Life hasn’t been kind to Harper Evans. The small-town gossip about her dead dad and drug-addicted mother has taken its toll. But when her mother is admitted to a long-term rehab facility a few hours away, Harper sees her chance for a fresh start. A shoebox apartment above a Chinese restaurant isn’t exactly the escape she dreamed of, but she makes it work. With limited funds and social life, she … social life, she views her new city through a dusty old pair of binoculars.
There’s no harm in looking.
Just a peek and I’ll stop.
Harper finds her new pastime quickly turning into a full-fledged obsession. She begins falling for a man she doesn’t know—has never met—as she watches him have sex through the window of his apartment. Daydreaming about what it would be like if she were one of his conquests.
We all reach a point when watching isn’t enough—when we can no longer just be a spectator in our own life. That’s when it’s supposed to get good, right? When we take control and go after what we want. But what happens when it all blows up in our face and we’re left with less than nothing?
What then?

This is the first book I’ve read from these two authors and WOW!! I have never read a book with this type of intriguing story line. I thought at first I would have trouble with it, but I was definitely wrong!! Both of these characters had very sad and tragic backgrounds that will make you cry. You feel the heartbreak through the words of this book that are expertly written. Mr. Chan is an amazing character and you will have you laughing and loving him. This book is a must read!!
This book was a lot more deep than I first thought it would be. I thought it would be purely about the her watching him and the attraction. It was much more. The struggle of Having a family member with addiction, loving someone with addiction and wanting someone you can’t have. Keep my interest all the way through.
If I could give this book more than 5 stars I totally would! I loved this book soooo much. It kept you engaged from the beginning making you want more! I couldn’t put it down. – Tisha
Mesmerizing. Intense. Hot. Deep. Emotional. This book will hook from the very first page. You will not be able to put it down. You will also be stopping at the store to buy ice cream. You will also want to eat Chinese food. This book is very different from the typical Jiffy Kate book. It has sweet elements as well with how Mr. Chan looks out for Harper. How he treats Luke. Such a fantastic book! – Stefanie
There are not enough words to describe the awesomeness of this book. I had to purchase this. I absolutely loved this book. It was right on time for me. I read so fast. I couldn’t stop. I love the epilogue it was just awesome. It was my first book by these authors, I met them at an author event so I was nervous about my first read. I can’t understand why I had any apprehension. The writing of this story left me wanting for more. So I headed to Amazon to one-click everything else they wrote.
Ok, this story hit you in your feels. I loved that the characters felt real. I totally related to Harper. Then when it switched to Luke’s POV……. Oooh…. just ooooh. I don’t want to go into any details. I’m better at talking my feelings.
I don’t know why you ladies started writing but this… this…. this…. book right here must have been the reason. Thank you for writing this. I will probably reread this several times. I also gifted some copies to people I know.
A mighty web they weave! Watch and See had me captivated from page one, causing me to stay up until 4am so I could read the entire book.
There’s SO many variables in this story: a mother forced into rehab who blames her daughter for her own addiction, a tender-hearted grandfather-figure who looks out for her, plus her own struggle of overcoming her past and finding happiness.
All the feels in this book and it’s one that everyone should read. It makes you think about how much blame we put on ourselves for things that are out of our control. I loved this story and will definitely be reading it again soon!
This was a really good and unsuspecting story. Both characters face struggles and circumstances that just leave you wondering what’s going to happen next. Harper and Luke are much more complex characters than you first think. They’re journey is filled with emotion and heart and fun.
There are supporting characters that help make this story a winner as well. This just turned in to one of those ‘more than meets the eye’ kinda reads.
This book sucked me in and wouldn’t let me go. I mean I was infested into this book that I found myself feeling so much pain and sadness for Harper. She has been dealt a crappy life and it just continues to get worse and worse. Her mom is a piece of work that’s for sure. Harper is a little odd but it works. She has a group of friends who supports and loves her. They push to get out more and not being held up in her tiny apartment. This is where she has the most enjoyment. She’s spying on a guy every night. He seems to have it all together. The truth is anything but that. Enter Luke.. He seems to have the life that everyone would love to have but it isn’t like that. He has also been dealt a crappy life. These two seem to hit it off very well. Luke has her best interest at heart. He’s trying to help mom out and help the healing happen. This book will tug at your heart in so many ways. Harper despite all this has some strength and willingness to make her self better. This I admire. She has a part of my heart, that’s for sure. Luke has a part this as well. He is such a sweetheart. He’s the type of guy we all want in our lives. He may have handled things the wrong way but he had his eyes opened and changed his way of thinking. He knew what he wanted and went out and got it. He was there when Harper needed him the most and even wesealed himself in with Mr. Chan.. it took many hot sauces in his soups before it happened but he did it. I seriously loved this book despite how many times I cried especially towards the end. I laughed, swooned and like I said before I cried so hard. This book was so freakin good!! be reading more from this author, that’s for sure!!!
