Welcome back to Willow Harbor. Meet Delpha. Delpha is part Oceanid and part sorceress. Delpha has accepted only half of who she is, but she is afraid. Delpha is afraid of the things that she can’t control. She watched her mother dive into the water and never return. She remembers her father leaving, and never coming back. Delpha wants to fit in but believes that because of the fact that she is only “part” of either side that she never will. Her heart belongs to and with Cade. It has for years since she was 14 and they had their first kiss. But she fights the feelings that she has for him. She torments herself and him with her constant running away. Delpha needs to stop running away and face her fears. A darkness is waiting in the water for her. She needs to embrace who and what she is and those who choose to love her or else she will be lost. Cade is a powerful warlock and madly in love with Delpha. He tries to give her her space, but all he wants is to be with her. He lives with the heavy betrayal of what his ancestors did because the other supernaturals won’t let him forget. He knows that Delpha needs him and will do what he thinks is best for him to be able to help her.
Warlock’s Embrace by Alyssa Rose Ivy is the first book that I have read by this author and of the Willow Harbor series. I have several of the books, but making the time to read them is tough. LOL!! But this book is well done. We really see Delpha’s struggle with who and what she is. Her back and forth with Cade annoys me, but I understand her struggle. She’s seen a lot of things in her life that has her conflicted and confused. She’s fighting her feelings towards him, but she knows the truth of the matter. I applaud Cade for being the type of character that he is. He’s patient and kind and looking for ways to be there for Delpha. This story flows really well and is an enjoyable novel to read. I love that the author writes in backstories in the right places to give us information that we don’t know about the characters. The histories come in at the right places so that the reader feels engaged in the story. I will say that there are some questions that are left unanswered but that just guarantees my own return to Willow Harbor and soon.
There really isn’t anything that I don’t like about this book. There are a few minor spelling errors but there is nothing major that will distract or detract from this book. The story flows really well and the characters are engaging. As I said before, there are some questions that are left unanswered, but this is not a major issue for me as I’m sure that they will be answered in another book.
I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. I truly enjoyed reading this book. Willow Harbor is an engaging town and I look forward to returning very soon.
