Have read this book 3 times. I love the human-canine relationship. I believe that we can communicate with our dogs. My dog answers yes and no to questions. Licking his mouth is how he responds yes to questionss. She has a huge vocabulary. I learned a lot about communicating with dogs from this book.
Best dog in a book EVER!
My all time favorite of Dean Koontz’s books. This one made me a fan forever. I read it years ago, and purchased it for my Kindle recently to re-read and savor again. Can’t recommend it highly enough. You will love the genius dog, Einstein!
A romping good read!
Favorite book of all time !
I read it years ago and bought it recently to reread.
Fast-reading, thought provoking and enjoyable.
A “man and his dog”… and “mans best friend”lovingly told.
This is one of my favorite books ever – and I read a lot, so that’s saying something. This book stayed with me a long time after I finished it and I’ve gone back to read it again. I like his writing, but my gripe with Koontz has always been that his stories are great but it feels as if he just doesn’t know how to end them. The endings often feel rushed or flat. Well, Watchers is Koontz at his best: good creepy story, really interesting and unusual characters and a decent ending!
Excellent book. I thoroughly enjoyed this and couldn’t put it down. Very well written.
Read this years ago a couple of time never forgot it so wanted yo teadnit again. Go?t me hooked on dean Koontz. Wish there were more stars I could give it
I read it years ago. I still remember how much I enjoyed it. It’s a fun, spooky, read. Love the dog!
Renminded me too much of the movie’s Project X and Planet of the Apes
Maybe one of my all time favorite books.
I couldn’t put it down. Dean Koontz is brilliant!
One of my favorite all time books
Watchers by Dean Koontz is one of my all time favorite books. I have read this story so many times over the last 30 years or so, that I have lost count of the number of times I have read it. Each time I read it, I enjoy it all over again! I bought three copies of the paperback to make sure I always had it to read. Over time I gave away two of my beloved copies to friends. When I saw the opportunity to acquire the E-book copy, I bought it immediately. What can I say about this amazing story? Extraordinary story! Unbelievable frightening plot! Your heart will be pounding as you read from one frightening event to the next! Can the hero and heroine and the star of the book, a beautiful, intelligent dog, survive an unbelievable terrifying alien enemy and a nasty, cruel human enemy! All I can say is you must read this book! It is one of the very best ever written by Dean Koontz – if not his best in my opinion. One additional note. This book has had THREE movies made with this story as the basis of the movies. The first one filmed, has the star as a teenager (when in the book the male here is an adult in his 30s) with of course a teenage female friend and the dog. I strongly suggest you read the book! The movie does not do the book justice AT ALL and certainly doesn’t include the story as it is written! What is worse, the next two remakes of this amazing story got so far from the book’s story that the makers should be ashamed naming those two films after this great book. SO, if you see any movie called “Watchers” with a credit to the author Dean Koontz, be aware the films do NOT reflect the true story in the book!
This is a book for all dog lovers! I found this story delightful and truly engaging. I would love to believe my dog could be as smart as Einstein with just a little training!
Always great stories by Koonz
This is one of the last books of Koontz that I really liked – his writing was unique, characters well developed (but not sappy, like some of the more recent ones), and stories that were interesting, extremely well written, and surprising.
