“War of Hearts” is a mail order bride story that goes totally wrong. Full of non stop suspense and peppered with stage robberies and skirmishes between the Indians and Calvery. It will keep you holding your breath at times and laughing at the silly antics of Jesse. It is a story written to where you feel like you are there experiencing it all. I highly recommend this be put on your to be read list.
An absolute joy to read! My first by this author but definitely not my last. The twists and turns had me laughing, sighing, crying and it was breath taking. The kind of book that would make an awesome movie!
A rootin tootin shoot-em up western with the calvary and Indians instead of cowboys and, of course, a love triangle! Virginia didn’t know what was ahead when she agreed to go West as a mail order bride! An eye opening story if you like to learn about our forefathers life.
For me this was the best book ever. Virginia was going through some thing, and i needed to hear what she was telling herself for my own life. I recently lost my husband and have been angry. Instead of being happy for the 23 years we had i resented the ones i will miss.
Great story and i think it was a fantastic read.
Virginia is one of the most selfish women I have ever read about as a heroine. The two heroes are not much better. Charles Harcourt is a self-serving man who reneges on a promise to his mail order bride to gain favor by marrying the Colonel’s daughter. Jesse was a half-breed Indian posing as a white man stealing from the fort and stages to feed his people. Although, there is growth in Virginia, it takes a kidnapping to make her see some sense. Her best choice would have been to go back east without getting married. There are much better men out there than these two. This is well-written, but I just did not like the main characters or the story.
This wasn’t my favorite book by this author! Virginia goes to Fort Laramie to meet her fiancé to find out that he married someone else. She gets a job at the forts store and meets Jesse! Suddenly, she’s torn between the two men. Virginia to me was selfish and self centered and didn’t consider anyone else’s feelings! Lt. Harrington, her fiancé as a first rate cad! There was plenty of action between the stage coach robberies and Indian attacks. I’d recommend this book if you like western romance. I was glad it all worked out in the end!
The book was a little slow to start but did pick up shortly after the beginning. Another well written story, with lots of trials and tribulations along the way. The heroine matures as the story progresses and learns we all have decisions we must make in life. Overall this was a really good book, well written with a HEA.
When I read the description of this book I wasn’t quite sure how the story was going to unfold. One woman with 2 love interests? As I read the book I was very pleasantly surprised. There is lots of adventure, some sorrow, mystery but a HEA. A very well written story, fun to read.
