I think I’ve said this every time after reading one of Kelsey Kingsley’s books, but Warrior Blue really is my favorite. Warrior Blue pulled me in and didn’t let me go until I read the last page. This book made me laugh, cry, be angry and I was sad when it’s over.
If you’re looking for a typical romance, Warrior Blue, isn’t the book you’re looking for. This book is so much more. It’s unconditional love, grief, family and believing you deserve more in life. Romance is only one small part of this story.
Blake is a tattoo artist that is holding the whole world on his shoulders. Years ago, Blake’s twin, Jake was in an accident and suffered a brain injury. This changed Blake’s life in many ways and he feels responsible for everything that happens. One of Blake’s ways of thinking, is Jake can’t have the life he deserved, so why should I? From the start I just wanted to hug Blake and tell him it was okay. There was so much for him in life, but he wouldn’t let himself believe it was for him.
Audrey walks into the shop Blake works at and requests a tattoo. That’s the start of something new for him. This tattoo is going to flip both of their worlds upside down. I’m a big believer in everything happens for a reason and this author showed us that frequently in this book. Certain things are meant to happen and come into your life just in time and I think Audrey was this for Blake.
Normally with books like Warrior Blue, I need to have the perspective of both characters, but this one really was Blake’s book. Audrey was important, but I didn’t miss looking at everything from her side. She was Blake’s angel in many ways. I loved seeing them get to know each other and how it really started opening Blake up. That and his sessions with his therapist, really made him start thinking. Could he still have a good life and be happy and be there for Jake? Should he be allowed to be happy? Blake opens himself up and my heart broke for him so many times.
Warrior Blue is filled with so many emotions, I’m having a hard time putting it all into words. I really think this is a book you need to read for yourself and feel all the feels. This book really makes you think about signs life gives you and how everything can change when one little thing happens. There is also some amazing poetry and little cameos from a few characters we know from previous stories! I couldn’t recommend this book enough!
I was drawn to the main character Blake immediately. There is just something about him that makes you feel all kinds of emotions. The author did a wonderful job of pulling you in and captivating you on an emotional rollercoaster through the journey of the story. I can’t wait to read the bonus epilogue. I loved Blake so much!
A beautiful story about love and hope and change. How love can change you and bring out the best in you…the love of a man and woman and also the love between brothers. I laughed and cried and loved reading this book…an amazing book by my favorite author.
I am a fan of Kelsey Kingsley’s books, and her new releases are always a once-click for me as soon as they are released. I feel like her writing just keeps getting better and better.
Warrior Blue is so moving and so emotional. Blake, the male lead, is a complicated, broken man that thinks he doesn’t deserve any goodness. He’s angry with the world. Audrey turns his world on it’s axis, and brings brightness and light into his life.
The book is written exclusively from Blake’s perspective, so we get to see into the mind of this beautiful, complicated man throughout the entire process of falling in love. It was such a touching and wonderful read, and I look forward to many more from Kelsey Kingsley in the future.
A Great Tear-jerker!
I wasn’t sure I would be able to finish this book as it takes the reader on an emotional journey pulling at your heart but putting it back together one piece at a time. This book is possibly one of the best I will return to time and again!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I’m thinking this one needs more stars than the 5 allowed. “Signs. Souls. Fate. Gifts. God.” How do you measure your life? How do you measure your worth? Do you measure by what others think? Can you see the you that others see? This story has everything. The pain Blake feels is real. Whether it is in his head, brought on by his own thoughts and beliefs or by others who chose not to see the pain they are inflicting on others around them, it is REAL. He is all about creating beauty out of chaos but is unable to see the beauty within himself. All it takes is one person, one thought, one action, one smile…to create an avalanche of emotion within Blake that he is absolutely unable to deal with. All he wants to do is make sure his brother is taken care of but others have the power to derail his plans. He must learn to accept what is offered from a very unlikely source. “…why a thousand accidents had aligned so perfectly to bring me here, to this exact moment.” This is a quote that I will forever try to remember in my own life. An amazing story of love and yes…hate that had me crying by Chapter 5 but that totally made up for it…in the end.
This book is amazing. This is my new favorite book. I will read over and over again. This book will pull on your heart strings.
