Welcome to Hollywood, where wet dreams come true. I fell for Marlee the second I met her- gorgeous smile, unimpressed by my stardom… bendy. Not even remotely interested in me. Of course the girl of my dreams has to be engaged to her hometown high-school sweetheart. Nothing’s ever easy, right?Until they break up.And she moves in with me. The only person who can help her practice for her next role … in with me.
The only person who can help her practice for her next role is me.
Because Marlee isn’t just new to Hollywood.
She’s a virgin.

This story is a basic lesson in communication. He fell in love the first moment he saw her while on the set of one of his music videos. She had loved him since she was a teen and had his posters up on her walls. Neither had the courage to tell the other their feelings, instead settling on being just friends. That is until she needs his help with something. Things start to change after that, but can they admit their feelings before it’s too late?
This is the second book in the Ryder Brothers series, and features Jake. (Each can be read as a stand alone.) He’s not quite the player his brothers are(were,) but he isn’t a stranger to the bedroom. She, on the other hand, not as familiar with it. Her and her fiance were saving themselves til marriage after all. Don’t worry, she’s a quick learner. 😉 This book is all about the sex. It’s a slow burn, but once it happens, there’s no stopping them. Jake is really quite a swoon worthy character. He’s this big shot rock star with a body like a god, but he has his eyes on only one girl. Unfortunately she’s keeping him in the friend zone. We get to see his softer and more vulnerable side. It’s really sweet and heartbreaking. While she does love him, she can’t be with him because of her desire and dream to make it in Hollywood and already made a deal with the devil. She’s enjoying the lessons he’s giving her though. The characters in this romance don’t have any pasts or demons that are keeping them apart, like in many romances… it’s strictly their own undoing. There’s no real big break up scene (since they were never really together to begin with,) though there is the moment when she has to move on and that basically ends things between them. There is however, a pretty good ‘grand gesture.’
There isn’t an over abundance of laughs, but the book in general is pretty light and fun… and hot and heavy. (wink wink) Due to this hot and heavy content, I would recommend this for mature readers. The story flows smoothly. I would have liked to see more in the ending. It felt like it ended rather abruptly. Albeit happily.
In Want we meet the Jake, the oldest Ryder brother. He ends up becoming friends with Marlee and circumstances lead her to becoming his roommate. I loved the premise of this book, a friends to lovers romance. Jake is such a great character, he is so sweet and is taken by Marlee immediately. Their chemistry is great. This book has a great balance of
All in all, a quick enjoyable story. It did feel like it could have been longer, but I really did like it. ! I can’t wait to read about the 3rd brother.
I’m in love with Jake Ryder! This man…wow!
Jake is a closet sweetheart! He’s warm, loving, compassionate, and caring. But don’t let his softer side fool you. He’s also sexy, confident, and a little rough-around-the-edges with an alpha streak that will melt you. One look at that smile and you know you’re in for a fun ride.
I really liked Marlee but I did struggle with her a bit. She’s definitely determined, sometimes to a fault, and she has a fun personality. But there were definitely times I wanted to shake some sense into her.
In the end, I was very pleased with both characters and how they interacted with one another. Their story was sweet and swoony, wild and dirty. It’s a great addition to your collection if you’re a sucker for friends-to-lovers romances like I am.
I really enjoyed Jake and Marlee they were really fun characters and being put in the friend zone as bestfriends sharing a flat the chemistry is pouring off them and when Jake sees his chance hes going to pursue it. Jake was very confident and didn’t use his fame as leverage but he is Marlees dream come true since she was a little girl with the memories of him and these two are so good together, it doesn’t get any better then that. If you love brothers and friends to lovers books this is the one for you.
Well I’ll be honest I didn’t like this story as much as I didn’t the first brothers book. However it’s a friend’s to lovers romance that will make you want to dive head first in.
Jake is just a big softy when it comes to Marlee. He will do just about anything to keep the friendship going.
Marlee has no clue he has a crush on her at first but soon realize that some times life plays out different that what you expect. She is offered a contract to be a fake girlfriend for someone but wants Jake to show her the ropes.
It’s a fling at first with so much potential. My favorite part is just how passionate he is, in and out of the bedroom.
It’s a slow build to a solid romance that will steal your breath.
Want is the second in the Ryder Brother series and introduces us to Jake and Marlee. They are the best of besties and when Marlee decides to try and further her career by moving to LA Jake’s is the obvious place to stay. Lucky Jake because from the get-go you know that he has got it bad for Marlee and she’s pretty attracted to him too. But you know how it goes there’s no room for the ‘dance of love’ between friends…..or is there? Marlee is offered her dream job but attached to it is Richard Thurgood who will now be referred to as ‘Douche Dude’. ‘Douche Dude’ wants to be seen with Marlee and for her to be his pretend ‘girlfriend’. He tells her it will be good for her image to be seen with him in all the right places and with all the people, but really he just wants to get down and dirty with her. So herein lies the dilemma for Marlee, she doesn’t have the experience to handle ‘Douche Dude’ and needs lessons in getting down and dirty. Luckily for her, Jake is more than willing and more than able to provide the necessary instruction in these matters. So it begins and slowly they begin to realise, with each lesson, that they have real feelings for each other. Their story is fun and flirty with more than a few moments that will make you giggle. It’s a rom-com that will make you smile and keep the smile on your face for quite a while. It’s got the sizzle factor for sure. So what will Marlee choose? Love or ‘Douche Dude’? Well, as Jake is a Ryder Brother I think you can work that one out.
