Ava White has it all: a great job, two successful kids in college, a loving father. Change is highly overrated and for other, more adventurous, people. But then her father disappears. Poof. He wandered off, meandering around like Marco Polo to goodness only knows where. And for some reason, a Texas liberation organization seems to be all too curious about his whereabouts. Ava flies across the … world on a hunch and is stuck having to rely on a handsome, if grouchy, tour-guide and a motley group of travel companions to guide her to her father’s birthplace. Dodging tazer-happy liberationists, her beloved daughter, and goats, she races across the wilds of Northern Spain, hoping to find her father before it’s too late.

This book has multiple characters with different drama going on all at once. It kept me jumping from one mindset to another. Traci really makes you think and feel with this book.

Hillarious rom-com, sweet, and entertaining with so many laugh out loud moments. The setting is Texas, starring a single mother of two, and the plot includes her missing dad; plenty of characters that you can relate to and even categorize as the ones you love to love or love to hate! Fans of Janet Evanovich or Lois Greiman will enjoy this author as the writing is the same style…so, find a cozy corner, grab your drink of choice, put up the do not disturb sign because once you start this book you’ll find it hard to put down and you certainly won’t want to be interrupted. No spoilers in my review, you’ll just have to read the book! I unhesitatingly recommend it. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Boodsprout and am pleased to provide my honest review.
Our heroine is an anxiety ridden lady who is always stressed over taking care of others. Case in point: She is off Spain to track down here 80 year old father who wandered off on his own. Chaos ensues.
This is a hilarious story which embodies Murphy’s Law: If anything can go wrong, it will. Our heroine bounces from one misstep to the next, all the while surrounded by crazy characters and confronted by even crazier situations. I loved it. The story sucked me in from the beginning and I just couldn’t put it down as I had to see what disaster would befall her next. Overall, it made for a highly enjoyable read which kept my far too entertained for my own good.
Highly recommended.

Wanderlost: The Marvelous Misadventures of Ms Ava White by Traci Highland is a Laugh Out Loud story that will keep you entertained from the first page. Ava is a divorced woman whose two children are in college, her father is in a nursing home and she has not seen her mother since she abandoned Ava as a small child. Some of Ava’s “misadventures” remind me of Lucille Ball and some of the situations that Lucy and Ethel would get themselves into. The plot and characters are well developed and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story. Every chapter was amusing as well as full of adventure.
I loved the dialog from each of the characters. I could almost see and hear them throughout the book. I cannot say enough about this story. I highly recommend it!

What a hilarious story, it has humor, suspense, and romance and goats!
The author has a knack for writing that brings her readers in.
The characters were lovable and real.
The plot was enjoyable.
I want to see more from this author.
Cute, enjoyable read about a divorced empty nester having a “mid-life crisis” that involves a search in Spain for her missing father, who’s always been the one to save her. Now she has to save him since everyone thinks he’s a terrorist. Along the way she finds romance with her tour guide.
Requires a suspension of belief, but I was game – felt like I could be Ava given the right circumstances. Author does a great job with the main character’s voice. Romance, anxiety, and empty nest themes. ARC had many typos that were noticeable, but it didn’t detract too much from the reading.

This was a quick read. It flowed so well that I was half finished in a short time which is notable as I read every word. While I did enjoy it there were things that needed attention, about which I emailed the author.
The first chapter, which was the part given as a teaser, had no bearing on the story. It was there for unknown reasons.
Potential spoiler alert.
The real story involves Ava trying to find her father, Raul, who’s disappeared from his retirement home without a trace, a renegade group called The Texas Star, Ava’s grown daughter and son and a sexy trail guide named Borja. Ava takes off for Spain to try find her father. The FBI contacts her daughter concerned that her grandfather who be a terrorist. The Texas Star is trying to find Raul to convince him, at gunpoint if necessary, to hand over the “treasure” he went to Spain to find. Traci hasn’t given much description, but it doesn’t affect the story. It’s fast-paced and exciting.; a thoroughly enjoyable read. Three stars due to repeated words and typos.

3.5 stars! What a cute story! Ava White is in her 40’s and works in the hospitality industry in Texas, but her life changes suddenly when she gets a call that her elderly father has disappeared. We get to follow along on her adventure, while getting snippets from her two grown children and their thoughts. When Ava is in Spain, she has can’t help but have little mishaps, such as asking for “coca” while wanting a Coca Cola but they think she’s asking for drugs, lol! Ava is awkward and never puts herself first, so she’s lost her identity with work and motherhood, and Wanderlost takes us on her journey of finding herself while keeping us entertained along the way. I enjoyed reading it and look forward to more from Traci Highland.

