The emotional response I had to this book had me aching for days. I cannot recommend this book enough!
If I could give this more stars I would, an absolute joy of a book to read, two broken people from the opposite end of the scale in a story that blew me away.
This author is a new one for me, it will most definitely not be my last, I have read other reviews and while everyone is entitled to an opinion, Some claiming it was a bad book, <<>> It most certainly isn’t. Trying to give a review on a book with out spoilers isn’t possible and as this was released a few months back I won’t hold back.
First we have Lennon ( didn’t love her name sorry) and we have my beautiful BROKEN RYKER, The book is unique in a way that I found compelling and all though it was told from both sides POV, I truly wept at Ryker’s telling of his life thus far, I also think he had a touch of Autism and Asperger’s, along with living a nightmare for the first 18 years of his life, they say that God will find away, I believe he did, he sent him Lennon on the very day, he had had enough, and if it was not for that intervention, we wouldn’t have this beautiful book.
#STALKER Yes but only so his beloved Sunshine never came to any harm, was it creepy I suppose, but such a man I would like for my own daughter, she was his beginning middle and end, He didn’t become a human until that first day in High School. Society in general now is just down right cruel, they preach about equal rights for everyone regardless of gender color or race, but god help you if you have a few mental problems, or funny colored eyes.
Back to the book if you haven’t read it why not?, it is a sickly sweet and a hold yourself up to the mirror kind of book, how we judge can literally destroy a person regardless if you are male or female, bricks and stones make break my bones, my names WILL DESTROY ME, they fester and grow and become a living breathing entity in your mind, been there my self from a child it takes a lot for me to be comfortable around people I am very much a loner, which is why this story struck to the heart of me the uniqueness of the book and the fact that it was Ryker’s life, and bless him that was so harsh, I wanted to crawl into the book find his parents and any one else who had made him this shadow, and punish them for destroying such a beautiful person. Then we have Lennon, his beautiful sunshine was smothered to the point of suffocation by her parents, the romance between them was wonderful, the internal dialogue in Ryker’s thoughts was lovely, he grew and blossomed into what he should have been all along. #SPOILER#~ The scene with them and her parents my heart literally burst for RYKER, truly crying. When she found him with his hoodie back on and just collapsed against the walk, my tears ran like a tap, Harloe Rae, you pulled out my heart mashed it up, put it back in again full off love for this MAN RYKER
I want a book 2 please Harloe Rae, I need these two people in my life, I want him to become a dad, PLEASE.
I CAN NOT PRAISE THIS BOOK ENOUGH ONE OF MY FAVORITES OF THE YEAR
———————————
“Two Broken Halves” That pretty much sums up the two main characters. One feels compassion, sadness, love and a feeling of impending danger at times. Two strong characters who make themselves who they become as adults and are both bullied as children and teens. I would not have been ok with the stalking but it is fiction and Ryker had a good intent. Did not want to put the book down and Ms. Rae was another new author for me, so this is a plus. Can’t wait to read the next book.
Absolutely loved this story. Harloe Rae has the unmistakable power to suck you and and connect with the characters in the book and never want to leave. Poor Ryker has had a horrible upbringing. His parents should be punished and all the bullying and taunts just because he was bigger than others or had different eyes(which honestly sounded gorgeous). And Lennon on the other end of the spectrum was so shy and stifled at home to ‘protect her’ by her parents she never actually lived. Both had huge crushes on each other but never said a word out of fear. Once you get past the stalking. Yes it’s weird but it’s not out of a malicious intent. He truly just wants her to be happy and safe. And has done everything In his power to make her dreams come true and make her smile. Loved them together experiencing all their first with each other. So adorable and hot. Loved this story. Her parents were horrible. Just wish there was some resolution there. Like after some time they realized how horrible they were and try to fix things with both Lennon and Ry. One of my favorite stories.
I don’t know why, but I have had the hardest time with the last couple of Harloe’s books. I couldn’t finish the last two and I’m not sure if it was the writing or the actors she chose for the books. She also makes her female character either very “Pollyanna” or helpless, which can be very aggravating at times.
