Aww so bummed this was the last book of the series Man of the Month.
Brent a single father has always put his daughters needs before his own. When his ex decided to walk out he made a promise to himself that he would never let any woman get close to hurt his daughter Faith or him again. Well of course until he set eyes on the beautiful Elena.
Elena is the daughter of Tyree the owner of The Fix. While going to grad school she was unfortunately let go from her job. Now she needed a job. Besides her attraction to Brent he needed a babysitter for his daughter. She decided to take the job. Now was it a good idea to take this job knowing that she’s very attracted to Brent? Must read to find out!
I voluntarily received an ARC for an honest review.
3.5 Stars. Walk the line is the 12th and final book of the Man of the Month series, and it’s been quite a ride. There have been a couple of the guys who I really liked, Griffin, Cameron and Easton are up there, but Brent is probably my favorite. I think because he’s the single dad who’s trying to bring up his daughter on his own after his wife walked out on him and Faith right after she was born, but I don’t particularly like the match up with him and Elena. The story felt rushed to me, I don’t think Elena ever came off to me as being mother material at 23 years old, not that women can’t be moms at that age, but throughout the series I never got that impression from her character, just didn’t work for me. The end definitely seemed to be thrown together, which is not something this author usually does, but that’s just my opinion. Overall, great series, loved most of the books and characters in the Austin setting, worth the read as a whole collective group.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.
I want to say Ms Kenner saved the best for last… but they have all been fantastic! I couldn’t pick a favorite if I had to! Brent is the sweetest and the greatest dad! I loved hearing about his love for his daughter! What a fantastic series… loved reading all of them!
I have been patiently waiting for Brent’s story since the beginning. The single dad really grabbed my attention! I loved his inner struggle with wanting to love Elena and letting her go because he was afraid to let someone into his and his daughter’s life again. Elena was a strong female character and was perfectly paired with Brent.
It was great to see a recap of all of the couples at the end of the story. Once again though, I found myself wanting more story here. I think this whole series was good, but I love a book with so much more detail and story. This was another good read though.
Five delicious stars! Mr. December is on fire! He will burn you…
What a way to finish such an all-consuming series! J. Kenner wrapped everything in a wonderful and brilliant way. Walk the Line is the cherry at the top of the most tempting and delicious series. It is the perfect end to the Man of the Month Series. I really enjoyed and loved each book in the series. All the male characters part of this series ruined me in the best way possible. It is hard to tell who my favourite one is. Julie: I wonder if I could keep all of them to myself. I promise I will be a good girl and will take care of them. No hard feelings lady! LOL.
This book was my undoing because I have a soft spot for romances where the characters have a pretty big gap in age. Who isn’t attracted to older men? They are more experienced and they know what they want. Well, this book nailed my hard limits. Brownie points if he is a sweet and sexy single father. It melts my heart every time I watch a father interact with her little girl / boy. Don’t worry ladies. Mr. December is here to warm you with the intensity of his sexy smile and mischievous eyes.
The plot is enthralling, addictive and well developed. Every element made it incredible hard to put this book down. I devour each page ravenously fast! Perfection doesn’t cover it. This is not the typical story where the girl meets boy and fall in love. This is a fierce discovery of true love where nothing matters, no even age, where two hearts beat at the same rhythm, where attraction and lust match the chance to fall into the temptation of falling in the arms of who you think you shouldn’t. But the heart wants what it is wants…
Brent and Elena are at the top list of my favourite couples. They are good for each other. They love fiercely and protect their loved ones to any cost (even their happiness). Brent is just the type of man that hardly exist in real life because his priority is her little daughter. He was hurt by her ex-wife and since then he haven’t opened his heart to anyone until Elena came like a storm in his life. Her softness and sexy body tempted him like hell. Brent is afraid of opening his heart and sharing his life with a woman because it is not only him. Is is wrong to be be attracted to your best friend’s daughter and it is even more forbidden because she is younger than you… Will he let Elena into his and her daughter’s life? Will he risk his heart again?
Elena is a young woman working hard to make her dreams come true. After finding her dad was not dead, she did everything to meet him. Every little girl needs her daddy. Tyree made her proud and happy. Helping him to save his bar is her goal. Falling for Brent wasn’t in her plans. Dreams change as people do. Having a crush on an older man is something forbidden and tempting and even more if that man in question is your father’s best friend. Brent and Faith will change her world and dreams…
This is a must read for every reader who loves a good romance with tempting touches! J. Kenner never (in a million years) disappoints her readers. Each of her books is a refreshing breeze where you can loose yourself!
Meet Mr December, our favorite Fix on Sixth security guard, Brent. When Brent meets Elena, can he go with his heart or will his brain keep winning trying to protect Faith? What can they do when trouble starts brewing around the Fix? Read to get a great conclusion for all 12 of our couples on this series.
Final Score – 5 Stars!
This is the way you end a series. From the first book until the last, the gang at the 6th street bar has entranced me with their love, loyality, and passion. J Kenner has woven a tale that makes me envious of these friendships.
