A sexy and emotional second chance romance…David Wiesel lives for making music, partying, and women. He has a wicked sense of humor and a body made for sinning. He’s the kind of guy every mama warns her daughter about.Sylvia Price lives for her daughter, theater, and teaching. She’s living the responsible life and left her wild ways in the past. She’s the kind of woman every mama wants her son … of woman every mama wants her son to marry. Not that she’s looking for that.
One drunken night when they were teenagers left them irrevocably bound. Fifteen years later, an accident brings them back together and there is no denying the heat that scorched them when they were young is still there, sparking between them.
While David is more than willing to stoke those flames, Sylvia is afraid this time, the fire will burn her right to the ground.

Want a a rock star, second chance romance with a lot of feeling? This is definitely a story you want to read. I loved David and was excited for his character development and story. His character is well developed and some of his issues are relatable from personal demons to his relationship with Sylvia. Both went through a lot having Emma so young, and when an accident occurs both are thrown back together where sparks fly. Second chances are almost always deserved but will it work for Sylvia and David?
Now that I’ve awkwardly proposed to Julia Wolf after reading the previous book in this series I feel like I should offer to have her babies and really make this weird. Just kidding. Sort of. Once you read Watch Me Unravel you’ll fully understand why I am so obsessed with her writing. Where the last book was filled with hilarity David and Sylvia’s story is full of intense love and growth that kept me constantly happy sighing, tearing up and frankly falling completely in love with David.
It’s not often you see a character grow the way David does in this. When a terrifying accident causes him to pause his life of constant movement it’s like he’s finally seeing the reality of the lives of the people he’s loved from a distance for so long. Where David was a rolling stone, Sylvia was an anchor. A pillar of strength with a heart so full of love you can’t help but feel how warm she is. These two seem like two polar opposites held together only by the daughter they love so much, but that’s so far from the truth. They have one of the biggest most beautiful loves I have ever read.
David and Sylvia are amazing! For them to still be able to co-parent after everything, was just amazing.
I loved how someone FINALLY wrote about how debilitating anxiety can be. You can look completely normal and seem like you have it all together, but it’s not always the case. I loved how it was talked about and dealt with. Not just shoved under the rug.
This book was so well written and I can’t freaking wait for the next book!!!
I’m going to go all out and be totally honest. With the exception of Emma, I hated all the names of the female characters in this book. I thought this was set in the present but all the women have names from the 1950s. When I got to Azalea the waitress I almost stopped reading. Fortunately, she was in her 80s so it was suitable. Others may think I’m crazy but the name Sylvia is not sexy and I found that to be distracting. I love this author and I loved this book but I needed to get get this out there.
This book took on the subject of the absentee father which I don’t see all that often. Never having had much of a father of his own, David loves his daughter from a distance and thinks that’s enough. Emma’s mother resents this and resents all the time she’s had to cover for him with their daughter. She also secretly harbors some deeper emotions she keeps locked away. When Emma is hurt, her parents are forced into being together, to communicate, and relate to each other. Where this leads, you will just have to read to find out.
The author builds great characters. They interact naturally with easy dialog. Then she gives them a solid plot that is fluid and keeps the reader interested. The writing is intelligent and engaging. I truly enjoyed this book and I would definitely recommend it.
***I received an ARC of this book in exchange for a honest review.***
David and Sylvia share s teenage daughter, Emma. But that’s all they share for fifteen years.
David is a rocker and happily lives that lifestyle with all its many vices. He fully indulges without thinking about Sylvia. She’s was just a one night stand and a broken condom.
Sylvia, meanwhile has the patience and generosity of a saint and David doesn’t deserve someone as awesome as she’s is, sharing her daughter. He’s thoughtless and selfish. And more importantly, never there while Sylvia is always there. She loves and hates him.
But when Emma is injured, it’s the very first time they’ve actually acted like a family.
Will it last? Because David has a hell of a lot of growing up to do to be a man.
Excellent
I Loved this book, pure and simple that is a fact. You can see from the many 5 star reviews that this is a must read, and I second that motion.
I completely adored David and Sylvia’s story, and their second chance at love 15 years later. I was totally mesmerised and invested as soon as I started reading, Julia’s writing just sucks you into its depths and doesn’t let you go until the end.
