Sexy, steamy, and perfect for a day at the beach. This series is your perfect binge read!
“—he went from watching to touching to taking.”
What a perfect ending to an amazing series that just kept building until my heart was full. So many interesting characters, each adding a different flavor to the pot, and blended they make an irresistible recipe for love. Featuring both tasty food, unique cocktails, and a sexy man for every month of the year the local bar, the Fix on 6th is worth checking out. While each story can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend that you start from the beginning and work your way through each Man of the Month. You will fall in love with each couple individually, and then appreciate them as support characters as the series continues.
Brent has been part of the series from the very first book, he’s the sexy single father that has all the women wanting to step in and help him out. But he’s not interested in a relationship. He’s been there, done that, and has the perfect daughter as a reward for the scars that relationship left behind. Unfortunately, those scars are deep and color all of his plans for the future in shades of never instead of forever. He’s content with being the best father, friend, and business partner that he can be and isn’t looking for more. But she shows up anyway…
Elena is the ‘more’ that he can’t afford to want, but that doesn’t stop him. She’s not only too young, she’s the boss’s daughter, and off limits. He keeps reminding himself of that, but every time they are in the same room together their connection shocks them like a bug zapper. How long will he be able to deny himself now that he knows she feels the same way?
Not only is the forbidden aspect of this story tantalizing, there’s some suspense thrown into the mix to make it that much more exciting. Brent was a police detective before he became a father. So, his knowledge in that area makes him even better at his job handling security for the club. His instincts are sharp and his skills are impressive, on the job and in the bedroom, making December one of my favorite months in the calendar contest. I’m really going to miss this wonderful group of friends and I’m sad that there are only twelve months in a year. I’ll be keeping my eye out for whatever the author has for her readers next. The line forms here…
WALK THE LINE by J. Kenner is Book 12 in the Man of The Month series. This is the story of Brent and Elena. I have read the other books but feel this can be a standalone book, if you choose to do so. This is the lastbook in this series so loosen are taking care of with this book. Brent doesn’t really do relationship much less one with his friend/boss’s daughter. In addition she I’d much younger than him and his babysitter for his little girl. But the sparks are flying between the two and it’s becoming harder for him to fight them until they end up acting on them.
Enjoy this book and have loved this great series.
5 Star Review Walk The Line (Man of the Month #12) by J Kenner
This is the twelfth and final book in the series and is Brent and Elena’s story; what a way to finish the series. This is bitter sweet as I have become invested in this group of friends and I am sad to see their stories come to a close.
Brent is a single dad to oh so cute Faith and is also the security expert at The Fix. He is good friends with Tyree who happens to be Elena’s father and he has no intention of jeopardising his friendship by going after Elena. However not all goes to plan, particularly when the attraction sizzling just under the surface between Brent and Elena comes to a boil.
Brent is concerned he is too old for Elena and also that she will leave like his ex Olivia did. Of course the whole gang can see the attraction between these two and a little matchmaking ensures when Elena agrees to be Faith’s babysitter.
Faith almost stole the book away from Brent and Elena, such was the humour and her total cuteness factor. She really has some amazing comments in Walk The Line and I absolutely adored her.
I seemed to fall more in love with the couples each book and it was heart warming to get glimpses into how their relationships were progressing throughout the series.
This has been a fun ride with the gang from The Fix and I do hope that we can get a couple of extra books about this group of people who have become family (hint hint maybe a holiday book?). This is one of my favourite series this year and I am sad to see it end. Congratulations Ms. Kenner on a fantastic series of books.
I am so glad we finally get Brent’s hook up story. He has always been in the background as a good dad all around good guy not looking for love then Elena showed up. She knows what she wants but has no idea just how important Brent will end up being. Change her life, change her dreams, change her plans all for a man who can’t get past his fears. Well the December Man of the Month is still open and now there’s a challenge for Brent. To jump all in or not, it’s all up to him.
I love this ending to the Man of the Month series. Each book a standalone but man they are all so good why would you take the chance of missing the best one. I can’t believe this author was able to keep the series fresh and interesting but I loved all of them including the Bar Bites.
WALK THE LINE is the twelfth and final instalment in J. Kenner’s contemporary, adult MAN OF THE MONTH erotic, romance novella series focusing on a fund raiser for the popular Austin, Texas bar known as The Fix. This is The Fix’s co-owner and single father, thirty-three year old Brent inclair, and twenty-four year old, grad student Elena Johnson’s story line. WALK THE LINE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary although I recommend reading the series in order for backstory and cohesion.
