Life hasn’t been kind to Harper Evans. The small-town gossip about her dead dad and drug-addicted mother has taken its toll. But when her mother is admitted to a long-term rehab facility a few hours away, Harper sees her chance for a fresh start. A shoebox apartment above a Chinese restaurant isn’t exactly the escape she dreamed of, but she makes it work. With limited funds and social life, she … social life, she views her new city through a dusty old pair of binoculars.
There’s no harm in looking.
Just a peek and I’ll stop.
Harper finds her new pastime quickly turning into a full-fledged obsession. She begins falling for a man she doesn’t know—has never met—as she watches him have sex through the window of his apartment. Daydreaming about what it would be like if she were one of his conquests.
We all reach a point when watching isn’t enough—when we can no longer just be a spectator in our own life. That’s when it’s supposed to get good, right? When we take control and go after what we want. But what happens when it all blows up in our face and we’re left with less than nothing?
What then?

If you are looking for a purely sexy book, this is not that. There’s some pretty good stuff at the beginning of the book, which is fun, but it fairly quickly goes dark. It becomes more of a character study/romance that explains why these characters exhibit the symptoms of voyeurism and exhibitionism.
Some reviewers have said that there wasn’t enough description to explain why Luke would be attracted to Harper. I don’t know if that is purposeful by the authors, but in any event I think it worked in this story. It allowed me to fill in the blanks and become that character to a degree. For me, that helped me to immerse myself into the intensity of the story.
Why was Luke attracted to Harper? It wasn’t instalove, but more like two souls searching the universe for each other, and when they finally get together it was like coming home—comforting, soothing and satisfying. They tried to stay away from each other because at the time it was the right thing to do, but there was an irresistible pull. So this was a reeeeally slow burn. I wasn’t even sure there was going to be an HEA for most of the story. I didn’t even see a way that could be possible.
So bottom line, if you want a romance that is a little different from most, with tons of angst and rawness, and exceptionally sympathetic, complex and lovable characters, try this one. I loved it.
This is a new author(s) to me and not really sure how I feel about this book.
It just was not interesting to me. The first few chapters I thought were good (creepy, but good), but just never really got invested in this story or the characters. I never felt the connection between Harper and Luke and I just didn’t understand their relationship. Maybe it was just me… others may really like this story. My favorite parts…scenes with Mr. Chan. He made the book more enjoyable.
An original story line that builds into a great story. The unconventional relationship between a voyeur and the object of her affection that kept me reading to find out the ending. Though slightly dysfunctional, I think everything worked out as it should have. A great read!!
What a Surprise!
The co-writing team of Jiffy Kate are AMAZING!
On a whim I downloaded “Watch and See” from a giveaway. I wasn’t sure what I was going to find in the pages. At best I was hoping for a lighthearted fun read. At worst a poorly written plot and mostly sex scenes.
What I did find … BLEW ME AWAY.
Watch and See is a touchy-feely, heart-wrenching, in depth story about two people who have suffered and survived much and eventually find the happiness they long for in each other.
I could not put this book down.
I highly recommend “Watch and See” to be added to the top of your TBR stack.
Loved it! Happy Reading:-D
Harper has had a hard life. She’s lost her dad and her mom is a junkie that she can’t let go. She’s alone and living in a room that has nothing but a big window. She looks out of her window with a pair of binoculars and sees a big man doing things with women in front of the window. She wants to be in that window. She goes to family therapy for her mom and the man in the window is her mom’s therapist, Luke. They can’t have a relationship since he is her mom’s therapist, but they start a small friendship, but secrets come out they can’t be anything anymore and it tears them apart. So much hurt and suffering for both Harper and Luke but slowly they come back together and begin something. It’s a great book. Grab me from the beginning.
This is my first book by Jiffy Kate. Wow is all i can say. Man this book grabs you and makes you not want to put it down. It blew me away. Harper is so sweet. She doesn’t have a lot of family. She has an obsession to where it takes over her life. But once things infold she takes her life back. I loved Mr. Chan. He’s like her personal angel that looks over her. Loved it.