This is a beautifully crafted, emotional story that has everything you need in a Romance.
Thoroughly enjoyed it and I highly recommend it.
Watch Me Unravel is the 2nd installment in the Blue is the Color series. While it is not necessary to have read Times like These it is helpful so you have more information about many of the characters. In this installment, we learn much more about Guitarist David Wiesel getting his backstory including both his daughter, Emma, and her mother, Sylvia.
Ms Wolf once again does an amazing job creating characters that you will love. She also does a wonderful job with David’s issues with both anxiety alcohol abuse. The brotherhood between the band members is once again shown beautifully.
I can’t wait for more of the Blue is the Color series. I especially want to know more about Jasper and his mother Reinece.
Another page-turner by Julia Wolf. I LOVE her writing and her fantastic, heartfelt characters.
This book is a brilliant continuation of the series. It was very enjoyable and managed to pull at my heart strings throughout. The storyline was fantastic and kept me interested and wanting more the whole way through. I look forward to reading more in this series.
Watch Me Unravel is book 2 in the Blue is the Color series and believe me when I say you must get your hands on this book ASAP!
We get to know a little bit about David in the first book, but this time we really get up close and personal with him. I absolutely loved how devoted he was to his daughter and it really showed throughout this book. The way his eyes are opened throughout the story is also wonderfully written. When his daughter, Emma, is in an accident David rushes home to be by her side. With their typical time only consisting of a few days or maybe a week together before he leaves on his next tour, the chance to spend a much longer amount of time together has David finally able to be a part of things he normally misses out on.
The only wrinkle in the situation is that there is no way Emma’s mom Sylvia will let her daughter stay away that long while trying to heal from her accident. Even though she has no desire to be anywhere near David, the two decided that it will be best for Emma’s recovery if they all stay together.
With both of them having such strong personalities and with Sylvia’s very strong opinion about David , forcing them to be civil in a confined space proves very difficult. Throw in the fact that they both have such a strong attraction to each other and the sparks begin to fly.
This book was heartbreaking at times but also very raw and real. The characters quickly became some of my favorites and I was dying to know how things were going to work out.
A must read book for sure! – By Alisa
This author is CRUSHING it! Seriously, she’s one to watch I’ve enjoyed every one of her books and with each one it seems she gets just that much better.
David and Sylvia’s story was just perfect for them. They overcame all kinds of hurdles to get to each other (hurdles they put in their own path much of the time) and really proved that sometimes maybe people are meant for each other in their own time. We change, we grow, as we live through each life experience, sometimes we need those changes to get out of our own way. I think this book beautifully illustrates that growth.
I loved that Sylvia had an edge to her. I loved that David had always had the wrong opinion of her. The musical angle was also a big draw for me. Emma was a good addition as well. Just overall such a unique and touching book. I devoured each and every word and I can’t wait until June when we get Jasper’s story and hopefully learn more about elusive Ian!
I fell in love with Julia’s writing in Times like These and she didn’t disappoint with David and Sylvia’s story. Their story isn’t easy and will tear at your heartstrings. I’m now a #BlueIsTheColorGroupie. I can’t wait for more of this series!
Julia Wolf has been one of my favorite authors since I read the sublime series. And she keeps getting better and better. David and Sylvia’s relationship is based on their daughter but the sparks fly between the two showing that opposite do attract. One knew what she wanted but resolved herself into letting go of the dream that she had to be with the man that she loved and the other living his dream but missing an important part of it. Julia wove another intricate beautiful story that holds you captive goe hours as you hesitate to put the book down. Another jem of a story Julia!
I enjoyed David & Sylvia’s story; book 2 in the Blue Is The Color series. Book 1 set the bar very, very high! Book two was a great read, but not at the same level as book 1.
David & Sylvia have history; their daughter who is now the age of 15. However, David & Sylvia were never together as a couple making their story very complicated. Their daughter Emma hurts herself which forces the three of them together. In addition to David realizing that what he thought he knew about Sylvia, he discovered that he not only didn’t know her, he also didn’t really know himself and who he really wanted to be. In book 1 we see David as the goofy, carefree, life of the party, but we see, as do Sylvia and David, a different side of him in book 2. David doesn’t disappoint!