This was sort of a sweet story and what I mean by that is it is a little creepy. It’s hard to believe any woman would be that okay receiving gifts from someone she doesn’t know and also not minding a stalker. I did push through this book though, and it has a happier ending despite the fact these two characters had horrible childhoods. It’s just that one looked on the brighter side of things and the other became bitter.
I was sent an ARC of Watch Me Follow by Harloe Rae and, “Wow!”. This book left me craving; my whole body, soul, and mind craving for this!
Sexy obsession-filled Ryker is waiting, watching, and wanting Lennon as years worth of anxiety, depression, and anger weigh upon his broad shoulders.
Lennon is also an introvert with her own internal demons she must slay if she is to be able to fulfill her wants and desires in life.
Two different souls, but alike in many ways. Will fate bring them together? Will Ryker’s unwavering desire to protect Lennon be his undoing? Is it all just a figment of his imagination? Can she love a flawed man? Can he keep the blackness from consuming him again?
These I cannot say, but I highly recommend this book. Steamy, dark, sensual; this was definitely a page turner as one can fantasize it happening to one self, but it also has quite a beautiful edge to it. How the author, Harloe Rae, intertwined Ryker and Lennon’s fates with their differing learning capabilities was truly touching. Yes, besides being a romance, it gave a learning aspect, a window to see through, as you watch how hard life can truly be.
This book is everything.
I am so in love with Ryker and Lennon’s love.
Ryker is so pure, innocent and amazing and the way he loves Lennon will make your heart swell in your chest by 3 sizes.
This is now officially my favorite Harloe book and the one to top.
5 million stars and a yellow sticky note.
Harloe you wrote a beautiful 5star read! Watch Me Follow was a beautiful, and heartbreaking love story! Absolutely adore Ryker l felt his pain! Loved all the first’s Lennon & Ryker shared! These two are made for one another, they understand each other! Perfect ending!
Wow. Raw, broken emotions. There is an incredible amount of intensity in this book. A love story of two damaged people that ends in a beautiful happy ever after. A great read and I’m excited to see more of Harloe and her stories.
Surprise! Queen B loves stalkers.
Watch Me Follow hit so many high points for me:
-obsessive stalker
-instalove
-damaged and abusive past
-possessive and protective
Ryker was sweet and crazy, but Lennon was crazy too. Enjoyed the dual point of view (especially enjoyed being inside Ryker’s head). Watch Me Follow was almost sugary sweet, just the way I like it.

‘What is it about him? I barely know this man aside from his beautifully written words and his peculiar habit of following me, but I’d skip out on my perfectly planned routine for him’
Ryker has always been made fun of and never accepted his whole life and so he took his place as the silent freak in high school. All this changes when he see’s Lennon for the first time, it’s the first time he wouldn’t mind someone really seeing him. When Lennon is in danger he steps in to defend her without thought, from that moment he knows he would do anything for her. So normally you would think a book about a stalker would be creepy however there is just something about Ryker that you can’t help but love. His intentions are pure however his execution is a bit misplaced.
Lennon was raised in a very strict upbringing and often moving which is why she ends up in Ryker’s school on their senior year. Do to her upbringing she is very naive in many ways from talking to boys and doing normal teenage/college activities. This also leaves her very trusting when she maybe shouldn’t be. Lennon lives with her friend Lucy who is not sheltered at all and is always trying to get Lennon to branch out and date.
When Lennon starts to really notice someone watching her she is more intrigued than scared especially since she has been enjoying the gifts left for her by a secret admirer. When Ryker finally reveals himself to Lennon she is immediately relieved and confused because she thought Ryker had no interest in her at all after ignoring her for the rest of senior year in high school and now 4 years later he is everywhere.
