Leda’s socialite family and friends insist that no one would have wanted to harm her, but Detective Kerri isn’t convinced.
Until another random young woman is killed in exactly the same way. Kerri and her team profile a monstrous killer who enjoys terrifying his victims before stalking and killing them.
Soon Kerri finds that the killer is after her, too, and that the key to finding him may just be in the homeless shelter. ADVANCE PRAISE FOR WATCHING YOU
“Wow, another gripping, fast paced thriller. Emotionally intense, ingenious in concept, an expertly woven plot, and an ending that left me gasping. Highly recommended!” Literati Literature Lovers
“Though third in the series, this book can be read as a superb standalone. The plot is brilliant; also the terrifying concept – a killer cyber-stalking people via their phones! On a more comforting note I just love Kerri, haunted by her painful past and hiding her secret love with the equally likable Alex. The whole book is well thought out, nonstop with twists and turns. I was left open-mouthed when the killer’s identity was finally revealed. This is another totally gripping, chilling, fast-paced thriller and a fantastic addition to the series. I really enjoyed it and am already looking forward to the next one!” Relax and Read Book Reviews

“Terrifying, to start in the mind of the killer. 100% engrossing with not a single lull. I thought I had guessed, but the ending was a shock.” Goodreads reviewer
“WOWSERS, this series just gets better and better. I loved the first two but OMG, this has one seriously cold and twisted killer stalking a detective who’s vowed revenge. What a fast-paced, gripping story with descriptions that made me squirm…I freaking loved it. 5 massive stars!” Chelle’s Book Reviews
“Ingenious and frightening because the killer’s methods are so plausible. The most innocent and unaware are vulnerable. Previous Detective Kerri Blasco books are Fear Dreams and Her Last Breath. All are highly recommended. Five stars! Goodreads reviewer

An unbelievably good story. It grabs you and won’t let go. Fast paced, tense, eerie, great thriller. Loved the interaction between Kerri and Alex . They are wonderful characters. The writing is superb with an ending that will totally surprise you. This author truly knows how to write. Can’t wait to read the next book.
I have been reading this author for several years now, and all I can say is her books just keep getting better and better! Her characters are believable and her books will keep you up until you finish them! It is good to see Detective Kerri again! I promisr, if you read watching you you will want to go back and read the Embryo series!!
A real psychological thriller with just enough red herrings to keep you guessing. I really enjoyed this book and it was difficult to out down once I started it. Kerri Blasco is one of the cops investigating the murder of a young woman who works at the local mission. The murder is particularly awful because the young mission worker has been shot at close range and a note has been tacked to her body – Watching You. There have been witnesses to the woman being followed, but so far the police have come up short. Then the unthinkable happens, Kerri has that same message Watching You, as a text on her phone. Now it is up to the police to work much faster to try to catch the murderer, as one of their own has been targeted. The story has been well written and flows seamlessly. You can really understand each character and follow along as the police do their tracking. Recommended highly.
J. A. Schneider writes perfect books for people in a hurry. Also for commuters with time on their hands as they ride on trains, buses, ferries and subways. In my mind these commuter folks are her perfect audience. Why? Because the action starts on page 1! You are into the story before you have a minute to decide whether you want to be or not. Somehow, there is no putting her books down until you get to the last page. I would venture to say, some people could polish off HER LAST BREATH by reading on the way to work, at lunch break, and commuting home. In our busy lives this is definitely a good thing. The only downside is waiting for her next book
HER LAST BREATH is Schneider’s second foray into the stand-alone novel, although if you’ve read anything else she has written, you will recognize Detectives Kerri Blasco and Alex Brand. These New York City detectives have made appearances in all of her books including the “Embryo” series. A recurrent character does not have to mean a specific series of books that follow a planned timeline. I mention these specific characters to pique your interest in those other works.
Fast pace is not the only think going for this book. Not at all! There is the mystery that really gives nothing away until the very end. When I start reading a whodunit, out come the virtual deerstalker and clay pipe. Readers of mysteries all want to be Sherlock Holmes or Nancy Drew or Jessica Fletcher. The clues that point in every direction make us crazy. Just when we think we have solved the mystery, a balloon with the word WRONG pops cartoon-like in our heads. There is a body, of course, a young woman with amnesia, along with lies and half-truths through which we must sift to find the illusive means, motive, and opportunity.
This book is a good read! Don’t just take my word for it! Buy a copy of HER LAST BREATH and challenge yourself to find out whodunit.
Interesting characters that had me guessing almost to the end.
The cops kept talking about this horrible murder – which actually, for New York, was very tame. Also – very disappointed in who the murderer turned out to be, and the totally unnecessary and unbelievable rape. The murderer had shown absolutely no interest in making his murders anything but quick and relatively painless.
I love it.A very great mistery and Drama. With an amazing twist that will definitely surprise you and leave you in awe.Every page will leave you wanting to read more to the end.I stayed up till after midnight reading wish I have always done.when it’s an interesting book. It’s a must read people try it.Am definitely looking forward to reading more of Joyce Schneider books.
Your’s Truley Ms Gay Tatum.
I found the story line to be interesting, however I felt the book drug on for a bit.
Good mystery, had me guessing until the end. Author is good at building tension and maintaining the pace.
I enjoyed this book as I like the main characters. However the murderer was predictable early on, actually from a comment on the cover about a “mind-bending twist” or some such, which gave it all away. It was just a matter of waiting to see how they figured it out. Still, a good read.
You probably would never guess who was the killer, will keep you reading until the wee hours.
I would recommend this book.
It was scary to read
Tense thriller with lots of good characters.
A thriller that shows how police try to find clues and put them together to identify perp. How frustrating it can be for investigate force to assemble clues.
I enjoyed this book. It was an easy read.
Entertaining police procedural. Keeps you guessing. The characters of the suspects were well developed. Could have done a bit more developing the characters of the cops, though.
language turned me off real fast!
It was a pretty good read and went back and forth with characters that might have been the guilty one.
This book had you guessing the entire time. Very much a page turner making you wanting to read more and more. A good physiological thriller.
