A steamy standalone romance featuring a swoon-worthy single dad and the one woman he absolutely shouldn’t fall in love with.SullivanIt’s a hot summer morning and I’m already running late.I’m no one’s white knight, but when I see a damsel in distress, I have to rescue her.I didn’t know it would be Aubrey Dorado, the girl I swore was off-limits.Now she’s under my skin and I can’t get her out of my … off-limits.
Now she’s under my skin and I can’t get her out of my head.
So, I did the worst thing possible and hired her to work in my gym.
Lusting after my new employee breaks my number one rule.
But each day she tempts me with her sweet personality and clever mind.
I’ve been burned by love before.
Romance is a risk I can’t afford.
But how much longer can I resist the attraction simmering between us?
Aubrey
I swore I’d never be that girl again. The one who screws up her life and future over a handsome face and empty compliments.
Then I signed up for a self-defense class with Sullivan “Sully” Wallace.
He’s fearless and brave. Things I’m not.
He’s also strong, silent, and stubborn. Things that drive me crazy.
When he offers me a job, I jump at it.
But working around my untouchable crush isn’t as much fun as I thought it would be.
Especially when he makes it clear he’s not interested in anything more than employee/employer.
Just when I think he might be changing his mind, the biggest mistake of my life returns.
Sully is the only man I trust to help me fight back. But will he forgive me for keeping my past a secret?
Warnings & Wildfires is a complete standalone romance from the author of the Lost Kings MC series.

“You’re all fitness-y and I’m kinda fluffy.”
I’m a huge fan of the author’s Lost Kings MC series that I started back in 2014, and I’ve been stalking her ever since. Yes, it was my MC Romance addiction that put her on my radar, but it was her talent that kept me coming back for more. While Warnings & Wildfires is not about badass bikers, I’m happy to report that a few of my favorites did make an appearance.
I knew from reading the synopsis that Sullivan (aka Sully) would rescue Aubrey and then later hire her to work at his gym. He knew it would be a struggle to keep his thoughts and his hands to himself, but it was even worse than he imagined. Not only was he fighting his own impulses, he now knew that she felt the same way. “We have enough chemistry to blow up a building.”
Woo Hoo! Holy Hotness, Batman! The harder they fought their feelings the less control they had over them. I was afraid my Kindle was gonna blow up with them, but it wasn’t enough to convince me to let go of it. Nope, the ‘slow burn’ had me gripping it even tighter. I was whispering in their ears, encouraging them to give in to their lust for each other, fanning the flames.
Both characters have painful pasts and good reason to avoid relationships. They know that working together makes them off-limits to each other. But hey, rules are made to be broken, right? And just to keep us on our toes, the author threw in some secrets and suspense to go along with the warnings and wildfires. I was really, reeeaaally curious about Aubrey’s past but all I was getting were glimpses that were doled out throughout the story. Keeping me anxious and worried as I waited for what I hoped wouldn’t happen to happen. And at the same time, I waaasss ready for some rulebreaking. I was on standby, ready to take notes.
While the story is a standalone, I’m really hoping for more from this amazing cast of characters. Sully’s brother, Jake, is so funny and such a manwhore. I also love Aubrey’s sister, Celia. She is badass and I loved it when she would put him in his place. Then there’s the sexy neighbor…sigh. Do you see where I’m going with this? That’s at least two books right there, unless you put all three of them together, and that’s not a bad idea either. The line forms here…
Must read!!! Could not put this book down until I finished it!! Literally. Finished in one Day it was so good!!!!
Let me tell you…..Sully is my new alpha male leading man by Autumn!!!! I loved this story I loved the chemistry between Sully and Aubrey!!!! I just couldn’t put it down once I started!!! The depth of what Aubrey went through was sad, andnwith little support you just feel for her and wanna hug her!!! Don’t fear, Sully has her back tho!!!
Great story about a woman who is leaving a abusive relationship, dealing with her guilt, hometown gossip, and her feelings for her brothers best friend who is watching over her.
Love Autumns writing style, she makes you fall into the story and you feel your emotions right there with them. I find myself laughing and crying out loud reading her stories,
Love Sully! I like how these spin off books have just a little of the LOKI connection. Definitely read this book you won’t be disappointed!