I really enjoyed this book. I love that it is all from Blake’s POV. He has a lot of personal growth and he def works toward personal healing and understanding. His relationship with Jake is lovely.
I read somewhere that someone didn’t like Audrey because she put up with too much of Blake’s crap and that some of his behaviour could be red flags for real relationships. I have a different opinion. I think making Audrey a preschool teacher was an excellent choice. Competent preschool teachers, or anyone who lives or works with small children, become masters at understanding poor behaviour and where it is coming from. This stems from tiny humans having big complex emotions but not the words or patience to express them – hence tantrums, hitting and any number of other undesirable behaviours. I will say that if it wasn’t just pops of these episodes I too would have wanted her to walk away.
If I had one critique or thing I would like people to know it would be that I think Audrey is just a player in Blake’s story. I personally don’t think there is anything wrong with that but I do know some people don’t like when women take a backseat to men in stories; however, in this case I think that this is Blake’s story and it is ok that everyone else is just a player in it. With this in mind, the people around Blake do not develop very much. One notable exception to this is his mother. I think that she also has some personal growth and develops into a more complete character. Blake, however, does develop very nicely and he has a lot of positive growth throughout the entire story.
I hope you enjoy the story too.
WOW! There are no words to do this book justice! Blake’s story is so amazing! I was not able to put this book down until I devoured every word! AMAZING! FIVE STARS!
This was such a heartbreaking beautiful story and not just a love story but a story about familial love so powerful between two brothers that it will bring tears to your eyes . I’m not even going to go into the story because I don’t want to give anything away , but I will say this isn’t my usual romance story that I read but the writing was sooo phenomenal and the story was thought provoking and just beautifully told about two damaged souls that come together and save each other and abound of coincidences that bring these two together , I just could not put it down!
*** I voluntarily reviewed an advanced complimentary copy of this book ***
Kelsey Kingsley!! Omg!! This book! These characters!! It was amazing and enthralling all in the same breath. The characters are so real and raw!! You connect with them on an emotional level you didn’t even know you could relate with.
Her wiring was flawless and so intense at times. The emotions you feel for Blake, Aubrey and Jacob will slay you. You want to help them and be part of them. This author continues to grow more and more as an author and will forever he a one click author for me!!
Blake is definitely a guy that has emotions that have taken over his life. He wears his guilt like a necklace. Aubrey come is to his life and chisels away at the wall he has around his heart. She definitely is a breathe of fresh air!! She will make the light show up in Blake’s darkness. Together, they are a force to be reckoned with. But will Blake let it happen? It is one you need to read, devour and obsess over from the first words to the last words. Amazing job l!!
Gah!So many feels!Seriously you guys.I guarentee every single person who reads this book will want a real life Blake. He is everything and his love for Audrey…swoon!!They are goals, new years resolution, they are what i wanna be when i grow up lol.A beautiful breathtaking story that shows how the smallest coincidences can really just be fate working its magic.I love love loved this book and although it’s only January i can say with 100% accuracy that this is one of my top reads of 2020!This was my first read by kelsey kingsley and it will definetly NOT be my last! The bringer of the feels!!
I have read every Kelsey Kinglsey book and Warrior Blue may be my new favorite. This is such a heartbreaking yet heartwarming story. It will bring you to tears one moment and having you smiling the next. I read hundreds of books each year and only a handful stay with me. This is one that will stay with me always. A must read!
My first 6 star review of 2020! And remember I only had 2 last year!
I can’t express how Warrior Blue is so much more than a romance novel. The characters are so raw and real that you feel with them. Not just happiness or love but anger and despair, confusion, and frustration. It isn’t just a boy meets girl love story. It’s a story about the loss of life, but how you can lose someone without death and grieving someone who’s still here but not the same. It’s about the love between siblings and between children and parents. It’s about how sometimes fate or destiny or God or kissmet weaves us into each other lives in ways we can’t even begin to imagine.

