Of the Winter sisters, why did he have to lust over the one with the most scandal-tainted reputation?
A man on a mission to quickly wed a heiress to save his estates, Cameron, the Earl of Hertford, ended up dancing with Eugenia Winter, one of the five sisters who was the one with the taint and most unsuitable. You see Cam was known as the “Proper of Proper.” He could not help but feel he was going to sell himself to obtain the funds needed.
Eugie could not deny how utterly handsome the Earl of Hertford was but she could see his stern look when he took her hand. She knew he had heard the rumors about her as had everyone of respectibility.
But she was determined to discover which men at the house party were worthy of her sisters and which were not. She had nothing to lose!
So she kissed the Earl when they ended up alone. Sigh….
Scarlett Scott has woven another swoon worthy story that is beyond compare. This series just keeps getting better and better if that is possible. I fell in love with these two wounded souls and could only hope to see their attraction evolve as I turned the pages. I seriously cannot wait for further stories in this series and hope Rand, Viscount Aylesford is up soon!!
I’m loving this whole series, but Wanton in Winter one may be my favorite so far!! Cam and Eugie are so wrong for each other that it was so right!! He is the Prince of Proper in need of a wealthy bride above reproach and she is the Winter sister with tarnished (unfairly) reputation that is cynical of all gentleman’s intentions. When these two meet at the opening ball thrown by the Winter Family, sparks fly in more than one way!! This was a quick read with just enough SPICE to keep you warm on a winter’s night!!!
What a sweet delightful read. An heiress of a tradesman and an Earl. Miss Eugenia Winter was a beautiful, loving, innocent young lady. When she rejected a Baron as a suitor because she found out he was not what he said he was. He was livid and spread malicious lies about her virtue to all and sundry in the ton who would listen. Not one man wanted her, she was ruined. She became bitter and jaded thinking all men were not to be trusted. That they were only after her and her sisters’ dowries. She meets Cameron Blythe, the Earl of Hertford at a ball and they treated each other rudely. Later her brother Dev hold a country party at their home for the holidays. Many eligible bachelors were invited. Among them was Cameron. Cameron ton nickname was the Prince of Proper. He decided long ago that he would not bring shame to his family name as his father did. Unfortunately, his coffers were almost let and he needed an heiress to fill them and save his mother and the estate from penury. He was considering any of the Winter sisters except the one that tempted him, Eugie. She had a reputation and he believed what he had been told about her. Now Eugie had devised a plan that since she was considered ruined already, she would plot to separate the fortune hunters from honest suitors. This was the least she could do for her three sisters so they would not suffer her fate. Unfortunately for her it backfired and landed her in Cameron’s arms. Both of them could not understand what was wrong with them when they were around each other. Cameron did not want to marry someone with a scandal and Eugie did not want to marry a fortune hunter and yet each time they came together their kisses felt like they had been drugged. Eugie could not think straight and Cameron could not stop if he tried. As much as they tried to stay away from each other it did not work. However, Eugie was afraid to trust him or any man after what was done to her. Cameron had his work cut out for him if he wanted to win her affections and prove he cared for her and not her dowry. A hot and steamy story. A good read. I received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

When Eugie spurned an odious, fortune-hunting suitor, the last thing she expected was for him to spread shocking lies about her. So Eugie plans to find out which of the noblemen at the house party are fortune hunters. A kiss in the garden between Cam & Eugie rocks both of them & when one kiss turns into another, and then another, so the Prince of Proper & the lady with a ruined reputation find themselves drawn to each other.
Oh those Winters!
What a read, I couldn’t put it down. I loved both Cam & Eugie, the chemistry between them sizzled, yes they fell in lust almost at once but they tried to fight the attraction. They also wanted to know each other, I loved how honest Cam was & how he proved his love for Eugie. I also loved how Eugie came to trust again. A lovely read
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
Another AMAZING story by Scarlett Scott!
I am convinced that it is impossible for Scarlett Scott to write anything other than amazing books. I LOVE this series, and Wanton in Winter did not disappoint! Cam & Eugie are *sigh* perfect for each other; and the chemistry is SCORCHING between these two.
Cameron Blythe, the Earl of Hertford, is known as the “Prince of Proper”. He has strived to live an honorable life, free of scandal. Cam views the Winter sisters as title hunters, looking down upon them due to the *gasp* “stench of trade” surrounding them. But, they are heiresses. Due to an inherited financial mess, Cam needs an heiress…just not Eugenia Winter with her scandalous reputation.
According to gossip, Eugie is ruined & not a suitable potential wife for Cam. He wants to avoid her, but finds her irresistible. Following one kiss, and much to his dismay, Cam cannot stop thinking about Eugie. She is not immune either, but continues to deny it.
Cam eventually admits his desire for Eugie, but isn’t sure that he necessarily needs HER. As they spend more time together, Cam realizes how wrong he was. He begins to fall in love with Eugie, but is he too late? Can Eugie ever trust him & his intentions?
Scarlett Scott continues to be one of my top 5 historical romance authors. I so enjoy her novels & her novellas. When reading her novellas, such as the ones in this series, I don’t feel as if they’re novellas. Ms Scott has THE BEST novellas, because they don’t feel like the typical “rushed” novellas.
Whether novel or novella, she has the amazing ability to make you feel like you’re right there in the scenes, witnessing the stories unfold; laughing, smiling, hurting, & crying with the characters…and feeling as if you know them personally. It’s bittersweet when her stories come to an end. I love seeing the characters get their HEAs, but I hate the loss of the story ending!
Read this book. Read ANY of her books. You will not be disappointed!
I received a free advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
WOW! Awesome book! I love this series! I enjoyed Eugenia and Cam’s story. Their love story is filled with laughter, love and the right amount of HOT steamy interactions. She been burned in the past and doesn’t trust any of the men that her brother and wife have invited to the house party and she is determined to save her sisters from fortune hunters. What she didnt except to find was the one man who makes her heart beat fast. He’s a Earl who doesn’t break the rules or allows scandal into his life and when he meets Eugenia he can’t keep his lips or hands off her. Their story will have you turning the pages to see where they will next take you. It is definitely a page turner, well written and you will laugh, cry and feel the steam coming off of them right along with them. You will not be disappointed and if you have not read the first book or the second you totally need to pick them up and fall in love the the brother and his wife and Bea and her man!