Another great book! But now I want a Jake & Celia story!
Three things I love most about this book:
1. Sully is an alpha male and fiercely protective of those he loves.
2. Some LOKI characters make an appearance
3. Autumn Jones Lake wrote this story, which’s means it’s an amazing read!
Sully and Aubrey both have things in their pasts that they are still in the process of dealing. Things really heat up when Sully finally gives into their mutual attraction. Eventually, Aubrey’s past catches up with them and it isn’t pretty.
Thank you Autumn for another great read! I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us next!!!!
This book is an awesome keeper. I love all of Autumn Jones Lake’s stories and this is no exception. I could not wait to get it, I could not put it down, and I will be rereading over and over again.
As soon as I realized WARNINGS & WILDFIRES had hit my kindle I dropped everything and dived right in. If there is one thing I know, its the excitement I’m going to feel when i read one of A.J Lake’s books!
This was yet again a fantastic read which Immediately hits the mark and grabs your attention with its enticing storyline and characters! Warnings & Wildfires is a standalone but also a sidekick to the ongoing and much loved Lost Kings MC series AJL is best known for and does feature some of the Lost Kings characters we all know and love so well. Saying that, it is not a requirement to read anything prior to enjoy this book.
In this story we meet the very handsome, 28 year old Sullivan (Sully) Wallace. Owner of Strike Back gym and older brother to the sexy and cheeky Jake who pops up occasionally throughout the Lost Kings MC series.
Sully has been focused on his business and daughter who he only gets to see one weekend a month, for the past 5 – 6 years leaving little time for anything else, much less love?
Aubrey Dorado, the 22 year old sassy little pocket rocket who lives with her older sister, Celia, after their parents disowned Aubrey as a teenager because they didn’t want Aubrey’s “mistake” to give them a bad image. Unfortunately Aubrey’s parents cared more about making good impressions than their own daughters safety and welfare but that’s ok, Aubrey doesn’t dwell on it, if anything its made her the strong and independent woman she comes across as in the story.
Aubrey has been taking the women’s self defense classes at the local gym… Sully’s gym! Where it’s soon obvious the two share more than a little friendly interest in each other but Sully’s “no fraternising with the clients and now the staff after he gives her a job rule” is putting a major spanner in the works and neither are too impressed about it. Regardless of how attracted he is to Aubrey, Sully isnt about to break his rules, his mum and daughter are the only ladies he has time for in his busy life… but Jake and the guys are more than willing to do what it takes to make him realise he CAN find time for love and what better than to show a little obvious interest in the girl?… brings out the caveman in the man Every.Time!
I would put W&W in the insta-love category after their initial “trying to fight it” doesn’t work. Normally I’m not a big fan of this theme but like with all Lake’s books she has a real knack of giving you great chemistry just how it should be given without the cheesy with a side of greasy – which is normally how I find insta-love to be!
The storyline and characters are so well developed and even though this is a standalone you still get the complete picture. AJL doesn’t give her readers a half-assed story so she can get away with writing a shorter book… quality AND quantity is never an issue, yet it was still all over way too quickly which in my opinion is always the sign of a good book, don’t you think?
Without giving anything away W&W did revolve around some serious matters, but don’t worry it wasn’t over-the-top, becoming the main focus and all melodramatic. No, It’s definitely a great mix of drama, action and what we all love… sexy romance!
Her male characters are always the strong alpha male type but also have that swooniness (yes that’s a word, at least in this genre) when it comes to looking after their women (and friends) and likewise with the women. Strong, independent, sassy and sexy, with kickass attitudes and never the victim mentalities. I think the great characters along with storylines that are mature and intriguing is what makes me and many others so in love with her books!
Warnings and Wildfires is a again a standout read by Autumn Jones Lake and l highly recommend to everyone who enjoys the lighter side of serious romance!
You did your fans proud once again Autumn, and a big thanks for giving us some more dreamy men to put into our spankbank WHAAAAAAT!
Autumn Jones Lake does not disappoint with the spin off novel. I loved the characters from the start and rooted for them the whole way through.