This is an enjoyable, easy read which i found lacked a little in action but none the less is a sweet read. From the opening pages your drawn into Harper’s world and you just want to open your arms and be the mother to her she has never had. Luke however, is more of a closed book and you don’t find out much about him until very late on in the book. As I got to know Harper better, I found had a real mix of emotions which went from being so sad for her, to wanting to shout at her for being a “crazy stalker”. With Luke my feelings were a lot different, I really wasn’t very fond of him and felt he was just one of those womanizers who fancy themselves. Once I got past that these initial feelings, I had the over whelming urge to protect Harper, but by then I wanted to shout at Luke and felt his behaviour with Harper during those few meetings went way beyond what anyone in his profession would deem even slightly acceptable. What happens from there on in you will have to read for yourself, but be prepared feel the range feelings from love right through to hate.
Loved this story. Such great storylines. Love can make it through anything. Even a peeping tom. But telling your truths and fighting your demons can prove all can be obtained.
Watch and See had me sitting on the edge of my seat and chewing off my fingernails while wanting to scream I cannot believe that just happened.
4½ stars!
This book was definitely not my typical read. I knew that it was going to take me out of my comfort zone and that was alright. I’m so glad that I took the chance on this book because it was so good.
Harper had to move to the city because her mom was put in rehab all she done was work and come home to her shoebox apt above a restaurant. She found a pair of binoculars one day and saw a man have s*x at his window, it turned her into a voyeur. She proceeds to watch him, this guy is smoking hot and has a different woman most nights. Obviously Harper wants him but never thinks she has the chance to meet him. One day she goes into a family therapy session with her mom and guess who the therapist is…. None other than Mr. Window Fu*ker himself Luke!
After this things become really exciting!
And it’s kind of emotional.
But it’s a really good book and I think everyone should try it.
Whoa, what did I just read? A stalker book, a romance, both? Yes. This book is a crazy ride from an innocent “what did I just see the neighbor doing?” to full blow to “stalking the guy and watching him every night” to wanting him for own. The blurb sounded interesting and I starting reading, partially in I wondered about Harper fixture on watching Luke with his “dates” but as the story involved and their paths crossed I felt better about her desire for Nick. Nick is Harper’s mother’s therapist and expresses interest in her until she comes clean about watching him in his apartment. The story progresses from there with each of them working toward being whole people on their own and gradually dating each other. an interesting take on a romance that I found endearing at the end. Worth the read.
I wasn’t sure what to expect going into this book, but I was somewhat disappointed. I get that it’s a story about bored, obsessed voyeuristic Harper and her infatuation with Luke, but I couldn’t find myself caring too much about them getting any semblance of HEA. Luke was your typical damaged manwhore and his cruel way of dismissing Harper was something that he couldn’t come back from for me. Granted, Harper was obsessed before ever actually meeting him, and when they finally DID meet, it certainly wasn’t the ideal circumstance, but Luke was nasty and callous just to try to break someone else after really getting to know her. Sure, he claimed that he wasn’t good enough for Harper and justified to himself that he did it for her, blah blah, but he was cruel just to be cruel, and that wasn’t okay at all. Harper sort of made Luke work for forgiveness, but it was taken a a foregone conclusion that she would simply roll over and forgive, which made everything far too predictable to me.
Overall, this story was okay, but that’s about it. Okay. Somewhat bland. Somewhat boring. It could’ve been better.
Mesmerizing. Intense. Hot. Deep. Emotional. This book will hook from the very first page. You will not be able to put it down. You will also be stopping at the store to buy ice cream. You will also want to eat Chinese food. This book is very different from the typical Jiffy Kate book. It has sweet elements as well with how Mr. Chan looks out for Harper. How he treats Luke. Such a fantastic book!
Wow….I don’t think I’ve ever read a book quiet like this. There were so many emotions I can’t even describe them all. At 30% I thought the book was going to be over, but it just began. I love how the beginning of the book was mainly just thoughts, no talking. Which I don’t normally like but it felt so right in this book. I highly recommend reading this book!!!