This is my first book by Jeffy Kate and I was so surprised by it that I want to dive right into another one! I thought with the name Watch and See I would be reading a story about voyeurism and some dirty sex, but instead what I got was an emotional story.
Harper is a young woman trying to live on her own and deal with her drug addict mother that is now in a 6-month program. Harper has such a big heart that even though her mother treats her like crap she still goes every Saturday and visits. But Harper does have one little secret. She watches a man across the way have sex in his living room. He has no idea that Harper is looking on, and he doesn’t care that anyone is looking on.
Luke has his own issues, this is why he has sex with women in his living room. He never takes them to his bedroom and never closes the blinds. He doesn’t care if people can see, not that he pays any attention. But when Harper walks in for a family counseling session with her mother he finds he wants to get to know her. He has no idea that she already knows him.
These two have a friendly relationship until he finds out. I loved how each character takes a step back then comes together again.
I loved all of these characters and Mr. Chan is wonderful!
Jiffy Kate is starting to become another Top Favorite Author for me with her World of Words! WATCH ANS SEE had me at the Very Beginning of the Book and never let me go!! I got tangled in a world seen through Binoculars and devour it in ONE Sitting!! Harper and Luke’s story tells of a Heartwreching and Emotionally journey that will Squeeze your Heart & Soul!
The first part of this book made me so uncomfortable with the need for Harper watching the naughty guy in the window. Her blunt admissions made me squirm even more to the point where I wasn’t sure if I could continue reading, but I did. There was more to Harper and there was so much to learn about window man, Luke. It was a little strange to me, but I enjoyed reading about how Harper and Luke used each other and their experiences to better their lives. I also loved Mr. Chan and the rest of Harper’s friends.
This book started out as the tale of a voyeur and the man she was obsessed with watching, but then it became so much more. Harper’s story ran me through the wringer! My heart hurt with her every time her mother couldn’t give her what she needed; and I despaired with her over her situation with Luke. The bright spots in Harper’s world during that time were her friendships with two crazy, funny, and loyal women, and with her landlord Mr. Chan.
This book is full of feelings of devastation, loneliness, and betrayal. It’s also full of hope, love, and humor. I was happy with the very slow path to happiness, because I felt it was necessary for Harper and Luke to each focus on themselves first, before trying to forge a romantic relationship. I felt like I knew them and was proud to watch them grow and become stronger.
The writing here was strong, and the story was excellent. I’ve never read anything from this author duo before, but I will certainly look for more from them. This book is one I highly recommend.
I don’t know why I waited so long to read this book. I shouldn’t have waited.
This book was very interesting to read and very very good. This was the first book I have read by Jiffy Kate. I don’t live in an area where you could watch and look into peoples windows, at least not like Harper does in Watch and See. After reading this at one point I wished I had the option.
Living above a Chinese food restaurant is not where Harper saw herself living but it is where she is at. She found some binoculars when she moved in and when she looked through them she discovered a man who like to use the huge window in his apartment for all of his “dates” if you will.
Harper becomes obsessed with watching him, and then she meets him…..
Im not going to say anymore, because I don’t want to give anything away. There are the usual complications and all of that, but it isn’t like been there read that.
My first read from this author and I fell completely in love. I started off thinking the book would be more of wham bam but it was so much more than that. There was a slow build up to Harper and Luke’s relationship that was refreshing. They didn’t start off heavy and then break up because of their issues, just to get back together. There was more depth to their relationship and they worked on their personal issues inorder for both of them to be in a healthy relationship with each other. The epilogue from Mr. Chan was everything. I may have teared up a little. Will definitely be checking out more from this author.
For me, this was a hard book to get into, I started and stopped 2 or 3 times. The first few chapters didn’t grab me although I though the premise was intriguing. When I finally buckled down and went for it, I loved Harper, her quirks, her growth, her tenacity, just an interesting character. Luke, on the other hand, I didn’t like until towards the end of the book. For someone in his line of work and education, he was surprisingly cruel and selfish. Not what you expect from a H. Overall, an OK read.
Wow def a crazy story but omg loved it! A girl watches a hot guy and she finds out it’s her moms psychologist ugh oh! So what happens when they want to talk!