This story blew my mind, I loved it right from page one. There was nothing in the world that I would ever change about this story. The flow was great the characters were wonderful and the story line really kept me into the story. I had a hard time once I reached the end, I felt like I was missing a piece and now I can only hope that it comes in future stories. I loved it!!!! It was all kinds of steamy with an alpha at every turn. I loved the way Sully really no matter what a Hero. Aubrey this strong amazing young woman opened my eyes up and made me see things differently for once. I really was amazed at her by the end of the story. The strength these 2 characters have and they way they feed off each other keeps you turning the page. It was easy to read and very romantic. This is a Must Read!!!
***I received this ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts, I was in no way told what to say this is all me, myself and I***
5 Star Review by Jodi for Ruby Red Romance Review
I feel in insta-love with this story. It was more than I could have asked for. I’m pretty new to Autumn Jones Lake, but I have to tell you she has a new fan. I must admit, I’m new to this series as well. I didn’t have any issues follow it though.
Sullivan “Sully” Wallace was everything I wanted him to be and more. His life is his daughter, his mother, and his gym. Having a strict “no fraternizing” policy might prove to be hard for Sully, especially when he hires the beautiful Aubrey. Aubrey has a past. One that caused her family to turn their back on her for. They made it crystal clear they didn’t want her past to taint them. Now she needs a job, one that Sully offers to her. Fighting the attraction these two have for each other may be easier said than done. It takes Sully’s brother Jake and the rest of the gang to help Sully work through is issues and see that HEA is okay.
Loved this story. I loved the characters. Autumn Jones Lake sucked me in from the very beginning and didn’t let go. I love a good MC romance and this one hit the mark and more. Please check out this amazing book.
4.5 Stars
I didn’t think Autumn’s writing could get any better than her Lost Kings MC series, which was how I was originally introduced to her writing, but I was wrong. Whilst a standalone, Warnings & Wildfires is interconnected with both Bullets & Bonfires and the Lost Kings MC series, as several of the characters make an appearance within the storyline. This title is a well written, steamy and unique story full of heat and heart.
Sully and Aubrey are complex, yet completely endearing characters with pasts they would like to forget.
Aubrey is no stranger to hard work, and although she’s dependant on her older sister she’s strong, determined and driven to succeed. Although she’s guarded and oozes vulnerability the chemistry between this pair is intense and quite palpable.
Sully has had his fair share of hardship in the past. He’s a single father who is very determined and driven to make his gym Strike Back a success, even if it means ignoring the chemistry and attraction that smolders between himself and Aubrey.
Underneath the intense connection and chemistry this pair share is a story full of secrets, suspense and intrigue that will keep you enthralled and captivated.
The side characters are completely endearing and engaging. Sully’s brother Jake is fun, irreverent and flirtatious and Aubrey’s sister Celia is sassy, loyal and strong. I loved the banter between the various characters and loved that we get a glimpse of Wrath and Murphy, and Bree and Liam from Bullets & Bonfires. I hope this isn’t the last we see of this set of characters and will be eagerly awaiting future releases from Autumn Jones Lake.
I am always eager to jump into a book by Autumn Jones Lake and this was no different. Now I am so used to reading her Lost Kings books that I wasn’t sure what to expect with this one but I had faith that it was going to be good and it was great! We get to see some of our favorite MC guys and Sully and Jake are nothing to sneeze at either. Sully is a swoon worthy character that has so many qualities that you will find it impossible not to fall in love with him.
Sully knows that getting involved with Aubrey is against his rules but now that he hired her and she is around more he is finding it harder and harder to resist her. The chemistry between these two is smoking but Aubrey keeps getting hurt with his rejections of her. As time goes by they learn more and more about each other and things grow. Unfortunately the past rears its ugly head and puts not only what they have in danger but puts one of them in danger as well.
This is a must read book. You will fall in love with all the characters and be like many of us and want more. Seriously I would have no problem begging for a story with Jake and Celia at least but their neighbor has me intrigued and wanting more as well. Anyway do not miss out on this book!!!
