Heart-mates just can’t be kept apart. I love it!
Somehow, sometime, these people got way off track and figured they didn’t need the opposite sex around to ‘bug’ them. Surely, this could not be what the Goddess intended. I have not encountered this type of theme very often. It makes intriguing reading. The central group of characters are strong-minded individuals, bent on survival, doing right for their people. Well, with the exception of the evil character threatening to annihilate the competition for top spot. I love watching Garat and Reena getting to know each other. Early love scenes between Garat and Reena are quite lyrical as they explore and experience something totally different from their expectations. The dangers they encounter and how they work things out are edge-of-your-seat reading. Not to be missed!
This was a decent story. Interesting characters. There are still several unanswered questions so I hope that there will be another book. This one is listed as book 1, which implies that there will be a book 2.
Intriguing story.
This is an intriguing story about a warrior and a princess with a twist. Reena has never met a man before and when she meets Garat he kidnaps her. In a world where men and women live seperate , will this couple start something new.? This book has characters and I would recommend it.
Excellent story, Cara!!
Sheltered isn’t even strong enough for the way Reena was raised. Part of a powerful tribe of women, who only use men for mating, Reena has never even laid eyes on a man. But she’s curious so she accompanies her cousin on her mating trip. But then she runs into Garat….
and their story is the epitome of love conquers all!!
Garat has been wronged by a woman and he has allowed to make him bitter towards ALL women. So when he sees Reena, he kidnaps her in his blinding need for vengeance. But Reena is so sweet that she slowly melts away his bitterness and Garat figures out that not all women are evil.
As always, Cara Bristol did not disappoint. The story twisted and turned and held my attention from start to finish. Cara sucked me into the story and I found myself saying “one more chapter” until I had finished the whole book!
This is really good. It is different and refreshing. It is not your normal second chance, secret baby, insta-lust nor friends to lovers. This is a unique enemy to lover romance. The female race lives in opulence and separate from the males. The males live simply and work hard for their community. Both groups worship the Goddess who is a supreme being. The females have a queen and a line of succession. The males have a leader who guide the men. There is a time when the female is overwhelmed with the urge to mate. She travels beyond the city walls to a mutual location for the men to mate. If conception occurs and the babe is female, she stays with the women. If the babe is male, he is taken to the male’s village to be with his father. This ritual occurs over and over again. In this story we have a murderous greedy ambitious female wanting to displace the line of succession so only she remains. She is evil incarnate dressed as a sweet innocent lamb. There is The Goddess’s Tome. That tells of the history of the people, the future of the people and the prophecy that may or may not unite the female and male population. It is up for interpretation. There is loyalty, betrayal, secret passages and traitors. The story is well written. It is so descriptive that one can see an image in one’s mind of the surroundings, the sounds, the clothing but especially the feeling and emotions of the characters. The characters are alive and stir the imagination. This is a very good book, an exciting read and I do recommend it. I received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
An outstanding paranormal romance with an undertone of “mythology” & “enemies to lovers” It has a well-paced story-line & plot filled with unexpected occurrences & events. The characters are well-developed & realistically portrayed as emotionally flawed & have a variety of traits and different sides to their personalities; there is good support from the secondary characters.
There is: a male leader (Garat) who is only interested in obtaining water & revenge comes across a strong-willed but naïve princess (Reena) & saves her from being murdered, her manipulative cousin (Honna), female warriors, male warriors, mating crystals, heartmates, twists & turns, intrigue, suspense, devious plans, danger, enemies/villains, evil, threats, deceit, betrayal, memories, vengeful feelings, attempted murder, abduction, defiance, disbelief, suspicion, confusion, attractions, devious contemplation, allies, confrontations, victory, compromises, love, steamy scenes & a well-deserved happy ending. I enjoyed reading this paranormal romance & would recommend it to people who like to read this genre. I doubt you would be disappointed.
Reena is the princess to a tribe of women that follow the Goddess and outside the walls are men. When its time for mating they go outside the wall to huts made for only when its mating season. This time Reena goes out with her cousin Honna to see men. She’s never been outside the walls and never seen a man. While Honna is in the hut Reena hides so she can see the men. Honna takes Reena to a watering hole for the next dosage and Reena cant keep it down, in an attempt to Reena safe Garat interferes when Honna tries to kill Reena. Garat keeps hearing in his head to protect Reena and all he see’s is the way to get the Queen to get what he wants…water! While Garat keeps Reena his hatred is lessened by Reena….will it be enough to save Reena or will they both get the HEA.
