Known for moving first-person novels of Nannerl Mozart, Jane Austen, and Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Nancy Moser now brings to life the loves and trials of the first First Lady of the United States. When a dapper, young George Washington comes into her life, Martha Custis is a young widow with two young children. Their love and loyalty toward each other—and the new nation they fight for, lasts a … a lifetime and is an inspiration even now, after 250 years. Washington’s Lady was a Christy Awards finalist.

I love a good Historical Fiction, and this was a great one! Written with well researched historical background information. I learned so much about the life of Martha Washington and George. Well written, engaging, and a great read!
I learned a great deal about American history in this narrative of Martha Washington. Moser did an amazing job of bringing this character to life. To see this time period through the eyes of someone who not only lived it, but had a great influence on the decisions made, the commitment to freedom, and to her family, was truly an inspiration and blessing for me. I loved the book and certainly have gained a new perspective and insight on early America through Martha’s thoughts, feelings, actions, and undeniable faith in God. Kudos to Nancy Moser!
Although it is fictional it gives insight into the people of an historical time and the character and personality of our first lady. it is a good read.
I’m not usually a history buff, but I do love historical fiction, especially if it involves a place I’ve been to. So much of this book took place in Williamsburg, a place I’ve visited many times in the past couple years. I could picture each place she mentioned, the streets, taverns, stores, etc. Great story about our American Revolution and the first President from a wife’s perspective.
I learned a lot about American history and the Revolutionary war. Much about the sacrifices made by those in the war and their wives and children.
I like to think that a lot of this book was true. I never thought of the Washington’s as romantics. A little of bit history is always a good read.
What a wonderful window in to the life of our first president through the eyes of his wife. Her faith & the strength she drew from her faith are inspiring.
This novel was historically accurate. I have been to Martha Washington’s home in Northern Neck VA. The descriptions of the land and home were realistic. Most of the battles and conditions of the soldiers have been reported in history books and this author included the time table and locations of the battles perfectly. I am not a historical scholar, but I do love history and I can usually find an error in the historical reporting in novels. I found none in this book. The characters were lovable, even the ones who didn’t behave well. It was a good read.
Excellent for anyone interested is historical biographies. This will help you understand that the wife of the first president was a real person not just a name in a history book.
I had little knowledge about all of Washington’s role and the what it cost to obtain our right to freedom when this war was fought. For me this book was an eye opener and I will read more about our beginnings as a nstion.
I learned a lot they went through so much. I enjoyed this book so much. Great job of portraying the wife of a patriot and President.
Excellent book! I enjoyed it because it made history come alive & was inspirational.
Loved it and learned so much about the era. So neat to learn about Martha.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Moser has taken the facts about Martha and George Washington and woven them into a very readable story. I felt like I was living the history as it happened!
I enjoyed the writing style very much. The Fact or Fiction in Washington’s Lady at the back of the book was very interesting & had wished I could have read it before reading the book. I really enjoyed this book.
I enjoyed learning something of the life of Martha and George Washington leading up to his leadership as our first President. Her personality played quite a role in helping him and supporting him in all that he accomplished as a military leader and then as the leader of our country. She knew herself and was honest about her short-comings, while recognizing her strengths and how they could aid her husband.
Great historical novel, so many sacrifices to settle our country,
I loved this novel. Full of history and great reseach.
things i never knew about the first family
Loved the historical value, and narrative. Loved meeting Martha