Warrior Blue is an amazing read. I loved loved this one. It’s a heart string puller. Blake is a very talented tattoo artist. He has a lot on his plate. He has a disabled twin brother, Jake. Blake has a huge heart and such a nice guy. He cares for his brother. He doesn’t think he has time or deserved to have romantic relationship. Audrey kind of blows into his life and he wasn’t expecting or ready for her. I love Audrey. She has a lot she’s dealing with too. While Jake is grumpy and broody about the cards life dealt him, Audrey is more looks for the positives in the cards that life dealt her. Aubrey doesn’t let Blake back away from her. She doesn’t give up on him and gives him the pushes he needs. I loved this whole story. This is definitely a must read now book.
OH ..MY …STARS!! This book was so freaking good!! Kelsey Kingsley killed it with this book. An angsty, heart warmingly sweet, broken soul H, Blake doesn’t feel as though he deserves happiness and doesn’t believe in fate. Yet an unexpected customer wanting a a tattoo flips his world upside down and for the better. Well written, captivating and just all around wonderful. This book is a MUST read.
WARRIOR BLUE
This book is the easiest five stars I’ve ever given.
The name and the cover of this book had me very intrigued and I couldn’t wait to start reading this book.
This book and author is a first for me and I definitely wasn’t disappointed this story will have your heart in a vice from the very beginning.
Blake takes care of his disabled twin brother he’d do anything for his brother, anything. He feels like his life revolves around him constantly, and he can’t make any decisions about his own life.
Blake is a tattoo artist and an exceptional one at that he holds down a job while also taking care of his brother, while his parents are completely no help at all. Blake feels immensely guilty and he’s very angry a lot of the time. He sees his therapist quite frequently too.
Audrey is a woman who is also a little lost. She comes into Blake’s life just when he needs it, just at the right time. It’s all down to a tattoo.
Does fate step in and help these two souls?
Can they both open up to each other?
This book was the most amazing book I’ve read in a while. I couldn’t put it down and I read it long into the night.
I absolutely loved these characters, the love these brothers have for each other is so honest and true. Blake is very patient, loving and understanding, he shows his brother a lot of affection and he is always there for him and knows exactly what he needs.. Audrey is a woman that also has immense strength inside and has also been through a lot. These two characters Blake and Audrey need each other.
This book takes you on an emotional rollercoaster.
It will have you crying and then smiling at times, it’s so heartfelt that it will stay with you for a while it really pulls on your heart strings, it’s so emotional.
This author has an amazing writing talent and I will be highly recommend this book to everyone when it’s released.
I will look forward to seeing what this author writes in the future.
This book will easily be a best seller.
Thank You to the author and publishers for allowing me to read an early copy of this book.
ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.
This book is out now.
Oh my heart Blake & Audrey!
I love reading books from the male characters point of view. Kelsey does not disappoint giving us this whole book from Blake’s heart breaking and rejoicing point of view.
In Warrior blue we meet not 1 but 2 sets of twins who have both faced horrible events that have shaped them into who they are today.
One simple tattoo & a Devine intervention bring Blake into contact with Audrey.
Audrey believes in faith, angels and the guidance from her sister from beyond the grave.
Blake faces numerous struggles, dealing with his mentally challenged twin brother, dealing with parents and doing his award winning tattoos while working for someone else.
I love how Audrey slowly brings Blake out of his shell and forces him to face situations he didn’t want to face.
Warrior Blue
Kelsey Kingsley
5 Phenomenal Stars
Fantastic! Amazing! Warrior Blue totally blew me away and then there came the after the reading affect! So many emotions, very inspiring, and really beautiful! Loved this so much!
“You were always my brave little warrior. Always up for a fight, always getting into something, and your father and I were always waiting for you to get hurt.”
“Things weren’t perfect, but our path to recovery was lit with hope. And I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t enjoying the journey.”
Get to one clicking! You will be so happy you did!!
Kelsey Kingsley’s words are good at basically ripping my heart out of my chest. Then it is mangled, mixed up, and put back in. She brings up all the feelings in me: giddiness, shame, love, pain, etc. I fell in love with Jake. I love how he loves with his colors, and with his heart. Blake seems like he’s Mr. Darkness, but the light is trying to shine through. He is his brother’s keeper, his savior. I was so happy that someone was able to see through to his light and to bring it out, in spite of that darkness that wanted to stick around. Love, love, love!