Sometimes you have to get lost to find what you really need
Ava White is a mess. She has anxiety and low self-esteem. She is divorced and has raised her children with some help from her dad. Her family is everything to her and now that the kids are off at college, she has turned her focus to her job. Ava’s dad has moved to a senior living facility and they don’t see each other as much as they used to. One day, he disappears and Ava’s world is turned upside down. Looking for him becomes an adventure for the whole family. This book had great character development, a lot of laughs, and people jumping to incorrect conclusions. I really enjoyed this book and I think that this author writes some wonderful stories. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I think this is the first book I have ever read by this author and what a treat it is. Ava is a very realistic character with a few flaws and issues, I like her because she is also driven, very determined and a warrior when it comes to her family. Her adventure is very entertaining and I think her dilemma is a much needed wake-up call for her to realize that there is life for her after the empty nest. I think she finds herself again and her ability to do so, shows that she is strong and does have something left to offer pouring most of her life into her kids. Love Borja too, he is so calm, collective and protective of her. Heartwarming and hilarious story which I very much enjoyed reading. I really enjoyed how the author wrote this book. It was written with a lot of humor. I enjoyed the plot and the character’s. It was an easy to read book that kept my attention throughout the book. This is a beginning of a great series I am sure!
Wanderlost is a very interesting story. It kept my interested through out the story. It was well written. I enjoyed reading about all the characters. I look forward to reading more from this author.

A divorced mother of 2 is set on an adventure of her life. She is searching for her father who has gone missing. The storyline is seen through the eyes of Ava, Emma, Billy, Borja and other characters. Through these eyes we learn about the other characters and how things are not always what they seem.
A funny and at times a bit of reality story. Enjoyed seeing Ava evolve.

This is the first time in reading this author with the story luring me into the pages. What I encountered was a delightful story that entertained me thanks to the writing and the characters. Ava takes us on that adventure getting taken here and there. Along with that you are given a bit of danger with humor and not forgetting romance. If things could happen they seem too. This was one crazy story but enjoyed it alot.
Ditzy American let loose in Europe –
2.5stars
I wanted to like this story. The blurb seemed promising, but I found it hard to follow this story. It jumped from the main character, Ava, to others with seemingly no purpose, and I did not like the characterization — poor, stupid American woman who bumbles along from one crisis to the next. I lost all interest after an extremely long scene involving Cuba Libres for breakfast! Even the vague “secrets” that Ava and her daughter keep hinting at could not maintain my interest enough to finish.
I believe this was meant as a comedy but I did not find it so. The foreign-environment-challenged, stupid ugly American trope bugged me to no end.

The paramedics are putting Mrs. Forsythe on the stretcher and no one has noticed all the numerous uh, “toys” on the bed! Knowing Mrs. Forsythe, one of their repeat customers, would be embarrassed to have the Happy Humble Inn staff see this, and might not ever come back, Ava White rushed to gather them all and hide them. She shoves them in a hair dryer bag and runs to the elevator, only to slam into a huge man while the bag rips and 15 naughty “toys” drop all over the floor, many of them now flashing and buzzing, moving like worms around their feet! Down on her knees on the floor, one last, hot pink “toy” in her fist, the man runs off the elevator while her boss looks at her and says she has an urgent call she has to take. [Note: Reviewer had to walk away for a moment – my ribs were aching from laughing so hard!]
Ava has been travelling for over 20 hours, on her way to find her missing dad, in his 80’s, who wandered away from the assisted living facility and without taking his medications with him. But her airline luggage is missing and no one in the airport seems to speak English. She tried her Spanish, but the man behind the counter kept moaning and she had no idea what the words he used meant. She had no spare clothing and had to find her suitcase. She had no time to wait around to find her luggage! When she checks on her rental car, she is told she cannot drive to where she was headed – her father’s birthplace — because the roads were damaged a year ago by a storm and everyone moved somewhere else! So they didn’t fix the roads. She could join a group that hiked up there, but she had only high heels and no suitcase. When she tried to get a hotel room, she was told it was full and she was out of luck. She had a reservation, but their computers were down… Fighting off a panic attack, she feels a hot flash coming on. She asks for directions to another hotel from a stranger, and he goes on and on, with hand gestures added – but she doesn’t understand a single word. When she breaks down in tears, he takes her hand and leads her to the tiny hotel. Is she going to be able to find her father while avoiding the Texas liberation organization? Will she be too late to help him? And will she ever find her OWN way home when her search is over?
This is a crazy book, best read in short sittings to rest up in between and catch your breath! Ava has a good heart and it’s troubling to see how everything seems to go wrong for her. With the best of intentions, nothing works out as planned. Grab your copy and see if she can locate her dad and get him safely back to the assisted living facility.
I truly enjoyed this book ! It was the 1st one of Traci’s that I have read. Ava has a problem her dad is missing, So she goes on the hunt for him in SPAIN. He kids are trying to deal with college life, finding grandpa, and then throw in some romance, intrigue and wait for it the elusive missing from their lives grandma! This was a fun story truly filled with misadventure. Can a woman of a “certain” age decide she can have more in her life after a failed marriage? Will a book smart daughter but a true nerd at heart find there is more to life? Will a son discover who may have helped is grandpa go missing? I will be reading more by Traci as son as I have time!
