WATCHING (The Making of Riley Paige—Book One) is book #1 in a new psychological thriller series by #1 bestselling author Blake Pierce, whose free bestseller Once Gone (Book #1) has received over 1,000 five star reviews.
22 year old psychology major—and aspiring FBI agent—Riley Paige finds herself in a battle for her life as her closest friends on campus are abducted and killed by a serial killer. She senses that she, too, is being targeted—and that if she is to survive, she must apply her brilliant mind to stop the killer herself.
When the FBI hits a dead end, they are impressed enough by Riley’s keen insight into the killer’s mind to allow her to help. Yet the killer’s mind is a dark, twisted place, one too diabolical to make sense of, and one that threatens to bring Riley’s fragile psyche crashing down. In this deadly game of cat and mouse, can Riley survive unscarred?
It is also a standalone series, and you do not need to have read the Riley Paige series to jump into this series–which starts at the beginning!

As in all good reviews i read i totally agree this a story you can’t put down!!
This gripping page-turner will keep you up at night, and leave you wanting more from this talented author. You may not get anything else done while you’re reading this, so be aware! Riley is an engaging character with a creepy talent for getting into the mind of a killer. Definitely recommend the Riley Paige series.
Was very good
Still an ok read, but… very contrived, somewhat unrealistic, forced storyline. The later books are much better.
Blake Pierce is a Terrific writer. Pure mastery.
I’ve read some of the Riley Paige series and found that this first of the series of her younger years (the making of Riley Paige) created an understanding of how/why the characters became as they are in the other series. I guessed the killer early on but so many twists made me unsure if I was correct. Definitely had to keep reading. Great story.
Found the book so entertainIng that I got the other books in the series and have read them too.
Character development is unpredictable, her insight into the perpetrator is uncanny
I liked this book. Kept me guessing until the end.
Good read, but easy to guess the outcome
Unlike the authors other books, predictable.
I enjoyed it it kept me reading
I love this author, so talented
FBI Profilers fascinate me, naturally, Watching had me drawn to Riley Page as author Blake Pierce developed her intuitive instinct into a killer’s thoughts. Mr. Pierce created the best catalyst, brutal murders of 2 good friends. Riley ‘s life was changed, complicated, questioned. Pages were flying with reveals that made Watching an exceptional goodread. FBI wanted Riley, but did she want it. Perfect first book in the series Making Riley Paige. Waiting is next.
Blake Pierce and Riley Paige made my fav list of authors and characters.
Surprise ending. Intuition in bloom. I was engaged all the way through. Great series.
The plot was good and the characters likeable, but unfortunately what spoiled the book for me was that as I got further into the book, the editing errors became so annoying that it was difficult to continue reading it. That I could get beyond just to finish the book but there was an error close to the end that made no sense and would have been better to have been left out. I am referring to the scene in the library between the protagonist and Professor Hayman. They have a short conversation in the library which is fine but later on that same day when she visits him in his office, he says I didn’t think I would see you today, but he had just seen her that day and so that did not make any sense. This should have been caught by an editor if not the author. Also, even though the author threw in a number of red herrings, it was obvious to me who the perpetrator was shortly into the novel.
It kept me interested and I couldn’t put it down.
I would recommend this book. Its different.
Riley is a character I would like to follow for a long time to come.
Didn’t hold my interest. Did not finish it.
