When investigative journalist Jennifer Longo receives a random text message stating she has won a free trip on a cruise ship, she takes up the offer without a moment’s hesitation. To Jennifer’s surprise, old friends Sophie and Kristen are also guests on the ship. Jennifer is excited to see her old friends; however, jealousy is quick to set in when they see Chris, the ship’s most attractive and … and mysterious male guest.
As the ship departs, the guests are excited to be traveling to an unknown destination, although, terminally ill couple Jack and Anne are surprised to see that so many young people have joined them on their last trip, a trip that they believed, was to peacefully end their own lives.
As the trip progresses, it isn’t long before Jennifer begins to realise that the trip is not what it seems. Peculiar events start to occur, a guest suddenly disappears and all contact to and from the ship is lost. While back on the mainland, an associate of Jennifer begins to receive hand delivered threats, signed off by the cryptic name of ANGSAL.
Meanwhile, controversial surgeon turned scientist, Lucas Salazar is on the verge of a scientific breakthrough that will guarantee to change the way humans live forever, much to the shock and resistance of the wider population.
Will Jennifer be able to piece together what is happening and make it off the ship alive?
Will the temperamental Lucas Salazar overcome the people’s criticism, or will it force him to do something he’d rather forget?

After several journalists, some web, radio and newspapers have gone to an awards banquet where Jennifer wins several awards as do other journalists. Then unbeknown to each other a group of 10-12 win a free trip on a cruise trip. It leaves@ 2 days after the banquet. There are no other details given about the cruise except when and where to meet. When they get to the cruise ship Sophie, Jennifer and Krystal seem excited to see each other there.they have been close but not to close friends for a while.
There is an older couple Jack & Anne who are really surprised to see so many young people on the cruise. They both have terminal illnesses and their doctor tells them if they take this cruise they will die on it together and not be a burden to their family. In the dining room they always sit by themselves.
There is a guy on the trip named Chris who as far as the others that talk about the banquet don’t remember seeing him there, but both Sophie and Jennifer thought they saw him afterward at different places. They don’t believe he is a journalist and he always sits with Krystal in the dining room by themselves. Both Sophie and Jennifer think he is cute, but he seems to have only eyes for Krystal, at least to start with. There is another guy on board, Adrian, who only has eyes foe Sophie.
Every time they are all sitting down eating, Krystal has Chris take a note to each of the guests cabins to tell them what time the next meal is and then he comes back to the dining room. Several of them wonder why the time seems so critical that they need a reminder.
Back at home Malcolm, Jennifer’s ex-boyfriend who doesn’t want to be an ex keeps getting letters telling him that Jennifer is in trouble and her phone seems to be always off. He goes to see Detective Alex Johnson, who Jennifer has helped solve some crime in the past and who treats her like she is his daughter.
And back on the cruise sip by the second day the WiFi goes down, then might come up briefly so that any messages have been sent to them will show up, but it goes back down so fast that Jennifer doesn’t have time to reply or make any comments on the Longo Files website against Lucas Salazar. As far as Jennifer knows everyone except the older couple have written how bad Lucas Salazar is. He is trying to clown humans.
Jennifer begins to wonder why a cruise ship this large would have so few people on board and none of them have seen the Captain.
I am not going to give other details so I won’t spoil anything, it is a stand alone book but I think it would be better if you at least read Scars of Betrayal first. I have now read all three links of Betrayal, Scares of Betrayal and now Waves of Betrayal. I think each one of them gets better and better. Dean Bromley’s brings his characters to life. This one was so good, I couldn’t put it down. I read from beginning to end. I think it is a GREAT book.