David and Sylvia have been connected since that one fateful night when they were teens. She was left pregnant and unprepared. He went on to be a rock star and never stayed in one place too long.
Fifteen years later they find themselves together under unfortunate circumstances. With their lives knocked slightly off kilter, David soon sees Sylvia as someone other then the mother of his daughter. To be fair, he’s never really seen Sylvia for who she is. She’s strong and independent, beautiful and smart. Unfortunately, Sylvia isn’t as certain, especially considering their past. These characters are so easy to love and become invested in. David and Sylvia’s story is sexy and slow to start but truly became one of my favorites. A definite must read!
I loved Times Like These but Julia really outdo’s herself in this second book of the Blue is the Colour Series. From the beginning I was drawn in to this story of two people connected at a very young age by an accidental pregnancy.
David is the guitarist for mega rock band Blue is the Colour, Sylvia gave birth to his daughter when she was still a teenager and has devoted her life to bringing up Emma pretty much alone. Although David adores his daughter, his contribution to her upbringing has been mainly financial with the occasional visit when his band is in town. All this changes when Emma is in a car accident and her parents find themselves thrown together while they deal with her illness and recovery.
Although Sylvia has always had feelings for David, she has always kept her distance from him, only interacting with him when it concerned their daughter. When David arrives back, Sylvia’s long hidden feelings for him start to resurface. As he spends more time with her, David realises how much Sylvia has sacrificed for their daughter and how little he has contributed, always putting his rockstar lifestyle first.
As Emma is unable to the stairs at her Mom’s house she and Sylvia temporarily move into David’s Condo. Although their interaction is awkward at first, David soon learns that Sylvia is a lot more than just his kid’s mother, she is an interesting and sexy woman who is hard to resist, but first he has to break down the barriers that she has erected between them.
This story is full of anguish and pain, as David begins to understand what he has missed and what he wants, becoming a true family with Sylvia and Emma. After suffering so many years of disappointment Sylvia has to learn to trust that David means what he says. Finally the interactions between David and his daughter brought me to tears.
I love rock star romances but this heartbreaking and very realistic story from Julia is truly exceptional and not to be missed.
Love this series!
Well, Julia Wolf did it again! This is one heck of a series. David and Sylvia are perfection! Both are bent but not broken but oh, so beautiful! They need each other and both are in denial. This is a lovely story about two people coming full circle. This is definitely a must read!
I was really intrigued by David after reading Times Like These as I didn’t know how he could be in a successful band and have a young daughter so was stoked he got the next book!
After an accident David moves his daughter Emma and her Mum Sylvia into his place so Emma has all the support she needs while she recovers. This is the turning point in both David and Sylvia’s life as they have the opportunity to really get to know each other and heaven forbid communicate instead of keeping their distance from each and having their own ideas of what each other is like. There is plenty of awkward moments, tender moments, times you want to smack them on the back of the head and have your fingers crossed they can finally come together not for Emma but for each other.
We met Dave the broodish guitar player in book one and not gonna lie he was a douche of epic proportions in that book. All we knew going in is that he was a manwhore with a teenage daughter from a one night stand. At the opening of this book it seems not much has changed in that regard, but then he gets a phone call that changes everything and he is thrust into a world he knows nothing about. Sylvia has always loved David but it has been made quite clear through endless heartbreaks and colossal mistakes on his part that those feelings are not returned so when the unthinkable happens and he is finally around to be a father to their daughter she is surprised to see not all is what it seems. These two have a whole load of past resentment and preconceived notions to battle through not to mention finally getting to actually know one another after 15 years in order for them to finally get their relationship on the right track and it was an amazing story to read from start to finish. Dave finally realizes that the good dad label he gave himself definitely wasn’t earned and the hurt he caused Sylvia certainly has some lasting impacts he is going to have to heal before she can ever let herself fully trust him again. Meanwhile Sylvia needs to let the past of unrequited love and disappointment go in order to finally understand David and realize that what she thought was love all these years was just a fantasy. Mistakes were made before and are made again as these to learn who each other are and finally get their long awaited chance to be a real family with their daughter. This really was a fabulous read and was such a realistic take on how sometimes timing in life is everything. This hea is heard fought and truly earned and it was great to read! Can’t wait for the next book in the series!