Sometimes trying to fight your feelings makes them even stronger, and for Sully that rings very true. He first meets Aubrey in one of his self defense classes, and because he doesn’t want a bad reputation, he does not date students. But his heart and other parts of his body feel otherwise. Aubrey is the type of heroine I love! She’s hard working, self sufficient and she says her mind. The only problem, she has her secrets from her past, which led her to Sully in the first place. If you’ve read the books in the Lost Kings series you will recognize old friends you already love, but because this is in the Lost Kings world and not in the series, you can start from here. This story made me smile, laugh out loud, it made my heart race (for various reasons), and it made me cry. I absolutely LOVED it!! There were times my eyes were welling up while I was smiling, it’s just that amazing!! I have a hard time finding different words to describe this author’s books because I love them so much, and I’m very happy to say I’ve never been disappointed. If you’ve never read an MC Romance before I highly suggest you start with the Lost Kings series because you will fall in love and ache (in a good way) when you finish. I always miss these characters (who I seriously think of as friends) when I’m not reading books about them, but it’s definitely worth it, to be able to read all the words. I look forward to the next book and when you are done you will too! Enjoy!!
I have always love the new stories when Autumn puts out a new book. This newest story she has released is in the same Lost Kings world , but it is also different. New characters and old come together to blend perfectly in this story. As you read this story it is like the people are there with you and not a story at all. They pop off of the page.
Both Sully and Aubrey have a past that neither know much about. How much to tell and how fast to tell can make or break things. But then again rules are meant to be broken, so why not take risks? Read along as these two try to figure everything out without losing themselves or letting the past dictate the future
This is my first book by Autumn Jones Lake, and what a cracker it was, I loved it. I’m really behind the times having not read any of her previous Lost Kings MC series, but I plan to go back and do just that if this book is anything to go by!!
Wonderfully written with a whole host of engaging characters, the story flows seemlessly – I just couldn’t get enough of Sully and Aubrey with their forbidden romance and steaming hot chemistry!
Sully is the owner of a gym where he works with his brother Jake. Working is his constant focus along with that of being a single dad to his 11 year old daughter who he only sees once a month. He has been badly burned in his previous relationship with his daughters mother and has sworn off any type of relationship with women preferring to dedicate his time to his gym and his daughter.
Aubrey takes the odd fitness class run by Sully and has fancied him from afar for a while, but believes she is way out of his league and has low self-esteem and confidence about her looks and curves. She works part time at the local coffee shop while going to college in the hope of helping her sister in her hairdressing business on the accounts side. But she jumps at the chance of working in Sully’s gym for extra money and of course being near Sully. She has had a real bad experience in her past, which is only hinted at in the story line until quite late on in the book when you find out what she has gone through, she doesn’t do relationships but can’t help but feel the chemistry between her and Sully.
They really do put up a tremendous fight to ignore their connection and chemistry, but once the line gets broken and Sully breaks his own rules, there’s no going back!! Prepare to have your kindles melting!!
A great read with a fab cast of supporting characters some of which are from her MC series, so can’t wait to read more about those!! There’s lots of witter banter and great friendships that ooze love and loyalty. Brilliant!! I can’t recommend this enough, a must read for me.
Autumn Jones Lake is a new author to me and I’m glad I took a chance on Warnings and Wildfires as I really liked It. I was thrown off by the title because it didn’t fit the story. However that doesn’t take away from the fact that it’s well written and enjoyable.
Sully is really great character and an even better dad (l love a single dad romance). Aubrey is awesome and the strength she possesses is amazing.
I loved the way their relationship progressed and their attempts on trying to resist each other was entertaining.
My only other issue with this book is some of the scenes were drawn out which made the book longer than it needed to be and delayed getting to the climax. I recommend reading Warnings and Wildfires and will definitely be reading more of this authors books.
Once again Autumn has outdid herself. This book had me go thru ever emotion possible. I feel in love with the characters and had the bonus of some old faves getting an appearance. The love scenes were super hot and the romantic scenes were so heart felt. I so recommend this book by one of my fave authors.
This book is amazing! Autumn Jones Lake knows how to write a book and never disappoints. These characters will make you have all the feels as they are so relatable. No petty drama but an actual storyline that will be hard to put down. I can’t say enough good things.
