I chose stasis—a long sleep—for me and two of mine. Hard to time these things, but we woke in the eye of a cyclone. When I went to sleep—to avoid being drained of magic and blood by dark Sorcerers—Vampires weren’t exactly on the endangered species list, but not many of us are left. No one ever accepted us. Not mortals and not others with power, either. At least one of those dams has developed a … has developed a few cracks. Supernaturals aren’t quite welcoming, but they’ll take help from any quarter.
Mortals have declared war on magic, and they won’t rest until we’re all sitting in iron-clad prisons. What a bunch of cowards. If they weren’t hiding behind false humanitarian walls, they’d be honest about their intentions and kill us outright if they could.
The world turned into an alien place while I slept. Not much point returning to my clan house in Italy. It’s probably long since disbanded. Besides, fate tossed me squarely in Ariana’s path. She’s like me, a Vampire, but I hunger for her in a very un-Vampirelike way.
She’s done her damnedest to chase me away, but I’m tough to dissuade. She doesn’t know it, but I won’t back off until she’s mine.
No matter what it takes.

This is then second book in the series and yes they do need to be read in order.
This one takes off where book one finishes.
The plot is just getting better with each book and this author knows how to draw
you into the storyline and keeps you there.
Definitely looking forward to the next episode to find out what happens.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
Since I was held hostage in the first one I hoped for that in this one and it delivered it with more than expected. Right off we are dropped into something I imagine would be terrifying but to me but glued to how they handle it. The foundation in this one is full of what is going on with all sides. Nocolas has us right were he wants us with also his sights on Ariana as things are in turmoil. With others in this to catch our attention we are wrapped up in this from start to end ready to see what awaits.
Warped Line is Ann Gimpel’s 2nd book in her Cataclysm Series. It picks up where book one left off. The war is on! Not only is there fighting on one front, but the group must now decide whether or not they can afford to face enemies from two sides. The conflict between humans and supernaturals is heating up, and everyone must agree either to work together or to serve their own interests instead. Likewise with the attacks from the evil socerers. Can the individual supernatural clans set aside their pride or will their differences stand in the way of unity?
The storyline is fast-paced, well written and told from two different viewpoints giving it further depth. It is filled with magic, danger, intrigue and romance. The characters are well developed, varied and engaging. I enjoyed their vast array of magics. I look forward to the conclusion of this exciting series!
I was so excited about how well Nicolas was adapting and fitting in with everyone after 100 years in stasis. Through the beginnings of this war he has a solid purpose and Ariana has been intent on getting all of the magical folks together. She is willing to see how things could work between her and Nick. But, their trouble is not over yet. They have the Paranormal Task force after them, the dark sorcerers and their deadly monsters, more fighting and Nick trying to kill her. Ariana is sucked off world and by the time Conan is able to find her she’s almost dead. I love the way Clive is turning out. He is no longer the obvious outsider. I went through so many feelings reading this book. I was disappointed in Nickolas. Something that happened over 500 years ago should be left in the past. I can’t wait for the next book to see if Nick gets his act back together. I requested an advanced reader copy and am under no obligation to leave this review.
I’m loving this series. The world-building is fantastic, and now the humans and Supernaturals are on the verge of war. All the characters we meet in this story are terrific with some kickass women. I’ve always loved stories with “good” vampires in them, especially when they have more layers to their past that have made them what they are in the present. The author gives us confused vampires, hidden deadly secrets, many twist and turns, instant desires, surprises and I’m giving a little spoiler, nothing that gives real details, but I really like stories where animals are not only one of the main characters but are able to communicate. I do recommend this book to all lovers of the paranormal genre; you will not be disappointed. I’m really excited to read the next book in the series. In case I didn’t mention it, I LOVED this book.
(4.5) This new series by Ann Gimpel is rocking! She puts her own spin on the paranormal and everything is new and fresh. Book 2 immediately pics up where 1 left off. I mean immediately, I would recommend reading book 1 first, not just for the enjoyment but to see how things have evolved. There is a lot of action, lust (after all vampires don’t feel, or have emotions, or do they?), turmoil and cataclysm (hee hee). There are nefarious two timing Sorcerers and witches, evil human beings and more. I want to know what really is going on with Guardians and I am so torn with Conan wanting happiness for him. We saw more of Clive in this book and I like the vampire he is becoming. I love, love, love strong Ariana, her humor, her honesty with herself and her willingness to see other sides. I like watching Nickolas grow and become “more than” vampire and cannot wait for book 3. Thank you Ann for the opportunity to grab this arc. I recommend this to anyone who is for a wild ride in urban fantasy lane, and even if its not your norm genre, give it a shot. All thoughts and opinions are my own and I freely volunteer them!
Picks up after book one and keeps up the pace. This time around you get to see even more supernaturals working together, after a rocky start. The vampires and sorcerers agree to teaming up to go take on some of the dark sorcerers. Ariana’s bar is attacked and so much more. Ariana and Nick are getting closer but there is one big secret between them, and it just might tear them apart.
I am loving this series and can’t wait to see what happens next. I am really hoping that we get more of Conor backstory. I think there is so much going on with him that we haven’t gotten to see yet.