I had a really hard time relating to Lennon her naivety and trusting nature when it came to Ryker. Giving that she only spoke to him once 4 years earlier she is very understanding of the fact he has been following her and doing things without her knowledge. Trust me I loved Ryker and understood why he did what he did but she didn’t know the half of it before she was readily accepting it. You spend a lot of time in Ryker’s head and it really makes you feel for him. I really think I would have loved this book if Lennon was a stronger female lead, to me she was always apologetic for having emotions outside of love for Ryker because it would make him upset. I would have expected Lennon to make Ryker prove to her that he was trustworthy before she blindly put her total trust in him.
All in all I think it was a good book especially since Harloe Rae is wonderful with words and is able to beautifully describe the thoughts, emotions and environments with such great detail that it is a pleasure to read her books.
Watch Me Follow by Harloe Rae is the story of Ryker and Lennon.
Ryker is a big strong almost 18 year old that is bulled in school and at home. So much so that he feels alone and worthless. Then one day Lennon a new student walks into his class and his self destructive attitude changes slightly. Ryker knows that she is his Sunshine and that he must protect her after another student gets physical with her. From that day forward that is all Ryker wants to do is live in the shadows looking after and protecting her.
Now around four years later with Lennon at College she knows that someone watches her and also leaves her things like food or a note. Others would be scared but Lennon feels protected and when she starts to spy the Seeker that is watching her she confronts him and learns it is Ryker.
Ryker and Lennon both would appear odd to the world but together they know they are anything but that….they fit together make each whole.
This sound like a Dark Romance but I thought it was the opposite…it was really a sweet story.
To say that I am in love with Ryker and Lennon’s story would be an understatement. This store is unique, saddening, twisted, and uplifting all at once. Rae does an amazing job yet again of being the evoking unexpected emotions out of us as readers as we go on this journey of love and self-discovery with her characters.
Ryker has always loved Lennon, but here believed he was good enough for her. He has always been the one to hide in the shadows, so why should he be allowed to love Lennon in the light. He chooses to follow and protect her for the rest of his life after an incident in high school, but one day he is no longer allowed to hide any longer.
Lennon seems to be sunshine personified, but everything is not as it seems on the outside. She has always felt like there is something watching over her. Making sure she is safe and always watching over her, but one day she decided that she is going to take matters into her own hand to find out who her “Seek” is. Surprisingly she is not afraid, but genuinely relieved and excited at the prospect of finally finding the one she has been waiting for.
This is not a sweet normal romance story- this story is full of dark, sad, twisted moments that will pull at your heart. Lennon and Ryker’s stories are not for the faint of heart, but beautiful in its own special way. Without giving too much away, the way this two fall in love is not typical by social mean, but it is perfect for the two social outcast that has been searching for their place in the world. Neither of these two characters has had it easy in life, but falling in love with each other is possibly the easy thing for them to do.
Definitely good, definitely different, in a sense the story is kind of like a second chance for love between Ryker and Lennon in a twisted way, they both are so broken and always carried secret feelings for each other that Ryker stalking makes sense in this story. It really is a great read and you can’t help but falling for this couple.
This is one of those books that makes me question the mental health of today’s young people. I’m sorry, but no one in real life EVER falls in love with and marries the guy who stalked her and chased away all of her dates for 4 years. Never. In fact, I’d go on to further assert that women who don’t call the police on their crazy stalkers and get immediate restraining orders are 100% more likely to end up as a woman suit in some sicko’s basement than women who do the sensible thing.
Now, folks, I know what you’re going to say. “But Jennifer, you loved Mercy and the hero in that book was a stalker.” It’s true. I did love Mercy. And the hero did “watch over” the heroine for years because he felt she was in genuine danger and he wanted to protect her. But he DIDN’T follow her everywhere she went from the time she woke up until the time she went to sleep. He DIDN’T stand outside her home and peep in the windows. He DIDN’T monitor which websites she visited so that he’d know what to buy her when he creepily left expensive gifts on her doorstep. He DIDN’T hack into her credit cards. He DIDN’T chase off potential dates because he was jealous of them, even though he’d never directly spoken to her. That’s all stuff that Ryker in Watch Me Follow did, and while Lennon, the heroine, found it endearing and adorable, I found it all kinds of intrusive, creepy, and sick.
