Melanie Blythe has a house, a career, and a cat. She doesn’t need a man. But she isn’t the only one who’s noticed the gorgeous cop down the street. When her faithless cat prances home from the cop’s house with a note tucked in his collar, it might be the beginning of something beautiful…or it might be Melanie’s death warrant. Detective Finn DeLuca is stuck at home recovering from a hit-and-run … from a hit-and-run accident, and has plenty of time to wonder about the woman two doors down. There’s something mysterious about the beautiful brunette, and he’s determined to get to know her.
But someone else has other plans.
As the two grow closer, someone is watching—and waiting. Sooner or later, their chance will come.
And the two lovebirds will never see it coming.

Awesome book
Melanie Blythe, a graphic artist and loner, has a feline visitor each morning. One morning the cat shows up with a witty, charming note attached to its collar. It’s from Melanie’s neighbor, Finn, a detective who is home on leave recovering from an accident. She learns that the cat visits him each afternoon and evening and they begin passing notes via cat collar. Their banter gets cuter and cuter and eventually they meet and sparks fly.
Only someone is watching and someone seems to hate Mel. Who is it? Why? And what will they do next?
Finn’s boisterous, loving, funny family is a complete bonus and I am so glad that there will be more DeLuca Family adventures to follow.
Thanks to Netgalley and Amy Reece for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
This is a first time read author for me and I truly enjoyed Finn and Melanie’s story. Finn is at home recovering from a recent incident and he has eyes on his neighbors two doors down. Melanie is introverted, shy and the cat is delivering cute letters between the two. I loved Finn’s family and hope to read more about them. Filled with a bit of suspense and action.
Mel and Finn met trough stray cat who is become their daily routine and Mel’s new pet. Mel is a shy introvert person and when she finds out that Finn is in a wheelchair is trying to help him. So their story starts slowly with eating together, watching a movie, as Finn rehabilitation progress so does their relationship. But there is something that is ruining their happiness and is a stalker who tried to kill Mel. Why and who is yet to find out. Lovely sweet story with great characters, witty and fun to read. Although is kind of predictable it was an enjoyable read and I had fun reading it.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly
3.5 stars
Finn and Melanie are neighbors who meet through a stray cat. Their meet/greet happens through notes written by them from the cat’s perspective. They finally meet in person and the weird starts to happen when Mel acquires a stalker.
I loved the first part of the story. The notes were cute and full of personality, and made for an interesting meet/greet. Once Melanie and Finn officially meet though, Mel regressed into an immature youth and I started to struggle with the story. Her constant self doubts wore me out fairly quick, especially since Finn hadn’t given her any reason to doubt his interest in her. For his part, Finn gets a medal for how long Mel dragged out her insecurities without talking to him. Their chemistry was nice with the sex scenes mainly closed door, but it was hard to be totally pulled in because of Melanie’s constant self-berating.
The supporting cast was my favorite part. Finn’s family was boisterous, nosey, and loving, creating happy chaos whenever one appeared, and I look forward to seeing them get their own HEAs!
The stalker was obvious, however the why did stump me a bit. When it was all revealed however, it wasn’t quite what I was expecting. It was more twisted then I expected it to be, but did make for a crazy wrap up.
Overall, the story was good. A little choppy and repetitive in some areas, but for the most part, the plot sailed smoothly. I would continue the series to see if Finn’s siblings meet their own matches.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book courtesy of Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This story begins with a stray cat, which is spending time with 2 different neighbors. Finn an injured police officer begins sending notes attached to the cat’s collar to Melanie. Due to different circumstances, both characters are home all day/night. This was a quick easy read. Old fashioned note exchanging, mystery/suspense and romance. One down-side is that it is written in 3rd person and I just don’t care for that type of writing style. Otherwise, it is a sweet story.
This is a terrific boxset in my favorite genre of romance suspense. And what a great family the DeLucas are! Hunky protective brothers and strong sassy sisters. All of the stories are wonderfully written with high suspense and sweet romance. Fabulous characters drive these stories with a mix of danger, intrigue, mystery, family and love. You can’t beat this series especially at this price. I’m looking forward to the next story. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.
Finn and Melanie was a great story. I really liked the storyline. The chemistry and suspense was there throughout the book. Great first book in series.
4.5* I thought I was going to read a mafia family. Har.
Great engaging beginning and different approach to getting to know the main characters. Cute with dog and cat. This was a very good romance suspense. Many interactions between the hero and heroine that were fun, cute and just wow. Easy and smooth read. Very filling and satisfying. Villain and villainous acts surprising but hinted at throughout. I received this book gifted by author and reviewed it because I wanted too.
DeLuca Fam means love, family, loyalty, caring and not mafia