This story is no different. Brent and Elena’s story will make you cheer with excitement and with frustration. No story is complete without a bit of drama – and this one had enough that wasn’t prolonged nor mail biting.
This was the perfect blend and I’d re-read it again, if I didn’t have another ARC to complete.
The Man of the Month series has finally closed its doors to the Fix on Sixth but what a way to say goodbye! J. Kenner wrote an amazing series and Walk the Line featuring Brent & Elena really rounded out the ‘lot’.
It was all right there in front of him. Everything he craved. Everything he loved. Everything he was afraid of.
Will Brent let his ex-Olivia decide his fate for love of his future or will he finally step out of the box and take a chance?
Untreatable chemistry between these two which we’ve seen through out these books and now we see their romance blossom and take off. Who knew that Brent was such a dirty talker?!
I really enjoyed the finale. Bitter sweet moments to remember. Massive praises to J. Kenner on another successful series!
I’m so sad that this was the series last book. It’s single dad Brent and Elena, his babysitter who is his boss’s daughter story to happily ever after. When the sparks started to fly I couldn’t get enough! I have wanted Brent’s story since the first book. He is the head of security for The Fix and his little girl is his life. Not wanting her hurt he decides not to get involve with anyone. Can Elena be the one to change his relationship status? This older dad/much younger babysitter story is hot! Their attraction and chemistry had me turning pages never wanting it to end.
I hate for this series to end! Walk The Line is the final book in the Man of the Month series and what an amazing series! Brent and Elena’s story was sexy, sweet, and sizzling with some angst and suspense thrown in. Brent’s devotion to his daughter just makes your heart melt! I will miss all the great characters at The Fix on Sixth and their heartwarming stories. An awesome series from beginning to end. I highly recommend!
This is the twelfth and final book in the Man of the Month series . This is the story is Brent and Elena. Julie Kenner does not disappoint. Brent is a single dad that does security that The Fix on Sixth which he also own a third of. One of the others who own a third is Tyree, who is also Elena’s father. So this all complicates thing for them as Brent tries hard to resist his feelings. This is a must read along with the other elven.
Who better to end the Man of the Month series than with Brent and Elena. This was a fun and quick read with a few little twists thrown in. It was nice to see the other couples and catch up with a few. It would be a great idea to have all of the books rolled into one. All in all, this whole series was great for the times that you want to read something not too intense.
4.5 Stars
This is the book I’ve been waiting for since starting the series. Mr. December single dad Brent gets his shot. I will confess I was so sad to start this one because it means this great series is over. J. Kenner finished this series on a high note. I gobbled this book right up. I guess if I had anything I would change would be I would have loved to have Brent’s daughter Faith pop up more in the book. She’s such a little cutie. Elena and Brent had such chemistry. What I loved about this book the series came full circle. I couldn’t have been any happier with the epilogue. It was the perfect touch.
Walk the Line by J. Kenner is Man of the month book 12. It is crazy how fast its been through these 12 books. Everyone unique but also connected. We have known Brent since the beginning. A single father who is committed to his daughter Faith and not willing to let romance in. Elena is, Tyree Johnson, owner of The Fix on Sixth’s. daughter. Though separated for years, she and her father have forged a strong bond. This connection makes the sparks between Elena and Brent more complicated. Elena is ten years younger than Brent, and his friend and business partner’s daughter, aka off limits.
Brent’s connection to The Fix and to Tyree as well as his commitment to his daughter have been a constant it really is a perfect fit to make him part of the family even deeper. Brent’s struggles with trust because of his ex-wife make things complicated but if we have learned nothing else, magic and romance can happen at the Fix on Sixth and nothing is insurmountable.
I have enjoyed every one of these books and Walk the Line was a great addition by J. Kenner to this series. In many ways I am sad to see it over but it has been fun and romantic the whole way through.
(I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book I received for free from the publisher in exchange for my open and honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.)
Readers who have been with the series since its introduction should be more than familiar with the hero of Walk the Line. Brent’s been in the background of the series as the bar’s head of security, watching his friends find their happily ever after but never wanting to risk his own heart because he’s still not over what his ex did to him and their daughter.
Until her.
But besides Brent’s fears and insecurities when it comes to the opposite sex and his need to protect his daughter at all costs is a set of circumstances that could upend all facets of his life, which means that he knows he needs to walk the line and not cross it in a way that could hurt all those involved in his life – the only problem is that despite the age difference and despite the fact that she’s the daughter of his boss, the connection they share burns bright and it becomes something essential to both of them.
I can’t believe we’re already at Mr. December. It seems like I just started J. Kenner’s Man of the Month series, and now it’s time to meet the final calendar hottie and see what happens with The Fix on 6th since besides the characters finding love, the push to save the bar is at the forefront of each book, and although Walk the Line brings everything to a close, hopefully keeping the beloved bar open, let’s just say J. Kenner definitely brings the couples of this series and the bar that brought them together to a satisfying ending with a few surprises!
