Vaslisha Tor Dain is a mercenary starship captain with a few simple rules: A good ship is better than a great man, in case of confusion always err on the side of blowing someone’s head off, and never fall for a telepath or a member of her crew. All of those are about to bite her in the behind.Vas’s life takes a turn for the worse when she comes back to her crew after what should have been a two … after what should have been a two week pleasure trip to find out she’s actually been gone a month and has no memory of missing time. Her beloved ship, The Victorious Dead, has been sold for scrap and its pieces scattered throughout the galaxy. In addition, there are unmarked ships blowing apart entire planets and the Commonwealth government can’t, or won’t, stop them.
And that’s just her first day back.
Vas has to fight her crew, the Commonwealth, and a mysterious cadre of warrior monks to get her ship back and save a universe that may not want to be saved.

A fun read! Captain Tor Dain and her crew of the Warrior Wench can seem to be real misfits but they sure can get the job done! I like the writing style, good action and character stories.
Can’t wait to read the sequel!
what fun
This is the best read I have had in ages, great storyline that grabs you at the beginning. I could not put this down until I finished it. Action packed adventure with great characters, mystery and a dash of romance. I’ve already bought the next book.
This book was FUN! I loved it.
Very enjoyable and comical. Good read
Good read
I liked this sci-fi adventure enough to buy all in the series despite having several hundred books still to read. It kept me interested to the end. Some series become repetitious and are a struggle to reach the end. Not this one. It seemed as fresh as the first through to the last page.
I’ve loved all of the books by Marie Andreas.
Really good writer!
I like this book because it is different. It is futuristic and develops its story line as it goes along.
Great fun sci-fi despite the title. Bought next two in series.
Great space opera
Looking forward to reading the next in the series
Fun read. Enjoyed the characters, and they really are characters. Will read the sequel for sure.
Not quite original.. but good humor, and fun worlds
An extremely interesting space opera. I found it impossible to put down, before I finished reading it.
This was the first of a trilogy and I never got tired of it as so often happens. Marie Andreas has created a great cast of characters in a strong sci-fi universe. I just finished the last of the series and came away with a huge satisfied sigh. She wrapped it up kind of quickly (but maybe I was just reading too fast) but left us with the kind message that, although this cycle has finished, the cast and crew will be back in 2020 for more adventures. One of Marie’s strong points, and the reason I read these so fast, is that she ends each chapter with an event or sentence that MAKES you have to read just one more page…
I like the characters so far. They’re an interesting combination of human and alien with all sorts of neat characteristics.
Space Opera with nonstop action. The book is part of a bigger story but is stand alone.
