The battle is far from over. When the lives of her loved ones are put in peril, who will Audrey turn to for help? On the surface, Audrey’s existence in the afterlife is coming together. But if things are so wonderful, why is Logan never far … Logan never far from her thoughts?
After learning that her family is the target of an unprecedented demonic siege Audrey puts all she’s gained in jeopardy by defying heavenly authorities and returning to Earth. Stranded at the place she once called home with the one person she’s been desperate to forget, she’ll face vicious monsters, betrayers, and a legion of demons with an insidious weapon that even her celestial sword can’t defeat.
Will Audrey’s mistakes in the afterlife be what destroys the lives of the ones she loves the most?

A phenomenal continuation
Of this great YA series. It has really gripped me and continued my reading of this series and will continue until the end of it. Well written, Julie Hall has some a fantastic job of creating this world for us of heaven and hell and the earthly realm caught inbetween. Truly beautifully written.
I love this take on “Life After”. I love the characters, and especially some of the characters who are not who they seem.
This was a great continuation! Warfare picks up a few months after Huntress and we see Audrey more comfortable in her new world with her friends and new trainer, Hugo. She soon learns that her family is the target of a Demonic operation and she’s willing to throw her new life away and defy the Heavens to save them. I really liked that there was a ton of character development and more action in this book, but the spirituality and religion were amped up. Since Logan has been on Earth, he’s more susceptible to temptation and Satan, which leads to his and Audrey’s relationship developing along with the empathy bond that they share. Julie continues to amaze me with the unique things that she throws into this series- Audrey’s Hair was like a mood ring that changed colors with her emotions and I found that one of the coolest things. This book was filled with action, betrayal, drama, twists and turns, and many times that I wanted to slap Audrey.

This book was incredible! Like I could say countless things about how powerful the conversations were between Audrey and Hugo as well as how…spicy (is that the right word for it?) things were between Audrey and Logan. Everything was so much more powerful than I expected, whether it was in a good or bad situation.
However, one thing I definitely want to say is that Audrey was VERY relatable. I was going through some struggles of my own and knowing what I was feeling lead to do, but wanting to against that feeling and do it anyway was something I could relate to. Never a good idea to go against! So thankful that the author really showed the powerful love God has for us even when we make mistakes and feel ashamed.
Can I take a moment to say the “bad guy” surprised me? Way to go in mixing things up when I had reasons why I thought the bad guy would be someone else!
Ooo also, can I take another moment to appreciate the excellent humor in this book, especially pertaining to the revealing of who Hugo and Joe are? Talk about priceless!
Definitely a fantastic read and one I would strongly recommend to YA readers, especially if you’re looking for a “different” Christian read with romance.

More Awesomeness!
I didn’t think that the second book in this series could get any more awesome than the first one but this one far surpasses it. Audrey gets stronger as she trains under her new mentor and she has to be stronger in order to face what is to come-the battle against the forces of evil trying to overtake her earth family. The epic battle was so well described by Ms Hall that I could imagine myself become a part of it. I could feel the heartache Audrey felt for those who suffered great injuries. She doesn’t see how much stronger she has become until she is able to step back during a lull and realize the countless number of demons she has destroyed. Then the panic as she witnessed her mother lose faith such that the protective barrier around her home started to crumble. Then her awe as she saw the spiritual strength of her brother uplift when no one else could. It brought tears to my eyes. My review here does not do justice to this awesome book! My only hope is that you as a reader will take up this book and see for yourselves just how awesome it is.
Warfare, by Julie Hall, is the second installment in her Life After series and is a definite read that will not disappoint.
The blurb starts with “The battle is far from over.” and let me tell you, that’s an understatement if I’ve ever seen one ;). This book has action, phenomenal writing, and the development of her characters is just, wow! (believe me, you’ll be debating between *speechless* and *this is pure awesomesauce!!*).
One of the characters that I grew to love and appreciate very much was most definitely Hugo. Like, really, what a character! His wisdom and guidance were just unique, and, as always with Julie’s writing, you’re in for a surprise with this one here… but, I promise, it’ll all make sense towards the end of the book ;).
What I especially love about this series is how easy the author makes it for the reader to be able to relate to Audrey (granted, not all the time), but I’m mostly referring to her spiritual life. Being this last issue one of the most central parts in these books (and one of my favorites <3) I really really loved how, despite her(/our) having already “settled” things with God in our relationship with Him, her(/our) life isn’t all rainbows and roses. It’s definitely not perfect, but that’s exactly the beauty of it. And oh wow, God’s grace, patience, and love despite our attitude in those moments are so undeserved but at the same time so awesome! And they're all so perfectly portrayed here! This book was a powerful reminder of those facts which, I hope, won’t leave me for a while.
All in all, a great read and the perfect continuation of an awesome series!
