The Empire will kill him for stealing this ship… but they have to catch it first!
To the Empire the Wanderer was just another booby-trapped ship to claim, and Jess was just another worthless slave who could be sacrificed in the process.
Things didn’t go to plan. Jess survived the dangers, and when he sat in the pilot’s chair the ancient ship came to life for the first time in centuries.
… for the first time in centuries.
Acting on instinct Jess seized the chance, firing up the engines and fleeing the Imperial forces.
Now Jess and the ancient self-aware ship are on the run, their freedom and their very existence on the line.
The smart thing to do would be to run like hell and never stop, but Jess finds he can’t ignore pleas for help from those in danger. With the powerful Wanderer at his command he can truly make a difference… but at what cost?
Buy this collection of the first three books and see why tens of thousands of people have loved following the Wanderer’s journey, leaving comments including “In the end, I was gripping the arms of my chair as I rooted for the heroes.”, “A fast paced, can’t-put-it-down Sci-fi.” and “One of the best books I’ve read this year.”

WANDERER’S ODYSSEY: Books 1-3 by Simon Goodson
Wow! It’s an epic Space Opera. I was into the books almost all of the way through. I keep trying to picture our lives today, going forward to the book’s time period and I can’t really picture all of us in space, maybe in several thousand years?
Jess, Matt, and Sal are slaves who have to go onboard abandoned ships and clear out any traps that the previous crews have left behind. The Wanderer is a spaceship, Jess enters first and mysteriously figures out how to get onboard. Matt and Sal follow him. If an opportunity avails itself to you, it’s always best to take that opportunity.
Would love it if it became a movie or a tv series. Highly recommend. Favorites for sure!
With much gratitude, I received a complimentary copy from #simongoodson I was under no obligation to post a review.
Should stop at book 3, anymore is too much
When I started reading it was clear I’d already read it. Oddly, I could not find it i my library. OH! it’s actually 3 books, and that’s when I saw the original, so I’ve already reviewed the first book.
These are written very simply, think “Old Man and the Sea” by Steinbeck. You will find also that the wanderer isn’t just your run of the mill spaceship. It is quite capable of moulding itself into any needed configuration. Sex comes about to our young Captain and you know it’s happening, it isn’t described in all it’s glory. More like they were so filled with desire by the time they got to his room they were tearing off each other’s clothes.
The second book introduces some new characters and situations that require Jess to think and evaluate how things should be constructed. Oh my, the third book pits Jess and his friends against the Federation and all it’s might. Oh, and the ship wants to go home.
Even though it is simple read I really enjoyed it. Hopefully Jess will get his team mates (crew) back in the 4th book?
Enjoy
Good story moves at a good pace
Excellent space odyssey novels. Unexpected twists and turns. Great characters.
Can’t wait to read the next!
This book has been very interesting. At times it has been so intense that I put it down only to pick it up and read on. I can’t wait to start the next one.
I enjoyed book 1 and much of book 2 but the storyline began devolving and as it did my interest left. Eventually the actions felt disconnected and I could find no reason to continue.
Jess starts the series as an adolescent and rapidly matures as he integrates with the ship’s AI. Unfortunately he then seems to revert to his previous adolescence and becomes emotional and acts irresponsibly, putting everyone at risk.
A new storyline is started in the second book with no background provided and the reader is forced to guess at any perceived outcome. When this new storyline did not resolve into a supported plot, I lost interest. Apparently there is no actual end for any of this series.
Childish writing/plot
I was drawn in by the idea of a ship connected to its captain, but the 16 yr old was not up to my expectations. The characters are too juvenile and immature. I wasn’t the target audience this book was written for.
This is a very imaginative space-opera romp through a technically advanced but socially and economically repressive galactic society.
Great read and I love the action and pace.
A great sci-fi read.
more appropriate for YA readers.
Great story line
Good read, characters are easy to relate to and make mistakes just like in the real world.
I liked the 1st book despite some downsides. The AI was getting interesting. But the limitations were growing. The stories were each about 2 pages and they didn’t flow well between them. So by the second book it just seemed to much work to continue. Just too disjointed.
Can a space adventure be realistic? Absolutely! I was surprised how much I enjoyed this set!
I liked the story and characters. It felt like a young adult novel until the third volume.
I love this series. Especially the first and second book. The idea of an AI controlling a ship is not a new idea but an AI “being” the ship? One that can change and adapt according to its and its captains needs , wow amazing! Any book that expands my imagination and takes my thoughts into new areas I love. Get your copy soon!
