in love with her writing. Her stories just keep getting better and better. This book was so good, all I can really say is that this is a MUST READ!!!
We Shouldn’t is Vi’s newest standalone novel and it is told in Dual POV. I think this is the perfect book to start your Vi Keeland journey if you haven’t read anything by her yet. This is a forbidden office romance. We follow Bennett and Annalise’s journey in this book. Bennett and Annalise’s companies have just merge together and now they need to fight for their position in the new company. So to say things are tense, that’s putting it mildly. I will say I thought the way these two meet was comical. I also have to say the banter between these two was some of the best I’ve read. Like I said, I couldn’t help but root for these two to work things out and get their HEA!!
One thing I love about Vi Keeland’s writing, is that she has the ability to give us stories that are intriguing, heartbreaking, heartfelt and of course off the charts HOT!! Bennett will melt your panties 😉 I have come to expect all emotions to be effected when I pick up a book by Vi. But her stories are the perfect balance of emotions. One thing I know for sure when I finish a book by Vi Keeland, is that I will NOT want it to end and I will have a HUGE smile on my face.
I thought the pace and flow of this story was great. I also loved the some of the secondary characters we meet. I would 100% recommend this book to all office romance readers out there.
I don’t know how Vi Keeland writes a book just as amazing as her previous books but she has done it again and produced another fantastic story
I thought this was going to just be like all other office romance books but this one for me was totally different, i loved how the characters chemistry built over time and i loved their banter it was so perfect for these two characters.
Bennett was your over confident, egotistical male and thought the was the absolute best at everything but even though he only showed this side to Annalise for most of the book, i loved how we could see his other side and that he only showed glimpses and Annalise just chipped away.
Annalise was another fantastic character who was determined in her work life and was successful but when it came to men she was only a little clueless and i loved how Bennet helped her other this, even though she had been in a relationship for 8 years you could see she was not treated right.
There was so much for this story and i don’t want to let every secret out but this story shows us that everyone deserves love and they struggle for different reasons. I loved the way Vi Keeland writes her stories and how it’s not as all as it seems.
Loved this book and if you’re fan of Vi Keeland you won’t be disappointed loved it
