WAR OF THE DAMNED (Relic Hunters Book 3)
By Martin Ferguson
5 out of 5 stars
I loved reading the book WAR OF THE DAMNED (Relic Hunters Book 3) by Martin Ferguson. It is a story that includes action, danger, and suspense. I love the characters of Adam and the other Relic Hunters. This time the team is trying to find relics and artifacts stolen by Hitler. In the process, they are up against deadly enemies and ghosts from Adam’s past. What does the future hold for Adam and his team? Read this book to find out. This is a story that had me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. The book has you on a non-stop journey that I didn’t want to stop reading until the final page. The story is brilliantly written, and the author makes the story and the characters come alive on the pages. Don’t miss out on an exciting and entertaining book that you won’t want to put down. I highly recommend reading it.
Having loved the previous two book in this series I was so ready to dive into this story and catch up with Adam and the rest of the gang of relic hunters from the British Museum. These books are primarily aimed at young adults, but as a 44 year old female reader I feel that they could be read and enjoyed by any age, especially if your a fan of action and adventure stories.
This story takes the gang on a fight against the Nazis and relics from WWII, flipping from the present day to the past starting with the evacuation of Dunkirk then the final push onward at the end of the war and the eventual liberation of Europe. It was an interesting story and shows that plenty of research was put into the writing of this book as the many small details in it’s plot is only enhanced by this. My only reason for not giving this book a 5 star review is that I felt that the balance of lingering too much in the past compared to the present day story was a little too much, but this is of cause just my own personal opinion.
On the whole I really did still enjoy this book as I liked the history of the story and the action that takes place while trying to find the Nazi gold. The writing was good, easy to read and full of the wicked adventure of have come to expect from this amazing author.
Martin Ferguson is back with yet another addition to his Relic Hunter series and let me say this…this book does not disappoint! Adam and the British Museum crew are back and they are back on a new mission. After a little side mission for a friend, the group meets up to discuss a new discovery…an “old” German U-Boat has been discovered and there are, of course, questions swirling around it due to its condition, the location where it is found and what exactly happened to cause it to disappear. Too bad there are others who are after it and the secrets that it holds. A twist comes in the form that one of the bad guys has a direct connection to one of their own. Prepare for intense excitement and lots of danger as Adam, Emma, and the others embark on their latest hunt along with flashbacks in time to when WWII was going on.
War of the Damned by Martin Ferguson is engaging from start to finish. I like the jumps back in time to Andrew Cooper as we follow his story during WWII. The story shifts from the various characters and it are told in the first person for each one. Adam is still struggling with beating the course for the Museum, and he still is battling his fear of water. I appreciate how engaging the characters are and how true to life they are each with their own unique flaws. I also like the unpredictable nature of the story. You never really know what is going to happen next and it keeps you on the edge of your seat.
I enjoyed this book immensely but it does have a few editorial issues throughout. The errors aren’t enough to distract from the overall storyline, but they are just noticeable when you come across them. When it comes to David’s situation, I was hoping for a bit more backstory with him and hoping that Adam would push him a bit for information at a certain point, but that doesn’t happen.
I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. This author has once again created a story that grabs you from the beginning and keeps you engaged to the end. There are just the right amount of tie-ins to the previous books, but nothing that has you completely lost if you’ve not read the previous books in this series. So yes, basically you can read this book as a standalone and be able to follow along with few problems. If you’re a fan of Martin Ferguson I highly recommend you pick this book up.
Now this is the type of books i love action packed twist turns i love it..I want more