4 Poison Apples
I can’t believe we are at the end! The final book in the Man of the Month series, number twelve (December), Walk the Line gives us Brent and Elena’s story. Brent is the single dad who has known loss and is trying to avoid any more heartache. Elena the younger daughter of the owner of the The Fix who pushes all kinds of boundaries.
I have to say I absolutely adored this story. Brent is afraid to open himself up again. After losing his wife, all he wants is to work and do good by daughter. Elena is about ten years younger than him and the daughter of the man he works for. Definitely off limits, but the more time they spend together, as she helps him with Faith, the harder it is to ignore what is happening between them. Can they find a way to be together?
I have to say I have really enjoyed this series. Quick novella-style stories with all kinds of tropes that are sexy, steamy, funny and so much fun to read. We get to know friends and stay in touch with them throughout the entire series. Though each story can be read on its own, there is such enjoyment reading them in order and getting to know everyone.

Happy reading!
“Electricity arced through him, but he stood frozen, afraid that if he even breathed he’d lose it. But oh, how he wanted to move. Wanted to touch her. Wanted to wake her, then kiss her. Wanted to do all sorts of things he shouldn’t want to do at all. And yet he did want to. He wanted to desperately.”
Brent and Elena bring the Man of the Month series to a sweet, steamy & satisfying conclusion with their single dad/ younger woman/ best friend’s daughter storyline. Like the other books in this series, it serves up some very hot action interspersed with touching personal moments.
I was more moved by the finale of this series than I expected to be. Some couples were more memorable than others, some more endearing, but in the end everyone connected to this bar became family. And it’s not always the family we’re born into that matters, sometimes it’s the friends we chose who become our family that mean the most in the end.
I’m not really that much of a fan of older man romances, but for the most part, this one worked for me. Like most of the others in this series that I have read so far, it was another quick and easy read. I honestly liked how this one seemed so much more realistic in the amount of time it took for them to actually get together, or should I say in the amount of time for them to kind of feel like a couple, and act like it. Even though they were still trying to keep it secret, from Elena’s dad of course, who starts out right away warning them away from each other, and of course also trying to keep it secret, for the most part from Brent’s daughter. However I feel like Brent definitely had the right amount of protesting that what they were doing could be wrong with the age difference, but not to a ridiculous amount. When he did get over that, the other obstacles had to do with the fact that Elena was still going to finish school and what would she do for her job after that, and then he didn’t want to get his daughter’s hopes up and have Elena leave like the mother of his daughter had before. I like that Elena still looked into how she could stay there and also continue on with her schooling and meet the goals that she had for herself. That was very mature, and to me very realistic. Elena’s father also was exactly how I’d picture my own family members behaving about someone in the same situation. That even though they had misgivings over the age difference, etc., her father knew Brent, knew he was a good guy, and knew that Elena would be great with him and his daughter. And that’s something that I loved about this one for sure. We also got a little bit of a catch up with each of our other couples, and that was great as well, since this is the last one.
If you’re looking for some quick, easy, romantic with a bit of sexy tales, this should be at the top of your list. While I haven’t read every single one in the series, all of the ones I have read are worth it for sure. At some point I’ll probably go back and read the ones I missed. Especially since Elena’s father was one of them, and I missed that story thanks to other blogging obligations at the time it was out.

Ruthie –
The last in the series – that has been an absolute pleasure to read and review. From the very first story, which set the background to the journey we have taken together, to this lovely conclusion, I have enjoyed it all.
I have been waiting for Brent to get his happily ever after since book one to be honest, once Reece and Jenna paired up, he was the one who had missed out. Most definitely a man who deserves his chance at love, he is still stunned at his wife’s demand for a divorce five years ago.
Therefore we know that Elena, who has thought him her perfect man from the first time she saw him, has many issues to overcome before he will even consider her as a future partner. After all, she is his boss’s long-lost daughter, and she is ten years younger than him… let alone she is planning on a career which involves travel. But chemistry is the darnedest thing – along with some clever matchmaking pushes from Jenna – and somehow, we just know that it will work out. How she will get him on the stage for Mr. December is another challenge entirely!
Along with another fun and feisty romance, we get a catch up with the previous winners and their newly minted romances. The Fix finally is in the black, although the story of the ill-fated bar does not end there, and there is one final twist to bring the story to a well-rounded conclusion.
It has been a fun time waiting for each book to be released, and I found the gap of two weeks between each one to be just the perfect time to remember the previous installment and be ready for the next. Thank you, J. Kenner.

Awww, so sad this series is over. It’s been a 12 book whirlwind getting to know these characters and now they feel like part of the family, I’ll be sad to see them go.
We finish out the series with a single dad trope.
Brent is raising his daughter Faith alone, and Elena works as his babysitter. She’s a lot younger than Brent so he tries to hide his feelings, but the attraction goes both ways and Elena is sure of what she wants. Brent is in a hard place as Elena is Tyree’s daughter and he doesn’t want to be at odds with his friend.
But, as always, love finds a way.
This was a short and sweet story and it just left me with a happy smile on my face. The epilogue just tied it all together. Simply the best.
