Autistic. Foster Child. Runaway. The cards had been stacked against Special Agent Carrie Sparks almost from the very beginning. But she hadn’t just survived—she’d triumphed. Handpicked by the creator of the FBI’s Complex Crime Unit, Carrie did her job—and she did it well.Well enough to get noticed… Lorcan needed help finding a friend’s missing child. Carrie Sparks was the only resource he had.
Carrie wasn’t so sure she wanted anything to do with the man who’d made her nervous from the very first moment they’d met. He was always watching her, judging her.
And she always came up short with him.
Still…a little girl was out there, alone. Wasn’t that all that mattered?
Carrie agreed to help him because she saw herself in the young runaway. But while they’re searching for Ashleigh, someone else is searching for Carrie.
And what he wanted wasn’t good…

Not as good as watching as it NEEDS editing, there are lots of missing words and terrible english.
02/11/2021 Calle J. Brookes wins again with “Wanting” (nook), her second (2nd) book in this series. I loved the story of Carrie and Sebastian which kept my emotions in a turmoil. More angst, drama, tragedy and determination. Reading “Wanting” was another all-nighter.
Usually you get one assignment/case/crime in a romantic suspense, case solved, they fall in love, book over. Not this one with almost three separate crimes to solve it makes for a wonderful read. Smart and procedural enough to make this story and the characters believable, I would read this one again.
Loved this book and the series. I have read several of the author’s books and can’t wait to read more! I get started on a book and do not want to put it down until the end!
I really like how this series is progressing. With such a large ensemble cast of characters, there is never a lack of where the storylines can go and the variety of plotlines to pick from. After the sneak peak into the next book, can’t wait to get it started.
this is a good story, sad but true, about the runaways, I have read several of the book, this is adult content and words but the story is great.
I enjoyed this book especially with one of the main characters being the Autism Spectrum. My son is high functioning autistic and he has several of the same habits such as repeating certain words and having to pace while thinking. I appreciated Sebastian treating her more like an average person and seeing her potential instead of coddling her all the time as her teammates do.
Another Great
Carrie has Autism, but she is a terrific computer geek. Sebastian is another team leader at PAVAD, but comes to her for help finding a friends daughter. But out becomes so much more.
Read the entire series
I love that the main characters include a woman who is brilliant and has autism. The story is realistic in that it provides a realistic picture of the autistic spectrum. but is suspenseful, entertaining and romantic at the same time.
Couldn’t put the book down. Excellent story line!
Awesome
Enjoyed the book but in the end, you knew what the “bad guy” was looking for but not why. No idea what the “sought after” item contained. I surmise I have to read the next book in the series to find the answer. I really don’t care to read books where one book just leads into the next. The book was well written and I enjoyed the context but it’s almost like the author forgot to add the most important aspect.
Different from what I usually read. I like it.. It’s good to read different authors.
Interesting crime story with romance added.
Hard to follow at times. Found myself going back to previous chapters when a character was reintroduced. Also too much emphasis on the main character like she was a goddess.
Enjoy the entire series. Good reads.
Loved this book
Good read!
Ready for the next in the series!
