I really enjoyed this story. brilliant but unusual worldbuilding and strong interesting characters. the storyline made you wanting more.
Wayward Soul by L.D. Greenwood is a paranormal fantasy that I listened to on audio narrated by Meghan Kelly.
This is the first book of L.D.’s that I have read and it definitely won’t by my last. The book does end on a cliffhanger but that’s not a surprise since it is in a trilogy. I look forward to reading the second book Wayward Hope.
Meghan did a great job on the narration. She makes it really easy to follow along with the story.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves Paranormal or Fantasy.

Wayward Soul (Wayward Gods, Book 1) is a character driven novel that follows magical researcher Ellie Alwood. We are introduced into a whole new creation encompassing a potpourri of magical and paranormal elements in a fantasy setting. The character building is solid & well detailed descriptive realm settings. I loved the aspect of shapeshifters being included in this ya fantasy series with a sprinkle of romance. A magical realm that encircles a paranormal twists within a suspenseful narrative.
This ends with a cliffhanger, hopefully book two will be available soon.
Narator Meghan Kelly is the perfect choice to bring this fantasy & character’s to reality. She is able to portray a diverse set of character’s voices, including ya ones.
There’s plenty of intrigue in this story and I’m like a bug to a light when it comes to paranormal. Ellie finds her sister dead and a soul broker in her living room. Most people can’t see the soul brokers but she can. This puts her on a mission to save her sisters soul and a different world. I offer huge compliments to the author for her great world building. I felt like I was there but there wasn’t so much it drowned the story.
There are twists, suspense, mystery and other elements of suspense that kept me listening every chance I got. The story has a nice pace that gets faster as it moves towards the climax. I love that Elie is a normal person not a super anything. She’s humble and kind. None of the characters are perfect in any way. That makes the story believable and the characters relatable.
Meghan Kelly took a minute to get used to but once I did I really enjoyed her voice and think she’s a good fit for the story.
Overall, a really great story!
I have never read a book with this kind of concept and have to say I am happy I tried it out. How the great beyond was created was such a sad story because of a mistake but eventually it was able to work its way out. The characters in this book had so much depth and listening you felt like you were there right along with them. I really enjoyed listening to this book and can’t wait to see what comes next in the mid series.
Wayward Soul
The Wayward Gods, Book 1
By: L. D. Greenwood
Narrated by: Meghan Kelly
Paranormal is not my usual listen, but sometimes I like to step out of my comfort zone and change things up. This debut novel by LD Greenwood kept me listening and completely enthralled in Ellie’s life! Ellie comes home to find her sister, Jana, dead at the hands of a soul broker. When she exchanges her sister’s life for the retrieval of a stone, Ellie enters into a world of magic and deceit. So much happens in this magical realm, from meeting the Goddess Fate and hearing her story as well as the underlying feelings Ellie develops for Chester, her guide. Ellie’s journey puts family first, but she does find that there is a lot more going on than meets the eye. Will she be able to save Jana’s soul? Can she get the stone from a soul collector? What will the cost be in the end? It’s got a lot going on, a little suspense, a little love and a whole lot of interesting characters sure to keep you entertained. It leaves us wide open for book 2 and I am looking forward to it!
Meghan Kelly is a go to narrator for me. I normally listen to her in a romantic setting, but this book shows her versatility. She brings the story a vibrancy with the many characters she has to perform. Her sensitivity shows with Chester and his child, and then turns into the evilness when dealing with the soul broker. Her intuitiveness gives each character the perfect personality and is like listening to a movie!

Audio Review from April 2019
Soo this is a 98% fantasy with just droppings of romance hinted here and there.
The story is decent. The narration was great.
The sad part is the silly book ends on a cliffhanger but not a bad one just kind of a funny one.
Narrated by Meghan Kelly
Fast paced PN story, not a romance per say, but lots of potential.
Meghan Kelly did a fantastic job narrating.
