Warrior’s Wrath: A Dark Ages Scottish Romance (The Pict Wars Book 3) Warriors Wrath by Jayne Castel 4.5 Stars.
This historical story is filled with emotional tones of anger, angst, hate, revenge, sacrifice, and yes, love.
The people of the serpent were forced from their home on the mainland so they raged war and lay siege against the tribes on the winged isle to take their homes.
Mor, daughter of the serpent Chief is a warrior and mourning the loss of both her brothers. She sees how the loss has weighed on her father and her people but her father has no plans in seeking peace or leaving the isle. Talor of the Eagle tribe is consumed by his grief over the loss of his sister, and can’t let it go without avenging her death. With winter starting he decides to exact out his revenge alone against the Serpent Chief who was responsible for her death. But, nothing works out as planned. I loved this whole series! You become attached to these characters and their lives. Cheering for them, crying with them, and hoping for all of them to have a hea. I strongly recommend these Dark Ages Scottish Romance novels!

An amazing read! The story grabs you from the very beginning. There is betrayal, romance, so much action, living with bad decisions, learning to trust, finding love in the most unusual place and so much more. The detail and descriptions put into the entire story keeps you wanting more. Talor is determined to seek vengeance for his sister who was slain in battle but soon realizes the decision he has made in trying to seek vengeance on his own may not have the desired outcome. Mor, a warrior and daughter of his enemy, is tired of battle and blood shed sets out to try to bring peace. The story these two have together is simply wonderful!

The last story in the PICT war saga with a capture, an escape, a revelation already spoken, revealing the traitor, a murder and so much more in this romantic ending

They were always meant to be together
Rugged and fearless, Eagle warrior Talor mac Donnel sets out on a suicide mission to avenge his half sister. His need for revenge is all consuming, as is his hatred for the Serpent tribe. However, Fate has a way of changing hearts and minds.
Statuesque and fearless, warrior Mor is also the daughter of the Serpent chieftain. Her father’s enemies are her enemies, at least she thought so. It’s funny how Fate has a way of changing hearts and minds.
Of the three books in the Pict Wars trilogy by Jayne Castel, Warrior’s Revenge is by far my favorite. It may be the last, but it is not the least.
First off, I love the book cover. I also love a strong heroine who is equally matched on the battlefield and between the furs. Such is the case with Talor and Mor. I also love a story that is steeped in an ancient history that has all but been lost. Ms. Castel has truly woven together a compelling tale that is fraught with danger as well as an all but uncertain ending. There were times I was not sure how this author was going to pull together a happily-ever-after. Thankfully she did.
Content alert: Although any swearing is fourth century mild, there are some very steamy and descriptive sexually intimate scenes.
Disclosure: I received an ARC of this book from the author. I am voluntarily submitting my honest review.
Consumed by the need to avenge his younger sister’s death, Talor mac Donnel slips into enemy territory intent on killing the rival chieftain who cut his sister down in battle. Though he comes close to succeeding, Talor’s plan fails and he is captured.
The enemy chieftain’s daughter, Mor, has grown tired of war and wants only to live in peace. When a crazed enemy breaks in, tries to kill her father, and subsequently captured, Mor’s decision to free the prisoner changes everything for both of their tribes. If Talor can let go of the past and look to the future, the undeniable spark between himself and Mor could be strong enough to finally bring peace to their entire island.
It took me a bit to get into this book, but once I did I could not put it down and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Though only a few days pass in the events of the book, so much happens and through these major events both Mor and Talor undergo some major character development which, along with all the action, kept me engrossed. I found both main characters to be likable and was intrigued by the scenes we got from the enemy’s prospective as well. Talor and Mor made a very unlikely couple, but they fit each other well and I enjoyed this well-written story.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
At which point during a war do you decide enough is enough and only want peace? Mor has reached that point and she must make decisions that will either bring that peace about or have her killed. I absolutely loved Mor and Talor’s story, it’s filled with so much hope amidst the heartache, the losses, the need for revenge and the mistrust among the tribes.
Jayne Castel is the only author I know that writes so well about the Pict Wars and I have learned so much of their history through her stories. Adding a romance to the story just makes it that much more perfect:)
This is another very well written book in the Pict Wars series and I absolutely recommend it! I received an ARC of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