SOME BACKGROUND: The Fix on Sixth, a local Austin hangout and bar, is in desperate need of renovations and a quick influx of cash so a plan is put into motion, by a group of regulars, a plan that includes a Man of the Month calendar competition, a recipe book, and a reality show aimed at rehabbing the bar.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Brent and Elena) WALK THE LINE follows the building relationship between Brent Sinclair, and grad student Elena Johnson. As the daughter of his business partner, Elena was off-limits as far as Brent was concerned. The single father to five year old Faith, Brent focused all of his attention on his daughter believing he had no time for the ‘non-essential’ aspects of his life, including a relationship-been there, done that, and has the emotional scars to prove it. But when Faith’s babysitter is unable to fulfill her responsibilities, a newly-unemployed Elena Johnson is perfect for the job. What ensues is the building romance and love between Elena and Brent, and the potential fall-out as Brent begins to have second thoughts about his future, and that of the woman with whom he will fall in love.
WALK THE LINE is the culmination of twelve instalments that focus on the rehabbing of The Fix on Sixth; and the struggle to stay one step ahead of an unknown enemy that is quickly escalating threats against the bar. Most of the previous story line couples play secondary and supporting roles (if only by way of mention). Here’s hoping the author advances the series a few years wherein we catch up with all of the couples, as well as Tyree’s son Eli. The premise is fast paced and entertaining; the romance is quick to develop; the characters are colorful and passionate. My only complaint is the quick resolution to the threats against The Fix on Sixth-I was hoping for a little more interaction and detail.
Julie Kenner’s MAN OF THE MONTH is a sexy, spicy and inspiring series of quick reads; novella-length tales of heart warming stories and inspiring characters.
This is the perfect title for this book. Elena and Brent are amazing together and very instinctive, reluctance seems to be the winner when it comes to stability. I love how everyone around them sees the way they look at each other, when they themselves are unsure. Most of all I adore the conversation Faith had with her dad about Elena. Now that was a priceless moment that’s worth remembering. As for Elena’s dad and her relationship with Brent I’m glad he was open to hearing his daughter express her love for his best friend and the encouragement he gave Brent was also another priceless moment.
4 stars
I purchased a copy of the steamy short novel Walk The Line: A Man Of The Month Novel book 12 by J. Kenner and this review was given freely.
A fitting conclusion.
Olderman, younger woman, the bosses daughter and the baby sitter are just a few of the themes in this final satisfying installment of The Fix on Sixth saga. Love finally comes to Brent in the form on Tyree’s daughter Elena. A steamy romance with a family theme filled with love and compromise is blended with an update on all twelve couples as well as closure regarding the subterfuge behind the attempts on the bar.
loved the entire series!
This was a great ending to this amazing series by J. Kenner. I’ve enjoyed every single book in the Man of the Month series and this one was not an exception. It was fun, romantic and a little bit suspenseful and that made it just the perfect summer read 🙂
I’ve been wanting to read Brent’s story pretty much from the very start. With him being a single dad with an adorable daughter, I knew that the story will be one of the best. And it will take an exceptional woman to heal the heartbreak left after Brent’s ex-wife’s betrayal and abandonment. And Elena is just the right woman for that. She is beautiful both inside and out and with her soft nature she wins the hearts of both father and daughter and heal the pain and heartbreak in their souls.
I am not going to reveal any more than that but I am going to say that you should definitely check this last instalment in the series. And if you haven’t already read the other books in the series, don’t waste any time and add them to your library 🙂
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I was hesitant to read this one. Not because I didn’t think it would be good, but because I knew for sure it would be great and I didn’t want the series to end. One of my favorite things about JKenner’s work is how it all takes place in the same universe, no matter what series you are reading, and they often overlap just enough to make you want to go back and reread the others. Always leaves me wanting more.
While I’m sad it’s over, I was eagerly awaiting Brent’s chance at happiness and definitely did not finish disappointed. He and Elena are perfect for each other and her love for Faith (his daughter) is a large part of what makes it so perfect. Please write more Fix on Sixth books!!
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is the last book of the Man of the Month series. It was an awesome series.
This is Brent and Elena’s book. Not really the couple I expected but it turned out to be a good read. I was happy to see the series end on such a happy note.
Loved the ending to this series. This book was hot not to mention I love the plot of it a single dad I swoon. You have just made my day by writing this book.