There were other issues that really bugged me, too:
1. Lennon is terribly naive and often found herself the target of aggressive men. I wanted her to take a Krav Maga class and learn to defend herself or something, but she never did. Taking care of herself and staying safe weren’t very high up on Lennon’s to-do list, sadly.
2. I’m OK with a hero who has insecurities and emotional issues, but Ryker’s issues were crippling. I got the idea that at some point in the future, Ryker and Lennon would have a disagreement over how the dishwasher was loaded and Ryker would run away, wailing about how he screws everything up and doesn’t deserve to live, and then he’d end up hanging himself with his belt in the attic or something. If there was ever a dude who needed to get himself into counseling ASAP it was Ryker.
3. Lennon and Ryker “fell in love” super quickly, even though they’d really only had a handful of conversations. (And no, I don’t consider all the years that Ryker stalked Lennon as time spent “getting to know her.”)
4. Reading about these two naive virgins figuring sex out was super painful and all kinds of awkward. I cringed while reading. I don’t like man whore heroes, but Jesus, I wish one of these two had had at least a little sexual experience so that I didn’t feel embarrassed for them while reading about their fumbling.
5. The whole drama with Lennon’s parents was unnecessary. Who disapproves of someone that quickly, and only because he’s large in stature? It was way too OTT for my liking.
Long-story-short, this one didn’t work for me at all, even though the writing itself was pretty good. I just hated the heroine for not calling the cops on the hero, and I wanted the hero to get into therapy and STAY THERE for a very, very long time. But I guess then you couldn’t have classified the book as romance, huh?

Watch me follow…..
Well I found another author I will be stalking shortly!
This story of Ryker and Lennon is not your typical romance. It’s a bit dark and a bit twisty, but for people like me, it’s perfection!
Lennon is trying to be independent, trying to fit in, but she knows she’s a bit of an oddball and she learns to embrace it.
Ryker, oh my me, I wish I had a Ryker! From his horrible upbringing, he still became a brilliant man. A vulnerable, fragile but amazing man. And his love for Lennon is extraordinary!
Their love story is not normal, it’s crazy, it’s obsessive and it’s magnificent. Like one of my favorite movie quotes “Normal is setting on a dryer” this love story is different, its a bit odd and that makes it even more special! Who wants to be normal if it means never experiencing a love like Lennon and Ryker.
I can’t wait to read more! Thank you for your words and thank you for bringing us into your characters world!
Ryker & Lennon, his Sunshine, are beautiful! This story is AMAZING and wonderful and I highly enjoyed it! I loved how these two souls come together. I loved that it’s dual POV so we get to know the inner workings and motivations and feelings of each. I loved the way their similarities are written. I loved the way they loved!
This is going on my favorites/re-read shelf, and I highly recommend it! I’m so happy I randomly came across a post about it on FB! Now I’m off to find some more stories by this author! : )
O.o just wow!
This was definitely not what I was expecting at all, but in an all to good way.
One I didn’t expect it to jump to college and for Lennon to not have connections with Ryker and vise versa, but I liked the build up to everything.
Two, I new it was a stalker book just not a “true” stalker book! If that makes sense at all? But, I was totally and completely into it. And I got where both characters seemed to be coming from.
I loved their connection! It was so strong and intimate.
Lennon & Ryker are absolutely adorable together. They have both had these lives where they don’t think they are worth all that much, but together they show each other they are worth it all.
One of the Best Love Stories I’ve read must read
‘Why can’t I be normal? Can she love a flawed man? I’ll never deserve her perfection.”
Quirky, sweet, and beautifully written. I had a little trouble connecting at times, but I think that was me, so don’t let the four stars fool you. I could have probably highlighted most of the book and if I had a penny for each time I smiled at these two, I could buy everyone a copy to read for themselves. I loved how these characters were different, and unlike any I’ve read before. I loved that their differences complemented each other, and fell in love with Ryker completely. I thank the Author for providing a copy to review!!
“He’s breathtaking and strong and …standing so close I can almost touch him. Ryker is effing stunning, like break-the-rating-scale type of hottie.”
