For all of us PROPER southern belles who have been programmed to bite our tongues!
Easy read with realistic feeling/perception of each character’s persona. Each feels that they are struggling through life although they are successful. Each appears to be ‘rocks of strength ‘ to others. They draw on their faith to personally suceed.
What a wonderful inspirational book. I was sad when it ended but felt uplifted.
A very different twist but it turned out to be a good read
I liked the way the characters came to life especially the Gay sisters.
It dragged alot.
Inspirational story of pastor’s long-suffering wife due to members of a sometimes-ungrateful church. After her pastor/husband collapses and dies on a Sunday morning in the pulpit, her life takes many turns, twists and great surprises as to her husband’s secrets kept from her during their 30 year marriage. Investments made by the recommendation of a one-time banker relieved of his job and, is now serving as the church janitor because of her husband’s kindness, makes her a very wealthy woman. She is able to accomplish many of the things she sacrificed during her tenure as a pastor’s wife. An easy read and it makes you want to get the sequels to learn how the rest of the story and things turn out for the other story’s characters.
Just liked it.
Really enjoyed and it was so truthful and told with wit
very interesting presentation format – different from most other novels I’ve read. very interesting.
A good read. I’m sure this happens to many pastor’s wives so was very thought provoking. The ending was what you hope for as you read but evident until the end.
Charming characters that made me laugh and cry. Main character metamorphosed into the strong woman she didn’t know she was. I loved it
Oh my – what a joy to read! Pulled at the heartstrings while still smiling at the humor. Really enjoyed this read.
Having completed this great book, I am now eager to read the next one. Thanks to Lynne Gentry.
Throughly enjoyed this book, as well as other Lynne Gentry books in this series. Series should be read in order. WALKING SHOES was entertaining, funny, down-to-earth.
The characters and the situations they found themselves in captured me. I’ve known enough pastors and their families to know that it can be a difficult life. But one with great blessings. I enjoyed this book so much that I ordered and am now reading the second book in the series.
Really great story telling. Humor can get us through even the loss of loved ones and having close friends including those who irritate the life out of you, can get you through tough times.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is very well written with great character development and quirky humor! It is very honest and fun! A good read.
How can such a serious subject be presented with such honesty and also humor? This was an excellent read. I look forward to reading more by this author. Her characters and situations reflected true life situations that I have observed in the lives of the clergy and Christian circles. Humanity is flawed, but there is hope.
I liked this book. As a pastors wife I could relate to the characters and found myself wondering if my children felt some of these same things this pastors family did. It’s always hard to lose someone and perhaps even more so the pastors wife Everyone should read this maybe they will understand the pastors family a little more and just maybe some will be kinder.