This is the final book in the Man of the Month series and I am sad to see it end. This is Brent and Elena’s story. Brent is the security officer/co-owner at The Fix on Sixth and he has a daughter, Faith, from his previous relationship. He has closed off his heart as he does not want to expose just any woman to his daughter. Elena is the younger woman who has attracted Brent and the one woman who could possibly reawaken his heart. However, there are some hurdles that need to be overcome. How will Elena’s father react when he learns that his daughter is attracted to an older man who is his business partner? Can Brent get over the age difference? Is Brent willing to let Elena in? This is a quick, inviting read although it is not my favorite of the series.
I volunteered to read an advance copy of this book.
Loved this story with Brent and Elena! Seems that all the regulars at The Fix on Sixth knew these two had feelings for each other so it came as no surprise when they acted on their chemistry. Brent has shied away from relationships mainly to protect his young daughter from a “revolving door” of potential mommy-substitutes. As Tyree’s daughter, Elena didn’t really represent a threat to his stance on dating, since she would be his daughter’s babysitter while he worked late nights. I thought their relationship, specifically the amount of time Elena spent at Brent and Faith’s house, moved a bit quickly, but I guess if you know, you know.
With this being the final book in the series, it was fun to visit with all the previous couples. Since each story in the series is a stand-alone, everything couldn’t be smooth sailing. The conflict came in the form of another threat that the bar might still have to close. In the end, I was satisfied with the ending and really enjoyed the epilogue.
I’m going to have to reread the “Slice of Life” stories in the Bar Bites cookbook, as those were like extended epilogues for some of our couples. I’m surprised the cookbook wasn’t last considering my comment on the epilogues. Enjoyed the whole series!!
Walk the Line by J. Kenner is the final book in her new 12 book Man of the Month series. Told in dual POV this final story is that of Brent and Elena. Brent has been with us since the beginning, a steadfast secondary character, a co-owner of the fix and a single dad. He has managed to keep himself closed off to relationships for the sake of his daughter but Elena breaks his walls down further than any woman ever has before. For her, he may just be willing to risk not just his heart but his daughter Faith’s also.
Well-written and well-paced, this was a wonderful close to the series and a great read. Enjoy!
The final installment in the Man of the Month series was a delightful, sweet and satisfying story, with many of the series’ characters. This light, drama free novella about second chances in life, about finding happiness again was an enjoyable read.
Elena is a smart, sweet, determined young woman. I really liked her. She has come to Austin with the dream of getting to know her father and she has rejoined his team at the Fix on Sixth. Brent is a single father. Despite being attracted to Elena, he is afraid his daughter will get attached to his new girlfriend. Her mother walked out on her and she only has her father. I loved the inclusion of the characters from earlier books in the series. I absolutely love this world the author has developed and I hope there will be an epilogue novella.
I have been wanting his story since book 1!!!! But Brent was worth the wait. I have to say the J. Kenner saved the best story for last with the Man of the Month series. I loved this book, it was the perfect ending to a great series.
I found my man of the month! I new I was going to love Brent story! Turly the best was left for last. From the very beginning of the series he won me over, well his little princess, Faith, did! I’m so sad the series is over, I have spent so much time with all these characters! but it was the best conclusion to end the series.
Brent was left to raise his little girl faith! Olivia left them both, which scared him and made it mission to do the best he could for Faith. That includes his personal live. But along come Elena. She’s young but sparks something inside Brent he cant brush off. But soon he realizes she’s the missing piece Faith and him need! Elena has to convince and show hers not Olivia and that she’s all in.
This series is full of everything you can love! its such an amazing ride. I truly enjoyed and love how invested you’ll get with all the character and their stories. I hope to get to revisit them. they became past of my family.
I can’t believe we’ve come to the end of this series. Ms. Kenner has done a phenomenal job introducing and interweaving all the Heroes and Heroines in each book with each other. We’ve seen Brent throughout the series, but now we finally get his story…and it’s a good one.
Brent is a single dad whose sole focus is his little girl until he finds himself attracted to Elena. Who just happens to be his babysitter and the daughter of one of his best friends. Talk about complicated!! And while there’s some hurdles to get over for them, the jumping was full of heat and some angst that kept me engrossed in the story.
I loved how these two were together. Elena loves Faith and her feelings for Brent are more than she’s experienced in a long time. But getting around the age difference and the fact that she’s Tyree’s daughter, but get there they do and these two are so meant to be together!!! And just because this is a romance doesn’t mean there isn’t a little suspense going on that at times was a real nail biter!
All in all, I loved this entire series, the bar setting, the contest that helped revitalized Austin and all the men and women hanging out at The Fix on Sixth.
