Twice-widowed Jane Marsh ties the knot for the third time with longstanding fiancé Dale Capricorn. Jane’s ready for a celebratory reception at her uber-trendy condo in downtown Denver with champagne toasts, fancy dress, and her family and dinner club friends. Everyone knows she and Dale’s prettier and younger ex-wife Polly are “frenemies,” but Jane starts fresh and asks Polly to cater the event. … event. However, after the last guest leaves, Jane discovers the ex-wife dead—and Jane’s the obvious suspect. If Jane doesn’t find the real killer, her third marriage certainly won’t be the charm.

Totally enjoyed the whole series and this was a great final book. I will miss Jane & the whole gang, but so glad to have gotten to know them and share in their adventures.
Twice widowed Jane Marsh has just married her boyfriend, Dale Capricorn in a small ceremony. They are having a reception in their new condo in the city. Jane has asked Dale’s pretty, young ex-wife Polly to cater the event. Everyone thinks that Jane hates Polly because she is always finding a reason to call Dale to help her with something at the restaurant they co-own. Jane is more of a frenemy now. After everyone has left the party it is only Jane and Polly left to clean up. When Jane is done cleaning up she cannot find Polly. She finds her in their spare bedroom – dead. She is so shocked she doesn’t call the police right away.
The police arrive to investigate and Jane becomes their number one suspect. She is taken to the station for questioning and is held overnight. Jane is released the next morning and she and Dale obtain an attorney. Jane finds out that Polly was poisoned by the cheese dip that was sitting on the piano. Jane is puzzled as to why no one else got sick from the dip.
Jane meets her dinner club girlfriends Olivia, Cheryl and Libby to discuss the murder. They feel Vera Atterberry, Polly’s assistant who was fired at the party for smoking marijuana, is the leading suspect. They also think the chefs Ulric Klasson and Gordon Iverson should be questioned.
Florissa Nisbet, a jazz singer, who lives in Jane’s building, had attended the party and was seen in an argument with Polly and also shoved Polly.
Jane is later arrested for the murder of Polly and an ankle monitor is placed on her. Jane is desparately trying to find the killer to clear herself of the murder.
This is Book #7 in the Dinner Club Mystery series. It is a very well written mystery that keeps you guessing until the end. A must read!
Karen C. Whalen Wasted Thyme (The Dinner Club Murder Mysteries #7) Even though this book is #7 in this series I was able to jump right in without feeling lost. I loved all the twists and turns just when I thought I knew who did it there was a new clue showing me I was wrong. I also love the recipes included in each book. I highly recommend this book to anyone that loves a good cozy mystery.
Each book in this series is as entertaining and fun as the one before it! In this wonderful installment we have a wedding and a dead ex-wife, how could it possibly get any more suspect and crazy as that, because of course, who are you to suspect but the ex-spouse! Jane, our heroine, is the prime suspect in this nail-biter that will keep you guessing from the very beginning. The best thing about this series is that they can all be read as stand-alone so you don’t have to read the books before this to get into it and enjoy it! But…if you haven’t read any of the ones before, you will certainly want to after finishing this one, if for no other reason, for sheer entertainment besides getting a little bit of background. I am providing this review of my own volition after receiving an advance copy. Try it, you’ll love it!
Jane prepares for her third marriage with all the trimmings but finding the fiance’s dead ex-wife at the reception was not in the plan. Jane must find the killer or the marriage may be doomed. After receiving an ARC copy, I have given my honest review of this book.
Such a fun series!
Jane and all her friends are back again but this time, Jane is the number one suspect when she finds the body of Dale’s ex-wife at her reception to celebrate her recent marriage. Why did she sit with the body for two hours? Can it get any worse? Can she survive wearing an ankle monitor?
I received an ARC. This is my honest review.
I received a free advance review copy of this book and am voluntarily providing my honest review. Jane and Dale are in Western Colorado to make arrangements for their wedding at a winery. The owner of the winery is found murdered, but his wife is still willing to talk to them about their wedding, oh yeah, she is also running for mayor. In fact the day her husband is found dead, she is at a festival campaigning! There are a lot of twists and turns and this book will keep you guessing till the end. I recommend it.
Nice book and full of description of Colorado
I loved reading this book!
The twists and turns in the plot made for a real page turner!
I recommend that you snuggle up with a beverage of choice and enjoy a very good read!