This is a great book! Harper is a librarian living in a small room above a Chinese place while her mother is going through rehab. Bored she uses binoculars left from a previous resident she becomes a voyeur. Her target is a man who takes women against his living room window for all the world to see. He has different women several nights a week and he becomes her obsession. She goes in for the family therapy part of her mother’s rehab and guess who her therapist is…yep, Luke, her obsession. The heat level is super hot and there will be tears. I ugly cried a few times and absolutely loved the book!
This book had so many potential ick factors it could have been a disaster. Voyeurism with some light staking? Therapist seeing patients daughter? Borderline sex addiction with exhibitionist tendencies? All these taboos are up for grabs in this book. But you know what? It totally works. You don’t feel uncomfortable or creeped out. You are rooting for the HEA. Luke makes a perfectly imperfect hero while Harper is a really well written everyday woman. That’s not an insult. In fact I mean it as a compliment as often women written in books have the dream job, the perfect figure and hair that always sits just right. Harper has a messed up mother, lives in what is practically a cupboard and is floundering in life.
I really enjoyed this book. Well worth a read
“Watch and See” left me speechless. It is one of those books that makes you think long after you turn the last page. But above all, it’s a book that makes you feel and stays with you. It would be unfair to write what the book is about, because it’s a must read. And the best way to enjoy it is by going dark into it. No spoilers, no expectations, just a date with an unforgettable book.
Writing duo Jiffy Kate said “Watch and See” was different from what they have published so far. I’ve read every single book in their Finding Focus series. By now, they have mastered the art of making you laugh and swoon you with their characters. They are the queens of plot twists.
But “Watch and See” takes their writing to the next level. A story with intriguing and complex characters, filled with raw emotions and intricate situations that will make you read the book in one sitting.
Watch and See was an emotionally griping read about lust, pain and love. It’s so much more than what I was expecting! Grab some Ice Cream and take a seat! You are in for a steamy read that will have you biting your fingernails one minute and crying into a tissue the next! I loved it! You will experience a high, watching this stranger have sex through the window was new one for me! My heart pounded so loud, I’m sure the neighbors could hear it! I was terrified just waiting for him to catch her watching him! Ekk! I was so unprepared for their face to face meet. It was both wonderful and horrible. Harper is an amazing character that makes me proud for all she has accomplished on her own. My heart bled for her. I just wanted to reach into the pages and hug her, tell her everything is going to be okay. She is extremely tough. Loving an addict is not for the faint of heart. It takes a remarkable person to stay around and support that loved one. That’s what this book it’s Remarkable, eye opening! It sheds light on addiction and the ugly truth that comes with it. Very intense and realistic, I was very emotional throughout the book. Harper and Luke hit me hard in the feels! I will remember their story for days to come. A deliciously slow burn with a meant to be love story! Ahh!! Jiffy Kate you have completely seized my heat with this Amazing story! And let me just add, the Mr. Chan epilogue was everything!!!
I’m familiar with the author team of Jiffy Kate, mainly thanks to my involvement with Enchanted Publications. Earlier this year, I read ‘The Other One’ while traveling cross-country and was won over by the southern charm of the authors and the sweetness of the novel. So, when I had the opportunity to read their new release, I eagerly said yes.
Watch and See was not the novel I was expecting from Jiffy Kate. In one simple sentence, this was the sexiest book I’d read in some time. I devoured this story, reading it in practically one sitting. I found myself sucked in by the first page and I was sad to reach the end. Watch and See is one of those books I wished would just keep on going. And going. And going.
The plot centers on Harper Evans, a young woman who is just barely making ends meet. She has put her life on hold to offer moral support to her mother, who is battling drug addiction and has checked into a rehabilitation center. In order to be close to her mom, Harper rents a small apartment above a Chinese restaurant, where she discovers an abandoned pair of binoculars.
With little money to spend and even less to keep her occupied while she spends her nights alone, Harper decides to take in the view of her city surroundings through the old pair of lenses. When Harper discovers the gorgeous man living in a nearby apartment, having sex with different women in front of his own window, her new hobby turns into an erotic obsession. When Harper can’t stop thinking about the mysterious and passionate stranger, she attempts to convert her deepest fantasy into a full-fledged reality.
This is the point where Watch and See could have traveled down a predictable path, but instead the book is respectful of both its characters and the audience observing them. The story takes an enthralling turn that had me experiencing every possible emotion – excitement, shame, happiness, anger, love, and sadness. This is the perfect novel if you’re in the mood for something a bit taboo – think of Rear Window, with more sex and less murder. And please trust me when I say you’ll never look at a pair of sweat pants in quite the same way again.
Without a doubt, Watch and See is a strong contender for my Top Read of 2018. Five enthusiastic and smoldering stars!
