Really enjoyed this book
A story of love and loose. It tells of a woman who looses her rock and works very hard to establish a life, reconnect with family & friends that were left behind in the hustle of her married life. Would recommend this funny, inspiring book to all women
This is a really good story about life for a pastor’s family left in the church after their husband/father suddenly dies. It has it’s funny aspects, sad aspects & really sad aspects. It ends suddently because it takes 3 more books to get through the lives of the wife & 2 children who have to figure out how to continue after the death.
This is a quirky story of how a wife copes with the sudden death of her husband. It touches on the troubles in a family and gives insights into how those troubles got started. The wife’s Mom is rather unbelievable but the other folks have bits and pieces that one could relate to. An entertaining read.
Different as it is from the point of view of the pastor’s wife. Realistic in its portraying of the congregation and their pressure on her.
I loved this book
Wondered
This is a great story about loss, finding your easy again and coming to the realization that with help from God anything is possible.
I enjoyed this book
First in a series. The humor in the midst of sorrow and loss is very refreshing and inspiring. The characters are fun and colorful and easily lend themselves to further development in the sequels.
Good read. Leona’s spiritual and emotional growth was inspiring. The characters were interesting.
I love how the characters in this story were humorously portrayed. The church biddies, the controlling mother, the bestie, and even Leona.
Great characters, funny with true to lifes sorrows handled with faith and grace and humor. Loved it.
This is the firsts of a series. I’m currently reading the third book. But this is where it begins. J.D. had been pastor of a small church in Texas for over 18 years. On the Sunday before Thanksgiving, he walked up to the pulpit to give the message, spoke a few words… and died. And his wife, Leona’s life is forever changed. Mainly the story is about her and how she learns to navigate the world without her beloved J. D. She has to reconnect with her two grown children, one who intent on a career and the other who seems to be running from a calling.
The story is also about the church. Leona has felt pressure to be a ‘perfect pastor’s wife’ for years. Churches are made up of imperfect people and this church is no exception. They support, frustrate and deal with life as best they can.
I laughed and cried, cheering some characters and shaking my head at others. I loved the story and could not wait to start the second in the series.
Great beach read! Loved the characters.
Very much enjoyed this book.
Great
Being a woman married to a minister, I saw myself in this wonderful character! A crazy good range of emotions!
A woman makes changes and finds a new freedom after her husband dies.
Good story, easy reading, and entertaining!
All about the trials and tribulations of a pastor’s wife. Dependent and loyal to her calling as a support for her husband, her world suddenly changes and she faces challenges that she did not plan for. Some not-so-likeable church members Christian in name only are less than supportive.