Marlee is a transplant trying to make it in LA. He is Going to help her in more ways than one! This was a cute story, I liked that he helped build her confidence up, even though ultimately she had to figure that out on her own.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
There’s a lot about this book to like. Jake knows he’s in love with Marlee from the outset. He knows how much he wants her, not just sexual to but also to be with. He’s incredibly in touch with his feelings and emotions. Marlee on the other hand wants Hollywood, the bright lights and the stars, and she’s done something to ensure that they will be hers.
So we have a plot set up in which she can’t be with Jake, and yet they get together. All the necessary tension for a romance novel.
The downsides, the ending is abrupt. Very abrupt, and with a plot device that doesn’t get its full reveal. So that was a little confusing. But, it’s a great companion to the previous one in this series and I’m looking forward to the third.
4.5 Stars for Want by Kayti McGee
After getting dumped by her fiancée, Marlee moves in with Jake Ryder as friends and roommates only. Jake hates being in the friend zone, so when Marlee asks him to help her out to prepare for a part she got, he doesn’t hesitate. Will her proposition finally get Jake out of the friend zone, or is he destined to be there forever.
Kayti McGee has written a sexy friends to lovers book. It’s full of witty one liners that will make you laugh and fall in love with Jake and Marlee.
This is the second book to the Ryder brothers series. Jake is a song writer and he has a roommate Marlee. Marlee is a dancer and wants to go to the top. She gets a contract that will get her there with help but she doesn’t know what to do so she turns to her roommate/best friend. Jake thinks about it but realizes it’s a good thing since he is in love her maybe he can win her that way. Jake and Marlee are perfect for one another but the career she wants separates them. Can she have both? Why yes she can and she finally realizes it before it was too late. Can he have the love of his life? Why yes he can but first he had to let her go so she can realize herself the way he looks at her and the way she dances that she is good and that she loves him. I love them together. This is a really good book. Can’t wait for the next one to come out.
I want to make music with Jake! Jake and Marlee’s story was so good. I can’t wait for more the of the Ryder brothers
4 1/2 STARS FOR WANT!! What a sweet sexy story that keep me turning pages. Jake and Marlee’s story was hot, sexy and fun watching these two fall for each other. The Ryder Brothers series has been wonderful and I can’t wait to see what the last book will bring. If you have started this series what are you waiting for.
Oh I really really enjoyed this book! Jake and Marlee are just too cute together! She’s a fun loving, wide eyed and slightly naive girl from Missouri and he’s a sensitive, caring and kind guy who’s had a crush on her for a long time! Their attraction and subsequent teaching relationship may have started as as a favour but it developed naturally into a sweet loving genuine thing! I loved it!
I loved this book! I have to admit, the heroine, Marlee, made some crazy choices for her career, but her character is seriously naive in so many ways. I wasn’t put off by this aspect at all. It made her character so much better when she does find herself and her confidence. And Jake. Oh hotness that is Jake. He is Marlee’s best friend and will help her reach her dreams, even if its complete torture on his heart to do it. Then, he sets out to change her mind, to win her heart. To make her see her options aren’t limited. The question is, can he? Does Marlee even want him as anything more than a friend? He has some… fun ways to entice and help her along the way. This book has loads of steamy, sexy, funny, emotional, craziness that will keep you wanting to read until it’s done. Great book!
OMFG I AM IN LOVE AND LUST WITH JAKE! This book made my heart sing and sigh and made me incredibly happy. It was beautiful, fun, charming, sweet and spicy too. The story flowed so well and was paced ever so right. The plot pops and was thoroughly memorable.
Another great thing that stuck out for me was how this book used both humor and heart. One minute you could giggle and the next you could feel your heart clench. It was such a great combination and these characters are really something too. I fell in love with this story and will absolutely recommend it to many of my reader friends!
Want gets a TEMPTING AND SATISFYING FIVE SHOOTING STARS!
WANT by Kayti McGe
Want by Kayti McGee is book 2 in the Ryder Brothers Series. This is Jake Ryder’s story. Want us a friends (roommates) to lovers romance. What can I say about Jake and Marlee besides their chemistry is undeniable but yet they misread each other throughout most of the book. I think deep down they know what the other wants but Marlee only has her career goal in mind. On the other hand, Jake won’t admit his feelings and realizes he needs to let her go since it’s not what her wants.
