A young woman plunges from a Las Vegas sightseeing helicopter, landing in the Pirate’s lagoon in front of the Treasure Island Hotel in the middle of the 8:30 Pirate Show. Almost everyone writes her off as another Vegas victim.
But Lucky O’Toole smells a rat. She’s head of Customer Relations at The Babylon, the newest, most opulent mega-casino and resort on the Strip, so she’s got a lot on her … lot on her plate: the Adult Film industry’s annual awards banquet, a spouse-swapping convention, sex toy purveyors preying on the pocket-protector crowd attending ElectroniCon… Still, Lucky can’t resist turning over a few stones.
When a former flame is one of the snakes she uncovers, Lucky’s certain she’s no longer dealing with an anonymous Sin City suicide. To top it all off, Lucky’s best friend Teddie — Las Vegas’ finest female impersonator — presses to take their relationship to the next level. Leave it to Lucky to attract a man who looks better in a dress than she does.
Lucky must manage the Babylon’s onslaught of outrageous festivities, solve a murder, and struggle to keep her life and libido from spinning out of control… not to mention keep her balance in six inch heels.

I don’t know about you, but I happen to find Las Vegas to be hilarious. Flying in the face of the “what happens in Vegas” mantra, author Deborah Coonts exposes much of its silliness in her LUCKY O’TOOLE VEGAS ADVENTURE SERIES.
Having lived there for fifteen years, Coonts gives a behind-the-scenes look at what happens on the other side of the …
I am hooked! Lucky O’Toole is a marvelous character–full of fun and snark–and her Vegas adventures make me want to hop on a plane and go there!
Don’t you love discovering a fun new (to you) series? Deborah Coonts’s Wanna Be Lucky? is just that: fun, witty, quirky, and surprising. That last one is important to me. I love to be surprised! The other thing I love is an author who skillfully combines mystery with yoks. I am soooo looking forward to reading the rest of the books in this series.
clipped along at a good pace, kept my interest, good twists and turns
Our heroine is in charge of customer relations at a major Vegas casino. Sometimes that involves some rather unusual situations. It is Vegas, after all.
This is something of a detective mystery with a strong female detective and a definite Vegas flair. The story is very well written, easy to read and very engaging. While Vegas provides the …
This is sometimes humorous mystery about Lucky O’Toole in Las Vegas who had a hard life but has a good job now and a lot of interesting people in her life. Adding this author to my list of favorite authors.
WANNA GET LUCKY? was a fun, fast read from Deborah Coonts. Her protagonist, Lucky O’Toole, is a problem-solver for a Las Vegas casino. Very quickly she’s forced to deal with a death from a tour helicopter, the Adult Video Awards convention, and other crazy (Vegas normal?) antics.
The promised mystery held my interest, but it was the over-the-top …
I must have read this book before I was writing reviews, so I thought I’d reread it. I’m so glad I did. This is a funny well thought out story of murder with some romance too. And it just happens to be set in my favorite spot, Vegas. A woman falls to her death from a helicopter at the TI pirate show on the strip. The helicopter happens to be owned …
Loved it
A fun read. Enjoyed the book.
Great book!!
I love all the “Lucky” books. She is a woman of authority but has her doubts and insecurities, even in her high-stakes job. Fun to learn the back workings of a Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
Love this series. Once you read one you want or can’t wait for the next one
Very funny, entertaining. Good read
Read the book that started it all! This is a fun and entertaining read that introduces us to Lucky O’Toole and her adventures running security at the Babylon casino on the Las Vegas Strip. As if that isn’t enough, her mother runs a bordello. Murder and mayhem disrupt her already crazy life in this first book of the series.
Lucky O’Toole is brilliant, sexy, tough, compassionate, likeable, perceptive, resilient, courageous, charming, highly motivated, and just a little undecided, with a very mild case of “who am I and how did I get here”. Plus she’s working in Las Vegas and she might be persuaded to get romantic if she meets the right guy. She’s a person who gets the …
I really enjoyed the book because there was enough to keep me interested.
The characters were believable but not so many that I would need a scorecard.
I found myself reading late at night because I was really caught up in the story.
I recommend this book to all age groups because it is enjoyable and kept me interested. I can’t wait to read the …
These books are fun! Love the witty, sarcastic exchanges. The bigger story tracks through well with smaller catastrophically thrown in to keep the pages turning. I’m addicted to Lucky OToole
I like these characters, looking forward to continuing with the series. Great mystery and I love the unusual view of Vegas
This is the book that got me started with Lucky . . . a fun and well built character who easily sucks you into the plot. I’m on my 4th “Lucky” novel and looking forward to more.
