WATCHING (The Making of Riley Paige—Book One) is book #1 in a new psychological thriller series by #1 bestselling author Blake Pierce, whose free bestseller Once Gone (Book #1) has received over 1,000 five star reviews.
22 year old psychology major—and aspiring FBI agent—Riley Paige finds herself in a battle for her life as her closest friends on campus are abducted and killed by a serial killer. She senses that she, too, is being targeted—and that if she is to survive, she must apply her brilliant mind to stop the killer herself.
When the FBI hits a dead end, they are impressed enough by Riley’s keen insight into the killer’s mind to allow her to help. Yet the killer’s mind is a dark, twisted place, one too diabolical to make sense of, and one that threatens to bring Riley’s fragile psyche crashing down. In this deadly game of cat and mouse, can Riley survive unscarred?
It is also a standalone series, and you do not need to have read the Riley Paige series to jump into this series–which starts at the beginning!

Another wonderful book by this author. This series is going to be a must read for me. The first book is full of suspense and is a great story. I am amazed with this author. I love all of the emotions and everything about this book!!
I thought, from the awesome simple, yet frightening cover, this would be a good one and I was not disappointed. I had suspect after suspect, first swayed this way then that, and though I had the villain in sight the entire time, I could not firm it up. I was in suspense, frightened for Riley and wondering how many would have to die before the villain was exposed. It took a twist and it wasn’t what I expected. The why of it had me stumped and impressed with the author’s ability to surprise me and treat to me such a wonderfully interesting character as Riley.

The author did an excellent job of bringing us into the head of Riley Paige. We felt her emotional turmoil as she tried to deal with the bloody scene she had seen before her and her need to find answers before time ran out. We watch as Riley is desperate to get into the mind of a killer, but we see her fear of what may happen if she delves too far. Watching Riley’s mind work was as an enjoyable part of the read as the actually mystery that the author took us through to solve. Enough that I got the next book and will continue to read this series
I love all books by Blake Pierce. Wonderful characters, twists and turns -couldn’t put it down
Interesting concept. The writing was ok, a bit predictable.
I hadn’t read anything from this author, but I have 12 in queue from him. Started with this one. It was an interesting, but sad premise for a young person to experience. The only thing I didn’t like was the repeating of sentences the lead character had heard before. I did assume correctly who the bad guy was, but there weren’t real obvious clues. I am reading other books in this series. Always a good sign. Author offers the first book in several of his series for free.
A little slow at first. Told from Riley thoughts about what happened and what was happening to her. Something new and someone new to follow.
Like to read about the making of main character and then read the more mature charater.
I COULD NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN AND I COULD NOT GET ANY SLEEP UNTILL I READ THE LAST PAGE.DEFINETLY A PAGE TUNER
I love all of his series- have them all
Some pretty obvious errors with names but still a good read.
It was good.I love it.I like scary books but, this here is hooks on me and my eyes
Slow in developing but it kept my interest.
Very tedious dialogue. One of the very few books I didn’t bother to finish
Kept me guessing until the end of the book.
He writes in all different characters and every single one of his books I go back and forth from page to Kate to Avery all page-turners action-packed
Just not enough intrigue
Easy read but not really believable
I really liked this book. It reminded me of Kay Hooper.
What a great psychological thriller. I couldn’t put it down until I had read to the end. Riley Paige helps the FBI in their search for a serial killer as she trains to be an agent when she finishes college. As I read the novel I wondered who was really “watching” —the killer or Riley? Spectacular suspense at its best.