I really liked Jake’s character despite his faults. He met Marlee years ago when she was a dancer in his music video. It was love at first sight. At the time, Marlee was engaged. He never seemed to move on staying out of committed relationships. He has an endearing soul which causes him to go for what he wants even if against what Marlee wants. He also sees what she doesn’t in herself. On the other hand, he lost his passion for what he loves to to, record music for his fans. Marlee brings that passion back into his life and he knows this.
I will have to say, Marlee is not a favorite character of mine. It’s not that I don’t like her but she is willing to enter a contractual relationship to further her Hollywood career. She has been in love with Jake since his days in the band with his brothers. Deep down, she knows that this is not the way to make it in Hollywood. Thus ignoring her midwestern values. The other issue I have is she has little confidence in her own ability. I grant you, most people have at least some doubt ourselves but to compromise ones values just seems to add to that insecurity.
Overall I liked Want but wanted a little more. Maybe some more details about their pasts that made them who they are. We know a few basics but not the emotions of mentioned or even unmentioned events. On a positive note, Jake was willing to let her go but in doing so made Marlee realize that she is good enough. Good enough for Hollywood and most of all him. He gave her the confidence she was lacking. I received an Advance Review Copy in exchange for an honest review.
4 out of 5 stars.
I am loving the concept of the Ryder Brothers series! Stories about three different brothers by three different authors! This time around we have a new-to-me author, Kayti McGee. In Want we get Jake Ryder and the woman he wants, Marlee, but whom he value her friendship more than anything.
Jake wanted Marlee since the first time he saw her, but she was engaged to another man. But now she needs his help and this may just be what he needed! Marlee found herself without a fiancé and living with her friend Jake. She has a new role and needs some help, and Jake may be the one to step up and help her, in more ways than one!
Want by Kayti McGee was such a sweet and delightful read. I loved the friendship and chemistry between Jake and Marlee. A friends-to-lovers story with two great characters and a story I loved! This have been my first Kayti McGee book, but it will not be my last!
Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens Book Blog.
Happy reading!
Fun, flirty and sexy with some awesome one liners.
A quick and witty friends to lovers story about the second Ryder brother Jake and the ever playful and rambling Marlee. LA Rockstar meet the Mid West.
Great storyline to keep you turning the pages and get deeper involved with the relationship between Jake and Marlee. Lots of laughs and some series sizzle between these two that will have you just a little red faced.
My only downfall with book is the ending and no epilogue, other than that it’s a good read.
“If it hurts, I’ll hold her. If it makes her cry, I’ll wipe away her tears. And if it makes her mine, even just for tonight, I’ll take everything she’s offering.”
Jake Ryder has a problem. He’s been in love with Marlee for years but she was taken. Now, after her break up with her fiance, she’s come to LA and has moved in with him. The problem is, he’s put himself in the friend zone with her and he can’t get out. Until she comes to him, asking him for a favor. A big one. How is he going to do this, and then watch her walk away?
Marlee Benson wants to make it big. Be a star. Be in control of her career. And she’s in love with her roommate. Faced with the opportunity of a lifetime, she needs his help if she’s going to pull off this next role. But, when the line between teacher and student become blurred, and emotions get involved, will she listen to her head and be able to do what she thinks she needs to in order to advance her career? Or, will she listen to her heart?
Ok, the chemistry between these two is off the charts. And the hot scenes are just that – HOT.
Here is where I had my problem and why I gave it 3 stars. Those hot scenes are what carried this book. The plot – no so much. Marlee comes across as weak. She’s so insecure she’s willing to pimp herself out for the sake of her career. She has no self-esteem at all, and can’t see how wrong this deal is. I have a hard time connecting with a weak female character. Jake, while at times my heart broke for him, fell seriously flat in the alpha department. If he claims to have loved her, he would have never agreed to do it, or let her do it. He just went along with it, knowing what she was doing, and for all intents and purposes, taught her to be a whore. Maybe he’s not the kind to throw punches, but he certainly has enough connections and celebrity to have done something to ruin this guy. In this day and age, when sexual harassment and abuse is forefront in the media, with the #MeToo movement going strong, I was disappointed in this story line, and in the characters.
There are so many other story lines that could have brought these two together. I was sadly surprised that the author chose this one. I just feel there was missed opportunity here.
Ryder brother one check.
Bring on Ryder brother two.
Come along Jakey boy, time to show me your moves.
Marlee Reed dancer and wannabe actress becomes the housemate of Jake bringing with her the scent of jasmine tea and sexual tension.
Banana anyone?
Marlee is eager to get on with her career without any kind of help from her sexy housemate. Scratch that, there is something he can help with and it involves getting nakid and bananas.
Want is humorous, sexy and sweet. It also has a message that resonates with current affairs; it is not ok for a man or a woman to be expected to give sexual favours or put up with unwanted attention for a job or for advancement of their career. It’s wrong and needs to be stopped.
Brother two done, bring on the third.
